The Prestige was in theaters barely over a year ago. That's not nostalgia. That's an absence of pathologically extreme neophilism. —Alorael, who recommends watching The Battleship Potemkin, again or for the first time. That's nostalgia for a brighter, more revolutionary past. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

A great movie, but certainly not old. If you want more dated David Bowie goodness, watch Labyrinth. -------------------- You lose. Posts: 2156 | Registered: Thursday, August 24 2006 07:00 |

Or 12 Angry Men... EDIT: If you are really feeling nostalgic, you could watch the first movie ever Roundhay Garden Scene ... [ Tuesday, February 19, 2008 03:36: Message edited by: Lt. Sullust ] -------------------- Lt. Sullust Quaere verum Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

In that case, I'll add that while movies can be improved by nostalgia, very few movies are improved by nostalgia enough that bad movies become passable. It only really helps the movies that were worth seeing again anyway... @_@ —Alorael, who couldn't resist ending his paragraph with that little visual flourish. It seems like the fin du jour. @_@ Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Hmmm...The Sound of Music is one of my favorites. I like a lot of old movies actually, but I'm too tired right now to recall all of them. quote:It was just too funny seeing Jim Henson puppets dancing around David Bowie. quote:Ack, hated it! It didn't even pretend to make sense. And who was in charge of wardrobe anyway? His outfit was just hideous. He's supposed to be the goblin king, shouldn't he at least look better then the other goblins? Worst Jim Henson film I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few. On the other hand, when I want to return to the good ole days, I just pull out Batteries not Included or Short Circuit... or TMNT or Ghost Busters... or Star Wars 4, 5, & 6 or LotR trio... wait that's not old, um... Romancing the Stone? No, Crocodile Dundee, yeah that was a classic. 500 -------------------- Forever Always on Past the End TrueSite for Blades - Blades Walkthroughs Pixle Profusion - BoE Graphics Archive Posts: 563 | Registered: Tuesday, July 27 2004 07:00 |

quote:You remind me of the babe :P . Man, that movie sucked. It was plain terrible. Except for the puppy, and Ludo. Completely unrelated, but that same week (when I first watched Labyrinth) we decided to watch all three extended versions of LotR back to back. So much fun. I've seen more movies than I dare try to count. Out of these, I've assembled a list of some good & bad ones. Here's a bunch of good older movies, some of which I can't get enough of: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Arsenic and Old Lace The Big Sleep (1946) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly North By Northwest Charade Dr. No Groundhog Day The Blob Murder By Death Clue Citizen Kane King Kong (1933) The Dirty Dozen The Pink Panther (1964) Casino Royale (1967) The Dark Crystal The Man Who Knew Too Much (1955) The Magnificent Seven Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb La Cage Aux Folles Now, here's some bad movies: Plan 9 from Outer Space The Blue Lagoon Terminator Super Mario Bros. King King (2006) The Pink Panther (2006) Hairspray quote:I've seen several of their films. Both of them were great, highly talented actors, probably better than many today. quote:Puhleeze, you tell me who looks better. The goblin with the stylish two horned helmet and delicious sausage link necklace, or the poofy haired man wearing the frilly white shirt under the sad saggy grey and brown jumper? (which, I might add, was accompanied by very tall high heal boots) Watching him try to dance and sing in this outfit was pure torture. -------------------- Forever Always on Past the End TrueSite for Blades - Blades Walkthroughs Pixle Profusion - BoE Graphics Archive Posts: 563 | Registered: Tuesday, July 27 2004 07:00 |

Groundhog Day was a good movie, but you had to pay close attention to pick up some details. It wasn't until my third time watching it that I realized "I've Got You Babe" played every morning related to the whole story. -------------------- Decca Records - "We don't like their sound.
