Well, undoubtedly, there would be no such switch on Alorael's neck for the ferrets to pull. However, as the switch on the robot will be located at around the base of the skull, there is a good chance that the ferrets, while burrowing into Alorael's flesh in a futile attempt to find the switch, will inflict sufficient damage on the neck area to mortally wound our beloved moderator.

Was there really a need to bring abortion into this?

Personally, I oppose abortion, although for reasons which are more moral in origin than religious. But I don't wish to talk about it, so I won't.

Thanks for the very timely information, SMoE. I have just ordered construction on my Alaskan facility to cease, and I will soon order the demolition of the partially constructed building and put the property up for sale. Luckily, the area is hot real estate and will sell very quickly, perhaps even at a higher price than that at which it was purchased. In the mean time, I will locate Alorael's new place of residence, and buy property as close as possible to it. After this has been accomplished, I will go ahead with my initial plan...

Ah, it's a shame I didn't get on Spidweb earlier. This has always been one of my most prevalent concerns.

I usually like to dedicate a large portion of time in my day to thought, and this question is a very persistent one in my thought processes. Being an extremely lazy brand of human, I constantly question whether the work I do in life is really worth anything at all. Being forced to work without any guarantees is agonizing and unacceptable for me. Family members constantly tell me that while working hard at college will not guarantee me a good job and such, it will greatly increase the probability of worldly success. However, worldly success, as we all know, is not necessarily a well-paved road to happiness. I ask of my well-meaning relatives, will any amount of hard work guarantee me happiness? And I get no satisfactory answer.

My ever-present preoccupation with my unavoidable fate (a life consisting of never-ending work) often leads me to question why humanity as a whole holds what strikes me as a rather unhealthy obsession with work and progress. To me, progress strikes me as being a distinctively false sort of word. When you think about it, what is termed "progress" is often not really positive change at all. For example, all the improvement, especially in the first world, in medical technology has resulted in a greatly increased human life span. And what good does this do the human race and Earth as a whole? As we all know, the human population is growing so quickly that Earth will not be able to support all of us for more than a few generations. Also witness the huge quantity of resources and capital invested by so many countries into the research and developement of nuclear weapons. What is humanity working towards, one may ask? In some ways, its own destruction.

I'm religious as well, and being a Hindu I believe that this world is not necessarily real, but that it serves as a sort of challenge, a test which must be passed. One does not pass the test, however, by accumulating money, mansions, fine wine, or ex-wives. The only way to pass the test of life, in my understanding, is to succeed in becoming immune to worldly desires and temptations, and in stabilizing one's mind, overcoming the tendency to extremes in emotion. One who has attained this state of even-mindedness will be able to look at a rock, then at a diamond, and register no alteration in emotions in the transition. Of course, like everyone else, I have absolutely no idea how one can attain this status.

Well, in that case I shall inform you of a few choice facts. I have recently purchased a small piece of land in Alaska. I have ordered workmen to build me a domed building to occupy this land. This domed building, once completed, will contain not only a barracks area filled with tiny cots, but a dining room, kitchen, restrooms, and weight room, all built on an extraordinarily small scale. In addition, a certain long, narrow room will be set up in the center of the facility. This room will contain numerous strategically-placed obstacles, and at the end of the room a large robot shall be installed. This robot will contain a large, sophisticated computer deep within it, which shall house not only powerful artificial intelligence capabilities, but an advanced targeting system as well, for the monstrous sniper rifle which the robot shall wield. A switch shall be located on the robot's neck area, and flipping this switch shall disable the robot, until the said switch is flipped again. When the robot is in full functioning order, it will be capable of targeting and destroying anything entering the hall. This hall shall be used to carry out a masterful training exercise. I shall divide my ferrets into groups of around fifty. Each group will be ordered to enter the hall and charge toward the robot, avoiding its devastatingly accurate sniping. Once they have reached the robot, they will endeavor to flip the switch on its neck. Undoubtedly, many of my ferrets will perish in the execution of this exercise, but it will be well worth it. By the time this exercise has been completed several times with each group, my army of murderous mustelids shall be well prepared for their chosen mission.

Of course, I will leave it up to you to determine what this most clandestine of missions will consist of...

Well, after nearly three months sporting the same moniker, I have decided to make a change. My new name, A Stughalfian Principle, obviously is no major departure from plain "Stughalf." I suppose the new name serves to underline the manner in which I think and act. I tend to hold to certain strong axioms and principles, and although this is a great help in some situations, more often than not two or more principles tend to conflict with or contradict one another, which, understandably, can send me into a good deal of confusion.

That's fine, RC, I really wasn't offended at all. I just found it surprising, and rather flattering, that anyone would take anything I said seriously. :P

I got nothing. Although I will be getting "Let It Be...Naked" in a few days, probably, along with some clothes. We didn't really celebrate Christmas at all this year, we just kind of got together and sat around for a bit. My oldest sister wasn't able to make it, as she had to go to work in Rockford. We're all a bit too old nowadays to have much enthusiasm at all over Christmas. I can still remember the old days, when I would look forward to it for weeks in advance. Alas, those days are gone forever.

I'm no expert either, but most of the sources I've consulted indicate that it is "five golden rings." Although "golden" might indicate a poorer quality of ring, in my opinion the lyric just sounds better this way.
