If Avernum 4 ends up like Homeland, then I think it should be entitled: "Avernum 4: The Night of Stones... Kidney Stones. Lots of Them." But in all seriousness, I'm confident the new engine will be nice, or at the very least inoffensive. Let's just hope he doesn't try a cross between the Geneforge, Avernum and Homeland engines... That would be a real-time, with grid squares and endless clicking... which just equals ewwwwwwww... -------------------- Aut Tace Aut Loquere Meliora Silencio Posts: 1487 | Registered: Sunday, February 10 2002 08:00 |

But Nethergate uses an early version of Avernum's engine. -------------------- Polaris - Weather balloons, ninjas, and your big daddy Wise Man. What more could you want? Undead Theories - Don't Ask, Don't Tell Posts: 3323 | Registered: Thursday, April 25 2002 07:00 |

He said he was going to rewrite the engine more or less from scratch, I think. He said the old one was getting clunky. And I swear I have not laughed as hard in months as when I saw the first post of this topic. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. He has described the engine with the unambiguous word "new" and with others such as "shiny" and "nice." —Alorael, who distinctly remembers shiny. This new engine better be good. If it turns out like Homeland, I'm going to go on a homicidal rampage. Or maybe I just won't bother downloading it..... -- Diarog Lethuta Edit: Or maybe I'll download the game and play it, but not enjoy it. I bet Jeff's reading these and he's going to make A4 exactly like we're all fearing it to be. [ Saturday, July 09, 2005 07:58: Message edited by: **lianeoT** ] -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

ter·rif·ic adj.: 1. Very good or fine; splendid: a terrific tennis player. 2. Awesome; astounding: drove at a terrific rate of speed. 3. Causing terror or great fear; terrifying: a terrific wail. 4. Very bad or unpleasant; frightful: a terrific headache. "Terrific" therefore, is a completely useless word, because it has two meanings that are exact opposites. The only way to know which one a person means is by taking it in context. Even then, it's often impossible to tell. :) AdoS, words having more than one meaning are highly useful, e.g. in literature. I tried indeed to express "very bad". -------------------- ^ö^ vegetarians are sexy. Posts: 1420 | Registered: Wednesday, October 2 2002 07:00 |
