No accounts are deliberately deleted. Banned, yes. Deleted, no. As you can see, deletion creates trauma and suffering, and not all of it goes to the intended victim. —Alorael, who is sorry for MM's loss. But hey, think on the bright side! Or think of a bright side. I'm sure there's a silver lining somewhere. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Were the crop fungi also premade? I definitely recall some references to the powerful mages having a hand in their creation from A1. —Alorael, who should load an old save and go bother Patrick himself. He is almost positive that Patrick is the one who talks about all that. Either him or some other old coot in the Tower of Magi. Or maybe Rone. Actually, Avernum is full of coots. Yes, but he only asked for post removal. Since his post has no contents besides the request, there's no reason for it to stay. On the other hand, now that it has been referenced twice, it would be weird for it to vanish. Sorry, Mind. —Alorael, who once again wishes there were a way to sticky a post so some very important advice could be preserved (names removed). Alas, poor UBB! See, TM, usually typos are fixed for sarcastic humor value and mockery. I don't get this one. —Alorael, who can only suppose that it is either a crack at BoE or a crack at Ben. If the former, the UR should have been removed. If the latter, couldn't you find a better time and place? Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

The mushrooms were magically altered to be able to sustain the humans living in Avernum. I believe Patrick was involved in that. —Alorael, who also is sure that there's some edible cave tree, cave shrub, or cave annual. Not all the cave plants can be producers of low quality wood alone. Adept just means skilled, and I don't think anyone, even artsy people, prefer to be inept. Spring, you're misunderstanding titles. The "Member #X" part isn't the title. It's an automatic addition stating, surprise of surprises, the member's number. The title is only what goes before it, and it often has nothing to do with members. Your Postliness Member? A Very Important Date Member? Nuke and Pave Member? Just ignore the members. —Alorael, who gives Spring better odds of being Canned than being Your Postliness within a year. Them's the breaks. Ah, interesting beverage contents. No, it's not really relevant, but... quote:And now you know that cheese in drinks is an ancient and honorable tradition. —Alorael, who will add that most men probably can't stomach such drinks, weak as men are now, but in the good old days folks could chug at least three bowls of cheese-barley-wine and still be sober enough to critique its bouquet. Posting a single word response like that is almost always spam. In this case, because it added nothing to the discussion, it was definitely spam. Please refrain from such posting. —Alorael, who doubts Avernum is much like the poles at all. Extreme northern and southern latitudes get extreme lengths of daylight and night. Avernum is always in a sort of dim but lit state. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I certainly noticed your absence, BSR! Welcome back! I drink a lot of herbal tea and not much black tea. I consider coffee a performance-enhancing drug and use it accordingly even though I think its taste could use a little work. —Alorael, who drinks skribbanes at all times and for all occasions. Its like a performance-prerequisite drug. He just can't do anything without it. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

And it was noticed several times, by several people. They complained vociferously. —Alorael, who still entertains notions of doing the same to reach 10k. Mods can be spammers too. I demand spam rights! And I should know about spam, shouldn't I? —Alorael, who isn't satisfied with being the only one to have his title. Check Spiderweb's ordering page for more ways to register. Online is good if you have a credit card. So is phone. Mail works well if you can send a check or a money order. Sending cash by mail is a bad idea. —Alorael, who believes the loophole described is both excessively tedious and not workable on the Mac version of BoE. It would be more time efficient to find a way to send the money than to work with the VoDT scenario to create something else. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

There aren't any more new people now than before. You just don't notice new people until you've arrived yourself! And now, entirely out of order, welcome to the madhouse, Eagle! You will notice that people are often referred to by names that are entirely counterintuitive. A few of the obvious ones are TM (short for Terror's Martyr), who is member #4; Alec, who currently goes by variations on a theme of Custer; Arancaytar or Aran, who can be identified by the custom title "A very important date;" and yours truly, identifiable by the below signature. —Alorael, who is one of the people who doesn't say much. No, seriously. He's positively taciturn. Honest! Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

If I were a farmer growing mushrooms and mutant trees underground, I'd be too depressed for holidays too. —Alorael, who supposes that Avernum at least guarantees good weather and even (and perpetual) growing seasons. On the downside, your plowlizards wants to eat you and instead of crows you have rabid giant bats, cave slimes, and other horrors of the deep. Such is life. Possibly, but E3 caps at 30000 and discards any excess. I figured A3 was given a much larger buffer because of all the negative money fun. —Alorael, who is no expert with C++, which may not even be the language used to code A3. But there isn't any numeric variable smaller than an int and still large enough to hold a value of 15000, is there? Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Character editor item list Blessed sandals aren't unique. At least one shopkeeper has some, I believe. You get the Naturewalker's Torque if you open each of the caches all over the outdoors of Valorim. Skribbane can be bought in Gale and found wherever there are Rakshasi. I don't remember where to find the last three. —Alorael, who recalls someone writing down where to find every artifact. If anyone has a link to that it would be most helpful. It may even be available through the boards' search function. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Soft drink probably started out as an opposite to hard drink, but now it definitely means soda pop, which I usually call by the specific brand name. Ping Pong is a common term for table tennis here. It's actually a trademark, I believe, but it's become a generic word like Kleenex and Xerox. —Alorael, who covers up all evidence with editing. His original signature, which he must have mistakenly deleted before posting, commented on the interesting link between the presence of an X or two and having a trademark synonymous with the product. The guy in Remerton (that isn't the name of a town in A3, though, is it?) must be an infinite reseller. Sell anything to him and you can buy it back many times. I guess the high price tag causes a glitch where it will let you buy it even if you can't afford it. Seems strange, but that's all I can think of. Then the integer variable limit (±32757) makes your total wealth do odd things as the numbers wrap around. It happens frequently in E3 at least. —Alorael, who doesn't see how that could result in a wealth of -34047, which is outside INT range. Maybe you misremember or maybe it's something else entirely.
