Not happening. BoA's level mechanics basically means that monsters get so big that even one skeleton (they're set as level 15 or summat) is too much for a level 1 party- too many HP, and no truly reliable way to down it.
Well, not saying that you can't prove me wrong, but good luck. -_-

Was your level one party equiped with the best of stuff? Either way, very impressive. Lucky for you, I am not skeptical. Until I learn otherwise i Will accept what you did, as a joke ;)
But if you did do it, very good job!

Creator? You eat men's souls for breakfast.

Obvious, required, questions - was DwtD your first scenario entered with this party? Did you at any point use the character editor on this party for any reason? Feel like divulging your basic party makeup?

Oh, and because it's DwtD - which path did you take to beat the scenario? (answer will be spoiler, obviously)

Even Thuryl was saying that he didn't think this sort of thing would be possible a while back, so, um, allow me to say:

Wow.

Have you done ZKR, too?

What would be the point if I'd cheated in any way? It was all legitimate, no character editor, no previous scenarios or anything like that.

I used four priests - enough Priest Spells (3 levels) to get Repel Spirit, and a bunch of dexterity so they would get first strike. And I picked my fights carefully early on. I went against Vahkohs.

I have not done ZKR. I haven't even played ZKR in BoA. It bored me enough the first time.

Exact statistics? In combat, did you use haste to give yourself an extra boost? Did you bless much? How did you survive the "ray" attacks of the avatars?
I'm in disbelief- but I suppose that I'll have to try it myself.

You know if anyone was going to do it, it would be The Creator. If I remeber correctly he did several other almost impossable tasks back in the days of BOE.

This has probably been asked somewhere else in the boards, but my searches didn't find anything.
Hey Creater, where do you have your episodes?

If by "episodes" you mean "scenarios," they're all on the Spiderweb tables, mostly under Solid Adventures.

Yeah, the Creator's nuts. Falling Stars with a level 1 party, Tomorrow with a level 1 party, and now this? Gah. He must be stopped! :P

Creator - Well, sometimes I allow myself certain uses of the character editor. Replenishing my stats in the final town of Cave of No Return instead of backtracking across that huge second floor to get out of the cave, for example.

(Sometimes, I'll also cheat in an invulnerability potion if the designer implements some sort of unavoidable "level check" - but the last time I can remember doing this was in Bandits 2 (Phyreus), and I didn't feel bad since I'm pretty sure I could have bought those potions in town beforehand had I been forewarned.)

Well, yeah, fair enough. But I was trying to challenge myself, not beat it fairly. :P

Exact stats? Well, obviously they changed a fair bit as I went, but in essence:

4 Nephil priests, all with Fast on Feet and Naural Mage, and with 10 dexterity so I could act before the basic forms of undead (zombies, skeletons, etc). I got more dexterity as I went. They all had enough Priest Spells to cast Repel Spirit, and I obviously got as many levels of that spell as I could.

One of them I focussed on getting Intelligence. One on getting Mage Spells. One on getting more Priest Spells, and one on Tool Use. By the time I finished I could cast Divine Retribution and Fireblast. Also, I discovered that Intelligence is useless. There was no difference between my smart priest and any of the others. So I stopped getting him any more levels in anything. I could have got him more Priest/Mage Spells, but I couldn't afford them for the guys who could learn them, so I just hung on to he skill points in case they came in handy. I did much the same thing with my lockpicker once there wasn't anything he couldn't pick. So I was level 17 when I finished, and two of my PCs had 50+ spare skill points.

Toughest fight was those Spectral Avatars on the bridge. I hardly ever hasted myself (only for the Vahkohs fights), simply because if I didn't bring down a few enemies in the first round, I was usually dead. Blessing, again, hardly ever. I just tried not to get hit.

I'm suprised people are making such a big deal out of this. Tomorrow was a tougher challenge (not winning the fights as much as unlocking the chests to get the stuff I needed to win the fights!).

EDIT: Back in the days of BoE? It's STILL the days of BoE.

My 'episodes', if you mean scenarios, are indeed on the Spiderweb tables. Look for 'barcoorah' in the author's email field. If you're talking about the parodies I did, you can probably unearth them somewhere back in the BoE forum. If not, TM has them up at the Lyceum.

Possibly it helps for mage spells, but I found absolutely no difference in the power of Repel Spirit (at the same level, of course) cast by a priest with 8 intelligence and one with 2 intelligence.

So, just give your magic-users some points to get magery?

If intelligence doesn't help, then magery won't. It's odd that intelligence doesn't though, because the BoA Docs say that its damage is increased by your bonus. (it's been known to be wrong, though; it isn't too surprising).

EDIT: After doing some testing with the character editor, I found that Intelligence does increase Repel Spirit's damage.

Each level of intelligence only increases damage by 1. Since the amount of damage is randomized anyway, I suppose it's possible that you didn't notice 6 extra damage, especially if you were unlucky.

Still not entirely true. Scripts can check for intelligence. Intelligence affects other stats, such as Rune Reading, both directly and indirectly (through Arcane Lore). It also increases mana. It has little effect on spell damage, but it has many other effects.

It's effectively useless. Does anyone know what Magery does, or how effective Magical Efficiency really are? Personally, I'd just buy spell levels and make (or pick up) energy potions/elixirs.

Magical Efficiency is very useful. I have a lot and can cast my more simple spells for nothing  .

I thought I was just hallucinating when it seemed like Magery did nothing. I guess not. It seemed pretty powerful in the Trilogy, but in Blades, I haven't noticed its effects really at all.

My god party has Magical Efficiency at about fifty, and I cast Arcane Blow and that sort of thing for about 3 or 4 sp. I think it doesn't have that much effect until you get a fair amount of it (say ten or so).

Having 1 Efficiency (via Cloak of Clarity) occasionally helped reduce my heal spell to 1 spell point rather than 2. Magical Efficiency seems to be a worthy investment, from my experiences.

But it would be interesting to know how much Mage Spells, Intelligence, and Magery affects damage, etc.
