Hey there,

I know there are a few kiwi fans out there but I'm curious to see how many.....So who else is from New Zealand? And since I live in Dunedin, I'm really curious to see if anyone else is from there specifically?

Okay, don't shoot me but is that in the North Island?? I don't even know where that place is.
But to be honest the only place in the North Island I really like is Wellington so I don't really take much interest in the rest.

Kingy is a Kiwi, but doesn't post a lot.

There are some others, though they escape my mind at the moment.

It's an Island off the coast of the Netherlands. The name harkens back to when Australia was first discovered and named New Holland.

Um, is this a joke, serious, or is it a cryptic sort of way referring to England?

I'm being entirely serious. A Dutch explorer named Tasman discovered both Australia and New Zealand. He named Australia New Holland after his homeland and New Zealand after Zealand because New Zealand is two smaller islands of the coast of Australia just like Zealand is a small island off the coast of the Netherlands. It was only later that the British renamed it Australia to depict its southern location (australis is Latin for south or southern wind.) Zealand truly is an island off the coast of the Netherlands.

Oh, I thought you wer talking about England. I didn't make the link between Zealand (its actualle "Sealand", not "zealand." Oh, well, what do I care). and "old" zealand.

Hehe.....All true and interesting stuff but I'm still keen to see if anyone else is from Dunedin. The world is a small place and stranger things have happened.

Thanks for the history lesson though. It took me back to when I was 8 and learned all about Abel Tasman.

Eh... I seem to have been absent from that particular lesson. It's intertesting to know, though. I actually thought along the same lines as Thralni, because there is another Sealand in that region of the world...

EDIT: ttypo.

Well, I'm glad to see I was remembered.
I've been away for a week on a family vacation (which sucked by the way) so I havent had access to a computer. But I live in good ol' sunny Dunedin. Where abouts in Dunedin do you live white_dove?

Litteraly it's Sealand, but as we call it Zeeland in the Netherlands, it has some logic when calling it Zealand. Oh well, i think it's kinda logic, but who am i to tell? :P

There are 400 words in the dictionary that begin with "self" and only 8 that begin with "fellow".

I live in Halfway Bush but I see you are studying at the University and I work there in the Dunedin School of Medicine / Otago School of Medical Sciences. :)

Actually I'm still a highschool student but I do have quite a few friends that are studying at the Uni. The ones who I know what degree they're doing are doing communications and MusB degrees. It's good to see people from your own country into the same little companys as you.

I'm not from Dunedin... But the place reminds me of some sort of LoTR thing... Aran, you know what I mean, right... Wasn't Aragorn a Dunedin or something?

Edit: Typos

The first one WAS a typo. The second, clutching at wild straws. And I did say I didn't know for sure...

To be honest, it was only one letter away from the plural (Dunedain).

It's just one of those weird coincidences, like the Uruk-hai having a speech that works out to be two haikus.

Okay, another question.

Is there anyone on here over the age of 25?
I'm not gonna say how much older than that I am but it seems that most people I have talked to seem very young..... :P

If you don't want people to know your age, you should probably take your date of birth out of your profile. :P

I'm older than time, so technically I'm over 25.

Mentally, I'm a five-year old.

My profile strikes a nice balance by saying I'm 18. It isn't perfect, but what is?

And oh my... I'm the same age as Aran! I never knew that!
