I was wondering about this, too. Evidently the 100-town bug only occurs when leaving towns 100-127. If a scen skips those intermediate ones, it can have more than 100 towns. I read this in a thread crediting this discovery to Vince Fizz, so the accuracy of my information is questionable. EDIT: Here, if you want to read about it. Somewhere about halfway through that post, I thought to myself, "What's really behind that door is the superposition of the wave functions of the possibility of the Lady being there and the possibility of the Tiger being there." :P EDIT: BSC, do you RP? Because if not, you seriously should. (This post is in response to a request from the designer made after a conversation on AIM.) Hookay, relevant articles from the Designer's Forum. Dungeon Design, by Alcritas -- I'm guessing this is directly relevant. Vahnatai - Friend or Foe? by Drakefyre -- vahnatai evil villain types have been done in the past. OFTEN. And they get old really darn quickly. Tell a Good Story by Drizzt -- on plot. Since I gather your scen has no plot, er, this might be a nice place to start to make one. The Evolving Role of Dungeons by Drizzt -- just another reminder that mindless killing is not great scenario material. From the Scenario Workshop: Common Mistakes in Scenario Design by Jeff Vogel -- see "the big room syndrome." Basic But Vital Tips by TM -- for instance, "Limit your combat." Probably a long, detailed trip to the Lyceum, where BoE has happened for the past six years, would be instructive. Also a good, long look through the articles in the Scenario Workshop and its BoE equivalent would probably do some good. For the BoE articles, you can avoid the more technical specifics, but the articles cited above and several others detail general theory that is just as applicable to BoA as BoE. EDIT: And please, edit that previous message to take out a few of the O's to prevent board stretching. Don't just take his word for it. Take MY word for it, because I have no monetary interest in convincing you that BoA is more powerful than BoE. This thing can do stuf that you would not even be able to ATTEMPT in BoE. In BoE, you could easily run out of nodes in a town. In BoA, your script is allowed to be up to about 164k or so -- not likely to be a problem in most cases. In BoE, you could easily run up against the nodes-in-a-row limit. (It was something like 60, I think.) In BoA, it's on the order of thirty thousand. Add in the ability to check any call labeled "short" (and there are a LOT) in a math expression, instead of relying on those darn If-Thens, some of which didn't even work, and the ability to work with variables, and creature and terrain scripts, and, oh, well, I could go on. BoE was powerful, as designers discovered over the years. BoA is far more powerful, if a bit harder to learn. Er, and placing walls gets much easier with practice. Experience with BoE will actually hurt you in this case, rather than helping you. Oh, and if you like BoE better, keep using it. There will always be players, and the Lyceum will always keep up its community support. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Come to think of it, this was not a bad topic to revive, of all topics. And you did contribute something new. Thus, no worries. As for the CoC, it stands for the Code of Conduct. The admin of this board is named Drakefyre, and your name does bear a striking resemblance to his, although it would be rather hard to confuse the two of you, so it's probably not a big deal. Well, unless some mod tells you that it is. EDIT: To return to the topic: in GF3, I'll probably name my drayk "Drakey." If by "episodes" you mean "scenarios," they're all on the Spiderweb tables, mostly under Solid Adventures. Yeah, the Creator's nuts. Falling Stars with a level 1 party, Tomorrow with a level 1 party, and now this? Gah. He must be stopped! :P -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! That name cannot POSSIBLY be CoC-compliant. I went to check this, and it does indeed exist. It's not even a custom graphic (since the sheet number isn't in the 500's). However, I noticed something else unrelated: ADoS, you probably want icon 0, not icon 1, if you're making a pillar. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Well, you could always toss in my Search-Block instead, which IMHO you should do anyway.... I doubt the problem is within specobj itself. Re-check the memory cell, re-check your spelling of specobj, re-check the town state, make sure the town script is actually running at the time and not stopped by an error somewhere else. I don't know what else it could be, but those are the obvious things to look at. Oh, and to make sure that state 20 isn't being called at all, stick a print_str on the front of it that says something distinctive. That's screwed me up a few times -- I had a one-time whose flag was mixed up with another one-time's flag, so it just never activated at all. EDIT: And for the record, I have never heard of a "panal." I've heard of a "panel," though.
