The skunk smell reached Danny as well. Not long after, another smell occupied the air and mixed with the already-present foul odor, causing a new, really really bad odor.

Danny: Eww! Where's that coming from?

He left the room and sought for a person he can ask. He came across a stranger whom he didn't remember seeing from the crowd (in fact he didn't pay much attention to the crowd).

Wise Man: Hey, little one, what's with the smell?
Danny: Beats me, mister. I didn't do it.
Wise Man: Neither did I. Must be the new guy.
Danny: New guy?
Wise Man: Uh...never mind. Anyway, I'll go ahead and see where it came from.
Danny: I wanna come! Sounds interesting...

So, they head off into the direction where the odor seems to come from.

Yes, freshly dried clothes do have a very good smell to them. Also the smell of the earth and leaves after a rain, fresh wood, and sometimes white-out. Can't think of any more scents I like...
The sampaguita (Southeast Asian flower) is a must-smell, the best-smelling flower I've smelled.

Danny was sleeping on a chair, head tilted, drool hanging off his mouth. Milla comes across him and pokes him gently.

Danny: YES! I WON!

The drool swung around his face.

Milla: (recoiling slightly) Sorry?
Danny: Where's the alien I shot?
Milla: There was no alien. And...um...
*Milla hands him a tissue.* Here.
Danny: Oh, gee, thanks, miss!
Milla: Uh, anytime.

Milla leaves Danny. Danny, finally realizing why he was given tissue, cleaned himself up. He started walking towards the direction where Milla had come from and came across the lab. He peeked carefully, and thought for a moment. Gradually, his thoughts would wander off and he would frolic.

Danny was a boy who daydreamed and blanked out a lot. It was these habits of his that pretty much moved his life along. For instance, he was dreaming at the time when volunteers were bravely putting themselves up for the expedition. The noises of the men looking for some person who ruined his hat or something like that.

Danny: Yeah, whatever, I'll come!
ADos: Excellent! Come in!
Danny: Wha? What did I do?
ADos: You've just volunteered yourself to journey along with other people into the body of someone else.
Danny: Yeah? Okay. Where do I go?

ADos showed him the entrance after signing him in. Not long after, Danny was daydreaming.

There's the Internet (though there's nothing good after going to the usual message boards).
There's computer games.
There's books (Stephen King!).
There's homework.
There's computer games again or go online, which doesn't do any good, but it takes you a few minutes further into the day, which is good.

Sam, a sailor of the SAFT, moved on. He was pretty much back where he began since the Falcon incident. The chapter in his life concerning his chase for the doomguard made him jump everytime someone called his attention. It had also turned him into a drinker. Fortunately for his health, a friend of his knew better and took action; gradually, he got off the alcoholism.

He kept up with the course of events concerning Pralgrad's search for an emperor until Sol the Benevolent turned out to be the chosen one. He learned of the death of the mage, whose name was Linda, and was quite surprised that it didn't matter to him anymore. The restlessness on the land has been quenched; there was no real need for anymore feelings caused by the war. This also led him to search for the whereabouts of his friend Gan, but his attempts were fruitless. He concluded that he must be elsewhere in Pralgrad.

Sam, a sailor of the SAFT, moved on.

Still no sign of the doomguard. His weariness grows slowly, and he can feel it; but he was driven by the thought of recovering the artifact. To others it may appear as obsession by now, but to him it is merely determination and perseverance. With some perspiration running down his cheeks, he went on.
A roaring cheer caused Sam to almost jump. It was pretty loud and clear, and he went over to see what it was all about. In no time he became part of an enormous crowd. A speaker ahead triggered something in his memory. It was the mage, and to his great surprise she is well. He hid from her gaze as best he can and listened to what she had to say.
"Remember the heros of Bale! Remember the women ravished, the children murdered...."
Whatever it is, he didn't like it. It sounds like words of encouragement about something...but he didn't stay to hear the rest. As best he could, he hoped that neither she nor the mercenary beside her noticed him move about.

Later on, he stopped shortly for some food and drink. He left as soon as possible. The evening, he noticed, was getting darker. He better find it soon before the light would be of little use to him.
He prayed that he'd find even the smallest clue about the whereabouts of it. He was nearing the docks when his prayer seemed to be answered: he saw, just as he passed across a street, a small group of sailors; he recognized one of them as a brat with whom he got into trouble with because of the brat's fault.

Some time had passed after the brawl he heard quited down. He didn't get to see it, partly because it didn't sound so loud, and partly because he stopped by for a couple of drinks, where he got involved in a pretty long conversation with a chatty sailor.
"Also, did you know that the other day..." the sailor's voice trailed off a little as Sam looked longingly at the window and let his thoughts run freely; however, he didn't let himself go into a daydream, because the sailor would then ask him a question or two about his story, and he expects more than simply a "What was that again?" or "I'm not sure."
A man rushed past his eyes. It took him a moment to realize that the blur looked strangely familiar to him. Ignoring the sailor, who had already begun his first question, Sam stood up and headed out the door to see, just as he turned at a corner, Taron.
Anger rose in Sam as he followed him. He stopped and didn't turn at the corner; instead, he propped himself firmly against the wall and listened for clues as to why his target was running.
Not long after, he heard a satisfying thud. Thinking that Taron had fallen dead, he peeked briefly and saw Taron walking up to what seemed like the body of the mage he was with. Again, just in the nick of time, he drew his head back as Taron glanced in his direction. Taron was too busy with her, however, to do other things.
Thoughts raced in his mind. First, a jubilation, for the mage is down. Then, he wondered how the two of them were separated. Someone must've intervened. Third was another question, this time concerning the doomguard. Whoever was able to split the mercenary and the mage must have the doomguard, but he didn't have a clue who it was. More thoughts followed.
He took a risk and popped his head out of hiding for a second and saw the mercenary, the mage, and an old man. He swore. He knew that they would be able to persuade the man, just as they did with his comrades.
But at least he now knows where the mage and the mercenary are; now his problem is the doomguard. Though he began to feel the exhaustion from all that's been happening, he half-walked, half-ran away from the site where the body lay and began searching for the golem.

OOC: What time is it in the RP, evening?

"Watch it!" said a passerby as Sam bumped into him. Sam ignored him; in fact, he was indifferent to his immediate surroundings. He was muttering to himself, head down, and kicking a stone in front of him. His hands were in his pockets.
In his ears came the soft sound of a scuffle, but it really didn't matter to him. "...money...loyalty...friend...." Words that softly came out of him. He sighed again. Looking up, he saw the place they had passed carrying the heavy chunk of metal.
The faint scuffle was still heard, and this time he had a little more consciousness about it. Deciding to see what it was about, he walked over in that direction; it was far better than kicking a stone and bumping into the rest of the city.

Sam was very frustrated, but there was nothing he could do. Now he's tied and locked up in a cellar. He also couldn't believe that Gan went along with them; he didn't seem like the fellow. Then again, money can be very persuasive.
He now knows that the cargo they lost is a Doomguard, but his satisfaction for curiosity is no longer important. He struggled against the bonds but to no avail. For now all he can do is ponder about whatever he likes, until someone came down the cellar to find him and release him.
He didn't notice himself doze off until a faint noise from the outside world reached his ears. Someone had just entered the cellar.
"Who's there?" he said out loud.
"Who's there?" called the man back.
"I'm tied up, let me free," replied Sam.
It turned out to be one of the bartender's helpers. He helped Sam out of the ropes. After thanking him, Sam went outside as quickly as possible. There was no sign of them. He sighed deeply and hoped that what happens next won't be as bad as he think.

His plan still fresh in his head, the word Falcon told him that what Morgan has to say has to do something with the cargo they lost.
"As I speak there is a small band travelling in the streets not very far from here," continued Morgan. "They carry the cargo the Falcon lost—a doomguard. We want you to retrieve it as soon as possible. Gather others; there is an apprentice mage among them. Go!"
With that, Sam and Gan rounded up the sailors and other seamen that were present at the inn; they ended up with five others. They raced to the back of the tavern to find themselves four horses. Those who knew how to ride them mounted on, and the others sat behind; Sam rode behind Gan. They split up into two pairs and searched through the streets.
Soon Sam spotted what seemed like their target, a good distance away. Behind him the other pair arrived.
"Leave the horses" he said, and they all dismounted—but walked quickly forward, careful not to give away their quiet chase. "There is an apprentice mage among them, and from what it seems, armed men."
"We will have to snatch the cargo away from them silently," said Gan.
"Or through a distraction," added Boney, who was among them. "I think I know a way." His eyes was set on the children who were ten feet ahead of Linda's band. He quickly disappeared while the rest followed the band steadily.

"All right, children, gather 'round! Want to see some tricks?" Boney becoked a gathering crowd of children. He bought time as much as he could until the band reached him and stopped. In no time, Linda was ordering him to move.
"I am a mage. If you don't want me to fry you with a bolt of lightning, you will be wise enough to move away," she said sternly.
"Aye? Don't talk like that around the children; their ears should not hear such violent speech at such a young age."
Meanwhile, Sam, Gan, and the others, as stealthily as they could, boarded the cart and carried the Doomguard away. At a steady rate, they moved the heavy material away as fast as they could.
They were five yards away when Linda noticed Boney's eyes shifting towards the right every now and then. Her brows met and she quickly turned behind to see an empty cart.
"NO!" she shrieked. "You!" she shrieked some more, turning back to Boney. "Where is it?" By now Taron searched for the Doomguard, and so did the others. Boney got into a state of panick and ran away into the direction where Sam and the others were. Linda chased him and saw the Doomguard being carried. She ran after them, and it wasn't very long before she reached a striking distance for a spell.

“Sam?” Gan’s voice seemed distant. It echoed a bit in his mind before he realized he was being called upon.
“Wha—? Oh. Right. Sorry, I was just lost in my head.” He had been thinking about the mystery cargo. He took a large interest in it, despite the fact that he had been involved in a good number of trivial troubles due to his curiosity. This is something big, he thought. I have to know. It all for the peace of his mind; he probably won't rest until he satisfies this curiosity.
“Aye? Well, what’s it about?”
“Huh? Oh, nothing. All this matter about Solarans and Kylenians and Ironclads is getting to me, but it’s nothing to worry about.”
“Indeed, nothing to worry about,” agreed Gan. “As part of the SAFT, we’re neutral, which I think is the best place to be during this time of turmoil.” He patted Sam on his back. “More ale, please, over here!” he called to a nearby waiter.

OOC: I'll try to come up with a way to make my character more involved.

IC: "So anyway, from what I hear, the cargo you folks lost, it's more important than just armor and weapons," spoke Gan.
"Really? They never told any of us about it," replied Sam, and took a swig at his drink. Gan was probably his closest friend, also an all-ears person.
"Of course not. They can't share something that important to just anyone."
"What about Captain Kode? The Solarans took him. I bet he knew what was inside. I mean, he's the captain of the [i]Falcon/i]."
"I don't know, lad, I don't know."

OOC: I have to cut it here.

After explaining to the captain what the Solarans have said about the cargo, Sam was relieved of the interrogation.
"All right! All right! Let's bring her home! To your posts, men!" shouted the captain. The crew members swiftly obeyed their orders and got into position. Sam stayed with the Falcon.

The Falcon arrived, which brought some cheers to some of the SAFT members. Its crew was soon engaged in story-telling; exaggeration was quite inevitable. Sam, on the other hand, had enough story-telling for one day. He got himself some food and asked around for the current news. He was told of the apprentice mage from Sol and another ambassador from the same side, the offers from the other factions, and the like. This includes the Solaran ships that will be inspected some time soon, which brought about his interest. He decided he'll keep himself updated on this one.

"Well, sir," began Sam. "We were going about our business as usual, headed for the basin. Now, nobody expected nothing to happen like what happened. I was below the deck when I heard what sounded like trouble. I heard feet running around heavily above. I rushed up and saw two Solaran ships surrounding us, and there was some tough-looking men aboard. Not too many of 'em, but there were enough. Said they won't harm us unless we fight, and with the weapons the got and us being surprised and all, nobody dared.
"Rough, they were, and they trapped us under. They locked us up, then took care of our cargos. Left the boxes empty. Even took our money. There was one Solaran they kept talking about, said he will be the one to head this ship. I think they didn't like him much.
"Some time passed and they carefully took us above. There they gagged us and tied us up together. They left us with the Solaran. And then rescue comes, and here we are."
"Very well," said the captain. After a short while of thought, he added, "Do you remember anything that they said concerning the cargo? Now, think about this carefully, lad."
Sam pondered. "Aye, I think I recall something."

OOC: Heh, I haven't done serious RPing in a while, forgive me.

Black-haired and dark-eyed Sam is an average sailor. He's quite a witty fellow, and he likes to travel a lot.
