What the Dickens?! Come on, Thuryl practically has a monopoly on puns around here! And I did say it didn't detract from the chapter, it's just that more Thuryl would have secured it as the sexiest chapter thus far.

Not for that. For this...

Sorry, I hardly even play the games anymore and I probably won't buy any more from Spiderweb for at least a couple more years. They got me here but I stay because a couple people were nice to me and I liked it, and a couple of people were mean to me and I didn't mind it... ok, ok, I liked that, too. Plus it's easier to talk to y'all. Especially when I can think about a response for a day if I want.

I'm glad I got to read the last two chapters together. The former was too suspensful for me and the latter quenched my need for closure a bit. Loved the kol plug, but who's Santa? ;)

The SW archive search function is down so I can't find the thread, thus I can't reread the thread to make sure, but most fondly remembered at least, was the thread where TM told me he hated me. *gets teary eyed*

I got the warm fuzzies all over just thinking about it. *sniffs* Those were good times, they were. *sniffle, sniffle* I surely do miss them...

Bipolar in General

My older sister married a man who was diagnosed bipolar. I've never heard him say anything about it, though I've heard some horror stories from my sister and parents who have all witnessed 'episodes'. We only get together about twice a year, so my information is all second hand but this is how I understand his battle with it.

When he's normal, he can be a great guy. Funny, thoughtful, and charming though noticeably controlling. When he has an 'episode', in his mind, the whole world is out to get him and nothing anyone says is valid. He becomes paranoid and (as she calls it) interrogates my sister into the wee hours of the night accusing and arguing and going out of his way to pick a fight. His behavior is flat out emotional abuse. This is how it is when he's on his meds. If he's off there's just no reasoning with him. He has put himself and others in danger in this state. After an episode, when he can think properly again, he tries to be extra nice and thoughtful. He'll admit he was wrong but he doesn't like to apologize. It wasn't his fault afterall. It's something he can't control when it happens, which is why I think he's noticeably controlling when in his right mind. And it's embarrassing so it's little wonder to me why he doesn't talk about it. Now whether his is misdiagnosed or not, I can't say. He is hard to live with regardless.

Outside the forums is the interwebs, which are dangerous. Stay in the forums.

I can visualize the individual rooms well enough, it's how they're connected that confuses me. Just inside the front door is General, but the location of the rest eludes me. I guess I kind of picture it like The House on the Rock which I'm pretty sure you have to experience to appreciate or loath appropriately. It's a giant building digging deep into the ground and it's rooms are connected in a string where you have to go through one to get to another. Three hours in, when we got to the half-way point, (where they have a conveniently located restaurant) I was thoroughly lost. Which is probably why I am currently lost.

Yay, I'm not dead, uh, yet.

*Thinks those crickets might be lucky*

I'm feeling a bit lost, though. I've never really been able to picture what the forums look like as a building/fortress/collection of connected rooms. At least not the inside. Anybody got a blueprint?

When we sin, it's our fault, and we atone, but it's a personal error, not some systematic flaw in humanity.
And yet, all have sinned. That seems like a systematic flaw to me. Sin is our own fault, but none can escape it. As I said earlier, we can be reconciled, anyone can be reconciled to righteousness but not of any atonement by our hand. There is only one atonement that is acceptable and only one that is needed. It has already been made. One need only accept it.

Because if homosexuality is something more that just the way someone decides to act (i.e., a decision derrived from the individual - not from God - which could therefore qualify as a sin) but is actually something inherent to a person, then that would mean that God made someone that way - and yet there're all those rigid prohibitions in the Bible allegedly *against* homosexuality. Oh noes! Just what is this God trying to do? Or maybe there really is a fly in the ointment, and now they need to deal with all these unsettling questions.

I think homosexuality is an inherent characteristic in a person; perhaps repressible, like other personality traits, but ever present. If that's the case, then it wouldn't be that individual's choice to "sin." For people who believe in God, this leaves two alternatives: either God is cruel for creating a person with inherent sin, or people are misinterpreting God (the likely answer). Of course, the easiest thing to do is to avoid this uncomfortable consideration and just assume that since one isn't gay and can't understand what it means to be gay, then those people who are just aren't controlling themselves enough ("I mean, it's so disgusting, right?"), and so are in fact choosing to sin. That, or God is "testing" their souls or some crap. Best not to question, though! That upsets the apple cart of comfort.

Sorry for jumping in with a reply to a page old post, and sorry for not reading 80% of the posts before or after it was made, and sorry in general for opening my big mouth when I'm way too tired, but Diki just had to point out this post on KoL as a shining star.

God created man perfect. Man was tempted and fell into sin. All mankind is now born with inherent sin. It shows itself in many different ways, greed, idolatry, lust, etc. No one can overcome their inherent sin in their own power, whatever it may be. It's why God did the whole, 'sending His son to die on the cross' thing. For redemption. No one is beyond redemption. The only choice that matters is 'Do I accept the gift of redemption?'

Yes, that was completely religous. Not a scrap of secular ground to stand on. If I seem to ignore a response that wants a counter response, just have Diki or Salmon poke me.

*glares at Diki*
See what you made me do. :P

Christmas Eve we will gather at Aunt Pammy's house for a supper and gift exchange with the other aunts and Grandpa Bill.

Christmas Day we will gather at our own house with 16 guests for lunch, gift exchange, and general merryment (Grandma has a craft planned) for as long as the company can stay. (I am expecting sleepovers)

Sometime shortly after (time and date still undetermined) we will host another group of five along with whatever company is left, for a lunch or supper, fellowship, and probably a game or two.

And after all the binging, the purging will come as we attempt to restore balance within our household.

The privileges aren't given for no reason, though. The government wants men and women to get married and (here's the key) procreate so that next year's military will have a good population of strapping young lads to fight in their wars and next year's lads will have ladies to birth their next generation. Marriage of one man and one woman increases the chances of this happening and provides for a... hopefully stable foundation for the upbringing of said children. Thus the reason it is encouraged and rewarded with tax relief.

Granted this does not cover all privilege discrepencies, especially on the individual business level, but then it's a question of how big you want your government to be in regulating such things.

Is there a different fall colored tree? It just seems odd that all the turning trees are exactly alike when in nature you have red, orange, yellow, brown, light-green, and dark green all co-existing. Yellow and green do most deffinately go together in a fall setting.

It's been down for at least three days. Has it moved again or is ezboard just having problems?

If it's not going to be reliable anymore I'd like to move reviews right to my site but I have to find the reviews to transfer them over.

Thoughts, concerns, reassurances, advice... anything?

1. What was the last song you listened to? I don't remember the last full song I listened to, but we stopped Chicken Little in the middle of ~"It's the end of the world as we know it."~

2. What was the last song / album you bought?
I think it was The Waiting's latest.

3. What is your favorite song?
Uber difficult to discern... Different favorites for different genres... Pachabell's Cannon in D has been a favorite since I learned to play it. But I could listen to Petra's "Holy of Holies" forever. Then there's "Desert Rose", too, and "Cotton Eye Joe" can't forget him. Can I have two in country? Collin Raye: "That was a River" led me to buy all his albums whether I liked any of the songs on it or not.

4. What is your favorite record album?
The Waiting: Blue Belly Sky

5. What song do you think has the best music?
The music that first came to my head was Jesu, Joy of a Man's Desiring, but I love to listen to most anything with great harmony.

6. What song do you think has the best lyrics?
Toughie... Blue Belly Sky is a top runner, but I think I enjoy Wierd Al more. How about Constipated? ~Why'd I have to go and get myself decapitated?~

7. Who is your favorite composer?
I highly admire John Williams for the soundtrack of Hook.

8. Who is your favorite lyricist?
Wierd Al

9. Who is your favorite performing artist?
Rebecca St.James

10. Is there any song that has ever just hit you like a brick? What was it, and why?
My Saviour, My God by Aaron Shust I don't know why. Still to this day I don't notice the song till the chorus comes but then it's like, bam, gotta turn it up. I think it might be the passion of the chorus. Now if you're asking which song has been closest to getting me actually hit by a brick, well, that'd be Cotton Eye Joe. By the tenth time through, hubby's about had it.

11. What is that one song that you just can't stand?
Um, Ice Ice Baby?

12. What artist do you absolutely hate?
If they're bad enough that I don't ever listen to them I probably don't know their name. Michael Jackson rubs me the wrong way, but it's his personality, not his music.

13. If a group of SpiderWebbers got together to start a band, who would be in it, and what genre would they perform?
Realistically or metaphorically? I suppose it depends on who's got the tallent. I can play viola and I hear Thralni's got a trombone. Other then that, it'd be just a bunch of name dropping based on current popularity, right? We'd make our own genre, of course. What with all the creative minds that hover here.
