Oldbie is based mainly on time spent in the community. (Actively participating. The fact that I surfed various blades sites in 1998 or opened an account on this forum in 2001 doesn't make me an oldbie, it just makes me old.) Newbie, on the other hand, is based mainly on character. Argh kept that title for months and months, whereas Delicious Vlish never really acted like one. There are a great many people here who are neither oldbies nor newbies, but are somewhere in the middle. I'm sure some of the oldbies will argue with me on this one, because they have this bizarre cosmology where you have to be one or the other. However, that's simply not how the terms are actually used. (Oh look. If you party is all sliths or all nephils, there are frequent situations where the dialog makes no sense and you just have to pretend you're humans. There are workarounds, as (exhaustively) demonstrated in Kel's scenario Bahssikava, but I'm not sure the effort would be worth it, for a full-sized game that focuses on humans. Troglos, I think, could actually work; they can communicate with humans, they are the same size, have similar bodily needs, and are of comparable capabilities.
