Beta report sent. [edit:] I'd just like to tell you that I didn't mean to be as nasty as I probably was. I was just trying to get you to realize that this scenario just might not be worth releasing, just like RC. I still hope you keep on practicing with the editor, and on your writing. What bugged me the most wasn't insufficent scripting (like you yourself had thought, I heard), but the graphical errors, the lacking dialog, the weak plot, and your way of dumping all the artifacts to one, single room. Remember, that this probably was your first serious attempt with the editor. Memorize the knowledge and experience gained from this project, your next one will, undoubtedly, be better. :) [ Wednesday, July 14, 2004 10:24: Message edited by: CHOKEONIT ] -------------------- The Great Mister kommari@gmail.com Posts: 417 | Registered: Sunday, June 27 2004 07:00 |

This scenario had better be amazingly good to make up for this -- for lack of a better word -- wangdanglery. EDIT: And evidently it's not. Oh well. And again, I shall have to agree with TGM. Your scenario needed a lot more work...but hey, at least you actually tried to make one. It'll take maybe several attempts before you get a good one out but don't give up just because this one was a failed experiment. I'd recommend to draw out your scenario on paper first, including dialog and everything and then move it to the editor for the final application. Making a scenario is hard work...making a good one will take you time. So why not? Take your time. quote:I'm not worth releasing, eh? :P -------------------- Austrian Alex Posts: 1307 | Registered: Tuesday, May 7 2002 07:00 |

If there is nothing else. The people who are releasing and trying new things are already doing better than the ones who haven't sent anything out. There were a few good things in the scenario. The trap maze was interesting and a few of the fights were not bad. I would rather have something new and not perfect than nothing. I think of the first few scenarios as experiments. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. quote:Yeah, That happened to me, too. First Tower problems: There is no way to get out of the Control Room because of the ledges at points A and B The door at point C cannot be picked. When you cast Unlock Doors, you can't see the entire message in the text box at the bottom. You exit the Tower when you step into the back of the room with the giant spell-casting spiders(point D), causing one to have to enter the tower again from the back in order to get back in. The Vahnatai Lord at point E isn't hostile. The scorcerer in the holding cell at point F won't talk to you. And I'm not sure if it's intentional, but there's also a door at point G that just seems really out of place. -------------------- Soy sauce makes everything better. I concur with RC's statements, and feel, as I think many people do, that this is just a first attempt and should at least be given merit on the fact that Archimage Micael tried and can now learn from the feedback that he is granted from our testing of the scenario. As for my test of it, the overall landscape is blase, with a lack of details. These of course, take time, and I'm sure that with effort, could be sculpted into a fully fledged outdoor panorama. A question for you though, Archimage, do you plan on continuing farther laterally with the map? I examined it in the editor and found that you made the entire number of outdoor sections to be 50 in the x direction. Here's hopes that you continue to edit this fledgling scenario. :D -------------------- Life is short. Use a Mac. Posts: 85 | Registered: Wednesday, July 14 2004 07:00 |

I concur with the last few posters... much more work is needed to flesh this out into an enjoyable scenario. I did have fun in some parts, though. I would say that the most critical thing to tune would be the rewards balance. The scenario takes less than an hour to complete, and you get upwards of fifty knowledge brews out of it. -------------------- "'I saw the duckling hatch and disappear. Ok, I got the updated version. Problems with Small Cave I STILL can't get through those secret doors. I think maybe you should just not have them locked. Problems with the tower: The spider room exit problem still stands In the room with the "Room of gathered items", there is a wall on top of a cloak of some sort, making it impossible to pick up. When I try to speak to the sorceror, I got an error message saying that I tried to start a dialogue, but there wasn't a dialogue script loaded The message is still cut off when I cast Unlock Doors Vahnatai Lord is still not Hostile. And I need to take a nap........... -------------------- Soy sauce makes everything better. Except for Giant Intelligent Friendly Talking Spiders. I'm fixing those errors still. The Vahnatai Lord isn't meant to attack you - that's the dragon's job. And I've fixed the dialog Errors. There are now a lot more talking options in SMALL CAVE, you get told the entrance to the hidden town, you canm get out of the control room in the vahnatai tower. The end battle is getting boosted. You get a lot less powerful items, unless you find the HIDDEN CITY ofcourse, where you get TONS of Items... And I might be making a HIDDEN CITY 2 for even more special items. I'll send you a copy when it's ready to be re-tested. If anyone does not wish to re-test it please post so with your email address - and I can remove your email address from my address book. Thanks for TRYING to test it. - Archimage Micael P.S. I'd be willing to help you improve the towns, but that would slow you down pretty much, seeing as you'd have to wait for me to e-mail my works to you before you could change things.. :P -------------------- The Great Mister kommari@gmail.com Posts: 417 | Registered: Sunday, June 27 2004 07:00 |

It's not THAT bad, and it's meant to be Vahnvoi. I got bored with just Vahnavai and Hraithe, so I created a new one. These are an AWFUL lot harder. It is possible to get to HIDDEN CITY now, and there's an entire set of custom items to be had. All with brilliant stats. Ofcourse, you have to find it to get there. Now, I am working hard on editing it, with the help of Crimson Editor, which really speeds up my scripting. THANKS FOR THAT! My only little problem at the moment is outdoor sculpting, re-town editing, and dialoging. If anyone's got any tips I'd love to hear them. - Archmage Micael P.S. Oh, and I've heard that people LOVED mirror/laser things, so I've made a small puzzle. :D -------------------- "You dare Trifle with Avernum?" ~ Erika the Archmage -------------------- My Scenarios: Undead Valley : A small Undead problem, what could possibly go wrong? -------------------- Richard Black - PROOF of his existance (the Infernal one's website). -------------------- MY FORUM! It's THAT BAD and FAR WORSE. If you actually do the General Public the misservice of releasing this atrocity, Spidweb will have to create a scenario category for scenarios with scores of 1.0-1.9. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |
