Yes, even I must admit to being a little confused by all this. Which is why my first contribution to this topic was a nonsensical sentence followed by three pictures. That was as close as I could come to making a sensible statement in the general context. First it was about signs, then the Navy, and now all heck's blown loose.

Besides, I thought we were following Plan AZ-51520941a/TY456asdf8787xzc8! When did we switch to Q? Did I miss an official cult luncheon or something?

Yes, it's exactly this sort of thing that gives elections a bad name. Hence the reason why I ignored them to begin with! I knew that sooner or later, for one reason or another, it would deteriorate into this sort of thing.

LOL! Fantastic cartoon there! It really captures RW as he is...

Or rather, Richard White as he was. Or might have was. Or how he now wasn't as he used to have been...

"Richard White—Lifelong (& Portmortal) Macintosh Supporter!" This should silence all Mac critics once and for all. For obvious yet cryptic reasons.

Thud. He go sleepy-bye. His body knew it wasn't getting enough sleep, so it did a forced shut-down. Sleep deprivation problem solved.

What I've read of this particular sub-genre is rather overblown and repetitive, and quickly becomes tiresome. They try to do too much and succeed in doing very little. However, I do enjoy a book like this once every three years or so, just for the change of pace from my usual SF reading.

I'm continuing my tradition of poo-pooing a possible Blades of Geneforge for reasons which are too tedious to repeat here. Anybody who would like to know some of these reasons can do a search of the forums while crossing their fingers in hope that at least one of my posts on this topic hasn't fallen prey to most recent of Uncle Stalin's board-purges.

In recent months, I've become even more antagonistic towards this idea, for a series of reasons even more tedious to list.

Considering the question is "goes" rather than "has gone," it's a question of regular habit rather than personal record of unwashedness.

"12 hours" wasn't on the list, so I didn't cast a vote. Yes, you heard me, 12 hours. I live in the freakin' desert and you get soggy then crusty after just a few hours, so I shower upon waking and then again shortly before retiring. I wash my hair only in the morning, and just do more of a quick rinse in the evening—I'm sort of splitting one long shower into two quick ones. So it's not like I'm wasting millions of gallons of heavily chlorinated water every day that would be better spent being sucked down to Los Angeles to fill some idiot's pool.

EDIT: I just realized that within the space of mere minutes, I've revealed more of my personal life on these boards than ever before. Now everybody knows that when I'm not asleep, I'm in the shower!

I usually get ten hours. That seems to be my body's natural requirement. Maybe I'm part feline.

Over four years ago I had an onset of several health problems, one of which was extreme difficulty in falling asleep. Nasty. Very, very nasty. Especially when you're at college and it goes untreated for, like, four months. For most of that time I was getting maybe 2-3 hours of sleep per night. While that may have been fine for some of you "Hey, yeah, I slept last week" Tipp Tucker weirdos, I need at least 8 to function at all. So this was like being run over by a truck every night for four months. Pure Oucharama® in Technicolor®.

Fortunately I eventually received treatment for this from a sleep specialist, and am still on the medication since I still have severe difficulty in getting to sleep without it. It's not a sleeping pill, but apparently supplies a chemical that the brain needs to fall asleep that my body isn't producing in sufficient quantities anymore. I don't know why it happened or what it is—it's all pretty strange, and my doctor had heard of only a handful of cases like mine. I've also started experiencing sleep paralysis since the onset of my sleeping difficulties, which is another huge boatload of no fun, I can tell you.

So with problems like these, I treasure every golden moment of sweet slumber that comes my way and have difficulty understanding how some people can willfully deprive themselves of sleep on a regular basis.

Did Jeff do the conversion of Exile 3 for Linux, or did somebody else do that? And why did just the third game get this conversion, rather than the first one or second?

I-C-S-H-I. But without the hyphens, and only the first letter capitalized. :P

Besides, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. And considering I hold the dubious honor of being the King of Galactic Core (which appears on my job description as "Ruling a World of Molten Lava"), it's only fitting that my name crops up from time to time in Galactic Core discussions. Can I help it if I'm a trend-setter (more accurately termed "Warping the minds of my fellow morons")? :D

And even if all this weren't true, I think it's a rather nice name that flows melodiously off the tongue, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if people just went around in an aesthetic daze saying "Icshi, Icshi, Icshi..." to themselves. :P

Good Lord! That is to say: Good Lord!

Expect a demo in 2002? And it features "cunning towns"? What might those be, praytell? Does the city itself attack you? Do the buildings pull bricks out of themselves and fling them at you? What the heck?

Maybe Homeland II isn't finished yet because nobody finished the first game, so it turns out the Devourer never was prevented from entering our world. We're all doomed apparently. How very sad.

Nobody told me the world came to an end! Typical. I'm always the last to hear anything.

EDIT: Hey, look at this:

Pretty cool, huh? I found that on the Homeland II page. This is probably that Devourer fellow. Creepy. Almost made the trip over there worthwhile.

Yes, but in this case, the truth is ever-changing. One day, the firmly established fact is that his soul ascended to a higher plane and is now scouting the universe to prepare the way for Galactic Core 3, while the next day it turns out he suffered the rather humdrum, ignominious fate of having been pushed off the Space Needle for the gain of a paltry sum of cash.

It's my theory that Richard White retroactively did something to his personal timeline to make his life and demise a vague, shadowy, incessantly mutable thing. There's probably a fluctuating pattern determining which fate he's suffered on which day.

I think at this point, the goal of the Mystic White Cult should be to study and disentangle this pattern so that we can predict how he will have died tomorrow, next week, and the month after that. What greater mystery can there be? How better to pay homage to our mentor?

This either proves that he's some sort of god—exactly what kind of god, I'm not too sure yet as that seems to be always changing too—or that he did this just to keep us amused, as a sort of apologetic recompense for the overall quality of his games. After all, if he couldn't sufficiently entertain us while he was living, why not do your best to make up for it afterwards?

Favorite Movie in General

2001 always annoys me. This monolith forces us to evolve by inspiring us to use tools to kill each other... This is a good thing? Only the middle section, with HAL 9000 and company, was worth watching. In fact, whenever I watch the movie now I just skip both the beginning and end.

I dont' have a single favorite movie, just a bunch of them. It's a waste of time for me to try to rank them, since it depends on what mood I'm in (as someone else mentioned above). So here's some of them, the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

THX-1138

Star Wars—all of them except Episode I, with Episode III being the best (in fact, I'm going to go see it today for the third time, this time with my brother)

The Lord of the Rings—all three

Brazil

Time Bandits

The Adventures of Baron Monchausen (however you spell it)

Twelve Monkeys

Playtime (Jacques Tati's 3rd Mr. Hulot film)

The Chronicles of Riddick (the director's cut)

Napoleon Dynamite ("I wish you'd get out of my life and shut up!")

Clear and Present Danger

Conan the Barbarian (inferior to Robert E. Howard's original stories, but the action scenes and music are great)

Soylent Green (big surprise there, I'm sure) ;)

Koyaanisqatsi

Baraka

The Thirteenth Floor

Hellboy

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

The Wages of Fear

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Fancy Pants

Scavenger Hunt

Oscar

What's Up, Doc?

Clue

Breaker Morant

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (naturally)

And a few dozen others that I can't think of at the moment, but will remember a few hours from now and will kick myself for having left them off the list.
