The scenario has finally been posted. Please let me know if you have any technical trouble with the scenario like unwanted errors/graphical glitches.

Also, if you've played it, please review it on Spiderweb. Thanks!

Now. Im in the Lost City mines. I have to destroy the Soul-trapping device. I can't direct the beam to the device because the wall is blocking it.
What should I do?

Is the version on Spiderweb v1.0 or v1.0.1?

Are there other beams? Remember beams can destroy crumbling terrain.

Well I finished off the perfect spirit and right after I select

1 - Return to the Lost City

when trying to leave the place I get the following error
Unhandled Exception: c0000005
At address: 004492a8

Though I'm guessing this is more of a bug with Blades of Avernum itself maybe the scenario tries to do something that freaks it out :P .

It looks like a memory error. It crops up sometimes on the PC. Don't know if it's fixable on my end.

Often an illegal value for an argument in a function seems to cause that sort of error. Worth looking at, but of course it's possible that it's Jeff's fault and there's nothing you can do.

It puzzles me that it occurs only at that one point and noplace else. I mean, how often do you leave a town/dungeon in the course of a game. Numerous times; but only Lost Mine /Lost City have that problem. That's why I also thought that something within the script may be responsible for this. I can see the new terrain beginning to appear before I get the error message.
Also, the error did not happen, when I did not pick up Arivan's bracelet. Without the bracelet, switching towns was no problem.

Hope that helps a bit.

Do you have to know Movemountains to beat the scenario?

Nope.

Personally, I consider needing to know Move Mountains or Unlock to beat a scenario to be cruel. Use 'em maybe to protect your bonus treasures, but don't make 'em necessary to your work. (In EM, for instance, I make a cop-out for parties that can't cast Move Mountains. Stareye makes a door for APF. Et cetera.)

There are other problems with switching between the Lost Mine and Lost City. The game slows waaaaay down, graphics become choppy, and then everything speeds back up and becomes fine. The problem is only on entering/exiting.

That error only happens when you have something wrong with your walls. Say if you've made a wall to high, or placed a type 1 door when type 1 is a cliff wall picture. So yes, it should be fixable from your end, even if you don't know what's wrong.

I cannot figure it out. If anyone has an idea, tell me. It's odd because it only seems to break on one platform.

How can you make a wall too high? There are no problems with walls even at 8 tiles high.

(Nevermind the fact that every single wall in that town was 1-height anyway)

This is party a spoiler so don't read farer if you want to figure it out on your own.

After you distoryed the machine that is holding the spirits in the Lost Mine you will need to make the beams be directed where they power the teleportal in the West part of the mine. It does make it easier if you go back the the Lost City and than re-enter the Lost Mine cause it resets the mirrors.

I'd love a spoiler - I'm getting very frustrated getting dead all the time. How do you defeat that ball of light thing? I found what I think is the controller, but there is no way to destroy it? Can't move the power rays. Just a hint, please..

If you've found the controlling device, you should have got a message a little while later that tells you what to do.

You cannot move the power beams, but what you can move are the mirrors.

I found that while beta-testing and reported it several times(for different versions). In the end, since it wasn't fixed, I figured it had to do with the editor/game itself and couldn't be fixed.

I found the lost city very frustrating. Having to go all the way to the southern room to find the second mirror was almost impossible - the only way I managed to get by was being lucky enough to use the mirror to catch the energy sphere in the path of a beam and kill it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I'd have died long before I properly positioned the beams.

Well even if it's the fault of the scenario data Jeff should have the program bail out a bit cleaner with an error message that provides the right details about the problem :P .

Two windows pop up. The first with the actual error code, the second gives the information that avernum.exe caused an error and has to be shut down. That could point to a bug somewhere in the interrelation between the game engine and the Windows OS, which Stareye inadvertently triggered in one specific area of his scenario.
Maybe Jeff Vogel should be asked for his opinion.

You go into combat mode and haste the character pushing the mirrors. This gives you enough time to finish the mirrors easily.
