The map of Valorim is the outdoors of Avernum 3/Exile 3. That's available at various A3/E3 sites. The three other continents have been named but not mapped, at least by Jeff. EDIT: To be slightly more useful than I was before, here's a maps site and the only reference we have to the other continents: "THE LANDS OF THE EMPIRE - The Empire, blessed power over us all, controls the four known continents. Aizo, the oldest, is the birthplace of the Empire, although the ruling seat is now on the continent of Pralgad. Vantanas is the smallest continent, but in many ways the richest, with its hot climate, fascinating fauna, and rich stores of gold and diamonds. And finally, there is the recently settled Valorim, which has a wild (though controlled) spirit." — a book in A3 [ Sunday, June 05, 2005 17:12: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. One thing jumps out at me (junk deleted to prevent stretching): Note the "break" before the special items. Your special items never get initialized. EDIT: I have no idea if this causes an error. I just ran the whole thing through Alint and that's what it told me. I made it all the way through GF1 and GF2 as a Shaper with a pair of fyoras that I kept from the very beginning of each game. When they gain 30+ levels, they're actually pretty effective. I reabsorbed them and made a drayk, but it didn't do even half as much damage as they did. But then, my skills were allocated weirdly. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! Chill there, DV. If you don't have something useful to say, don't say anything at all. I don't actually know what the item numbers are, but you may wish to take a look at the comparable scripts for GF2 and GF1. One was posted recently for GF2. Looking at them a little closer, I suppose they're not bad, as far as these things go. They're usable. I suppose I ought to send a list of graphics that malfunction or are blurry. I'll work on that at some point. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! quote:Because what they come up with is usually pretty mundane. "It's easy to be wrong." Well, forgive me, but I didn't need to study physics to know that. What you realized from your physics education was something deeper than that — under what circumstances you can be sure and be wrong, or in what manner you have to be careful, or something — but turning that into a simple aphorism eliminates the complexity, and the complexity was the only thing that made the lesson worth learning! quote:I think "everyone" is the problem in that sentence. People take different things out of their education. Telling people what to think instead of showing them the evidence that led you to your conclusion is a good way to get people to stop listening to you. Besides, a lot of students will care most about what affects their grades. First teach what you will test; then you can do whatever you want with the time left over. EDIT: That said, I've never heard of John Barrow, but Richard Feynman was pretty cool. I'm going to college not to get a degree that will be directly useful, but to become educated. That's why my classes span such a wide range of non-pre-professional categories. In having that goal, I'm probably the exception (but maybe not alone), which is why college has worked so well for me so far. Physics professors in particular like to wax philosophical about their subjects. I've always hated it when they did. I think if you tried to teach "that things are often a lot simpler than they seem, but that there are also an awful lot of subtle ways of being simply wrong," most of your students would tune out, even if you demonstrated it with examples. I think the side-effects and by-products will come only if you teach the material, especially since everyone gets something different out of the education that he or she receives. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. That was it. Thank you. I think I had the same problem in LP at some point, but I couldn't remember what had caused it. EDIT: Now they have fuzz around them. Gah, time to load the graphic up and take out the noise as best I can. I swear, when I get a graphic off the Louvre and it actually works right away, I feel incredibly lucky. I can't get Frahhamn's slith graphics from the Louvre to show up in the outdoors. I've defined them in the custom objects script and they show up fine in town mode. I try to put them somewhere with Outdoor Preset Encounters and they're invisible. I change the encounter to a different kind of monster, and it shows up. I change it back to those sliths and the encounter vanishes. This leads me to believe it's these sliths in particular. I opened it up in the app and went past the spot where it was supposed to be, and it entered combat with the sliths properly, but nothing showed up in the outdoor section. Anyone have any idea what gives? Normally I solve these sorts of problems myself, but I don't feel like it this time. EDIT: I'm using the latest version of the 3D Editor, the latest version of BoA, and Mac OS 10.2. Yes, you need the brass key from the Libraries. Notice that one of the books is missing in the far northeast.
