The site is actually up already. If you still can't see it, you need to wait for the updated domain records to reach whatever server is resolving your domains.

We're all set.

The sites have once again been enabled.

Some of the database configuration will take a while to clean up (especially the Endeavor, where I made an awful mess of it). But I've revoked all rights on the old database, so at least now you can be sure that if you do access a database, it's the right one.

Update:

Databases are as good as transferred. I just need to change the configuration files of all those sites to point to the new MySQL server.

Also, the DNS record now points to the DreamHost nameservers. This means that once the records propagate (which can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on whether you are using a crappy DNS server), you will see the new site.

I've sent an email to everyone I'm hosting (which where this board is concerned = Thralni) with the new FTP/MySQL info. Note that this can't be used until your DNS gives you the new server (see above).

The public webspace will be reachable at:

Host: stuff.ermarian.net
User: weather
Password: JTLyk7QJ

Please note once again that not only is the webspace neither private (everyone can see your files) nor safe (everyone can delete your files) nor unrestricted (webspace is limited to 250 MB, and if the ToS are violated it will vanish faster than you can say "liability").

Finally, if by some odd chance you are able to access the site right now, you are still using the old database. This means that if you change anything, it will mysteriously disappear in a few hours.

It also means that if you registered an account at my blog (hey, Tyran), you'll have to do that again in a bit.

The new account has been enabled, so I'll move over the subdomains in alphabetical order.

Note that because not all of this stuff is clearly separated, the entire site will be taken offline for the whole process.

All files have been successfully transferred and the subdomains set up at the new place. The next step is to transfer the databases, which will take some time.

Being the adventurous type, I'm all for it. I've attended a similar convention before (but the community was older as were its members, it was smaller, and they were a lot less insane). It was great fun.

But I'd caution everyone that if we *do* meet anywhere, we would need a filled program of activities/sightseeing tours/excursions because otherwise we'll end up sitting in different corners of the room feeling bored, stupid and embarassed. And that'd be a waste.

I just made an account at the new web host, which will be enabled tomorrow. Once that is done, I will need a few days to transfer files, databases and domain records, after which the site will work as before.

Once the account is enabled and I can upload files, the current site will be locked to ensure that the transfer goes okay. This includes the Encyclopedia, PPP and Statistics, but also the FTP space and Thralni's site.

So if there's anything you wish to look at, change, download or upload, do it in the next 24 hours or do it next week.

Actually, what it will bring is a horde of newbies, most of who are clueless about much of anything, hate the Exile/Avernum series if they even know of it, and consider grammar something for other people. OOC Summary:
Sequoia and Filbert are rushing toward Orloki, but have been momentarily diverted by Edith and Cain, who are close, but below them. Lisha is trapped with the Curator, but Tuulentekija is coming to their rescue. Gnosis is in contact with Tuulentekija, the Curator and soon Melora.

IC:

Even in her current state, she felt an instant as if she had made a mistake. There was a terrible moment in which she hung on with her hands to the sides of the chute, and tested with her feet for the ground that was not below her. Then she let go.

The tunnel bent slightly, until it was sufficiently level to break a free fall, but far too steep to control the sliding. Her feet ahead, she slid and fell through a shaft so narrow that she could not even see where she was going. But for the Shadow that assured her she was safe, she would have resigned herself to certain death by now.

Worse, she was still accelerating. Even through the leather of her armor, she could feel the heat of friction. Wherever she came out, she would have a rough landing.

In response to an unknown reflex, she braced herself for the fall moments before, within short succession, a pale light shone up the shaft from below, the tunnel walls ended and she lay in a bruised heap at the floor of a strange cavern.

Physical pain was dulled by the trance, but she fought to suppress a groan as she sat up and took her bearings.

Where am I?

The chamber she had landed in was vaguely oblong and had several doors leading out of it. Several magical globes hung on the walls and doused the room in a soft white light.

She glanced up at the narrow opening she had fallen out of. That was one way she wouldn't be returning, so she might as well go ahead and try one of the doors. There were three of them, leading in different directions, but the Shadow guided her toward one of them, and she opened it without hesitation.
The feeling of a demonic presence washed over her face like a warm cloud of rot as she entered.

The sound of footsteps soon followed. Two people, hastening through the tunnel ahead.

Cain. That explained the tainted aura. And Edith.

So they crossed the runes. A sudden sense of foreboding crept through her, realizing that Cain, having crossed the runes, would be under the control of Orloki. But his aura felt no different than when she had last left him. Had he truly crossed the runes? But how else could he have left the chamber?

The two came into sight, and - again responding to a command from the spirit that had infused her - Melora held up her hand in a vague gesture that could be anything from a greeting to a warning. Her voice was not her own as she called out to them.

"Halt!"

Oh, and would you consider putting it up as a text file? It's just that those html-formatted messages are rather hard to read, especially when nearly everyone uses big Comic Sans. :P
