Exactly. Like I always say, desktops are for wusses.

I'm actually submitting this post via telnet to port 80.

Well, okay, kidding. But I did do that once. :P

Anyway, someone should just give Alorael a custom title and admin status. Then maybe he will keep his shown name as Alorael.

Oh, and a new thread has been made in General.

Frankly, I wouldn't want to see the monikers stop.

But Almaria doesn't produce Skribbane. I think it's grown on the Isle of Bigail, although it might be further southwest and only passing through there. In any case, they don't have it in Avernum.

No need; they're all eating mushrooms anyway. :P

Hard was my favorite piece too. That's the one that made it onto my mp3 player (whose tiny memory forces me to make a lot of tricky choices).

Mh. Thralni, it was your favorite piece, but not your taste? I'm not sure I understand...

Johnny? Lord of Evil? It's been long. Welcome back, I guess.

Hey, the first reply to an "I'm back" topic is "I remember you" - must be a first.

Perhaps it was also the mistake of letting slip that they'd be parading right outside the window of a hobbyist sniper? :P

Great! :) Personally, I prefer getting a CD though, so I hope that you'll keep both options for any future music you produce. ;)

What the hell are you doing?

This kind of obsessive redundancy would get you Canned if it weren't done on a doomed forum. Spelled out again: Not being the last poster in a topic is not grounds for posting in said topic.

I have always said that custom titles make perfect birthday gifts. Haven't I always said that?

Hint hint.

Happy birthday. Gee, 58? Wherever is time going? Septugenarianism is only 12 years away. :P

Edit: And how do you think "Septugenarian Eskimo" goes with "Member #335"? I think they'd look great on top of each other.

Exile Trilogy for Vista? in The Exile Trilogy

Well, XP is the final stop for me as far as Windows is concerned. I wouldn't take Vista for free.

Yes, computers are getting more powerful, but they aren't meant to be powerful just so the OS can hog all the resources. My idea of an OS is something that runs in the background and controls the hardware with minimal load, and provides a desktop when needed. Leaving the fancy graphics card and CPU to be used by actual applications... :P

I kind of liked it. Although it didn't match up to Sophie's World in any sense.

The Myst trilogy was wonderful, by the way. I've always had a soft spot for the D'ni universe, but this is really fantasy at its finest.

twice as dangerous
On any quantitative scale that makes sense (if there is one), the danger would not be doubled, but squared (or rather the chance of survival would be).

Yesterday, I found a few really old (1978-1980) copies of Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine at a stall outside a bookshop. Unfortunately, there were only German translations, but I bought two anyway.

I never even realized we were approaching a milestone.

But I'll keep my eyes open for the next power of ten.

Goodness. After all this time here, my postcount is still below the number of total members.

This topic strikes me as somewhat macabre.

When standing around the bed of your dying great-grandfather, do you run a book on what his last words are going to be?

Everything going fine? Endeavor run? Archives okay? I'm away on vacation right now and only just got the UMTS thingy working. (I was really scared of being away while the deletion was going on and returning to find my archives in a mess).

Well, it seems to be working, so unless you've noticed any funny mistakes, I'm relieved. :)
