Hey there, I know there are a few kiwi fans out there but I'm curious to see how many.....So who else is from New Zealand? And since I live in Dunedin, I'm really curious to see if anyone else is from there specifically? Posts: 12 | Registered: Sunday, January 8 2006 08:00 |

Okay, don't shoot me but is that in the North Island?? I don't even know where that place is. But to be honest the only place in the North Island I really like is Wellington so I don't really take much interest in the rest. Posts: 12 | Registered: Sunday, January 8 2006 08:00 |

It's an Island off the coast of the Netherlands. The name harkens back to when Australia was first discovered and named New Holland. -------------------- "You're drinking liquor because you're thirsty? Um, is this a joke, serious, or is it a cryptic sort of way referring to England? I'm being entirely serious. A Dutch explorer named Tasman discovered both Australia and New Zealand. He named Australia New Holland after his homeland and New Zealand after Zealand because New Zealand is two smaller islands of the coast of Australia just like Zealand is a small island off the coast of the Netherlands. It was only later that the British renamed it Australia to depict its southern location (australis is Latin for south or southern wind.) Zealand truly is an island off the coast of the Netherlands. Oh, I thought you wer talking about England. I didn't make the link between Zealand (its actualle "Sealand", not "zealand." Oh, well, what do I care). and "old" zealand. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Hehe.....All true and interesting stuff but I'm still keen to see if anyone else is from Dunedin. The world is a small place and stranger things have happened. Thanks for the history lesson though. It took me back to when I was 8 and learned all about Abel Tasman. Posts: 12 | Registered: Sunday, January 8 2006 08:00 |

Eh... I seem to have been absent from that particular lesson. It's intertesting to know, though. I actually thought along the same lines as Thralni, because there is another Sealand in that region of the world... EDIT: ttypo. Well, I'm glad to see I was remembered. I've been away for a week on a family vacation (which sucked by the way) so I havent had access to a computer. But I live in good ol' sunny Dunedin. Where abouts in Dunedin do you live white_dove? [ Friday, January 27, 2006 23:17: Message edited by: Kingy ] Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

Actually I'm still a highschool student but I do have quite a few friends that are studying at the Uni. The ones who I know what degree they're doing are doing communications and MusB degrees. It's good to see people from your own country into the same little companys as you. Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

To be honest, it was only one letter away from the plural (Dunedain). -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. I'm older than time, so technically I'm over 25. Mentally, I'm a five-year old. My profile strikes a nice balance by saying I'm 18. It isn't perfect, but what is? And oh my... I'm the same age as Aran! I never knew that! -------------------- And when you want to Live How do you start? Where do you go? Who do you need to know?
