So who's seen it so far? I was going to see it last night, but tickets were sold at the theatre, so my family got tickets for Sunday (as today my parents are going to a football game together.)

What do you think of it?

Saw it the night it came out. Literally, at midnight the night it came out. Some wonderful group on my campus was offering free tickets to that first showing, and I couldn't help but go for it.

Having read the book lessens the quality of the movie to me, but it was generally good. I mean, SFX good as always, though some bits were clearly added just for the movie.

I loved it. There were a few things I thought they could've added, like Fleur fighting the dragon (how do we know she's more than a fairy princess?) but on the whole I thought it was very well done.

Haven't seen it yet, but I should fairly soon. My sisters are turning 16 in just over a week, and we will probably see it before that, because the tickets will be cheaper. :)

It's not out in Australia until December 1st. :(

I want to see it though, but I doubt I will be able to.

Why? Do you live too far out in the Bush? :D

On the whole the movie was ok, but some parts of it seemed as if they were taken from a sappy teen melodrama from the 80's.

Agreed... just a quick montage of the other champions fighting their dragons would've been awesome. It just felt like a letdown when they skipped straight to Harry. (at least they avoided that with the other challenges)

Sigh... What did you do now Spring? Been a naughty boy, eh?

As for me, I'm also stuck in two-weeks-behind-the-rest-of-the-world Australia, so indeed, it will have to wait til Dec 1. Dammit. Might check out the on-campus residences network this evening... for, um... porn! Oh, damn, I mean... promo! Yes, promo-material for this magazine I'm writing... Yeeeesss...

I'll go now.

Well, that would be good, but it wasn't like that in the book. And if they were going to have everything that was featured in the book, they would be there for a while. They left out Hermione's club, didn't they? S.P.E.W?

I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, but I hope it's good. The books are fantastic. I used to stand in front of my mirror every night trying to ruffle up my hair and imagine it was black to make it look like Harry's and fake a British accent so I could try out for the movies, if auditions came around again.

Did anyone notice that the entire first half of the third movie had only about two lines of dialogue?

Just saw it. I was mostly happy except that in parts it seemed quite rushed. The graveyard scene was by far the top part of the movie (albeit too short to do it justice) followed by fighting the dragon. I was disappointed several characters were shortchanged and a lot is left unexplained. All in all, a good movie, but I would have preferred the extra 15-20 minutes to get a little more character development.

Yay, finally got to see it! Excellent movie, though missing some parts from the book. The graveyard scene was amazing, as others said.

My newest obsession: Harry Potter. After years of knowing nothing about it, I decided to watch the first movie which led to the second and then the third. Well, last week I finally read the first book and I loved it. I know it sounds crazy since I saw the movie, but I just thought the writing was really good.
This weekend I'll finally see the movie, and I'm saving up to buy book #5 and 6.

Ok...here we go. You can just ignore this, you are not being forced to read it. I'm going to go roughly in chronological order. I know they needed to save time, but it would have been nice.

(Possible spoilers abound)

------------------

Barty Crouch Jr. in the room with Voldemort and Wormtail. Wtf?
No Dursleys.
No Weasleys Wizard Wheezes.
No Bill, Charlie, Percy or Mrs. Weasley.
No World Cup. Ok, there was a bit, but no actual gameplay.
Harry didn't get knocked out in the campsite, they went to the forest.
No Winky, or any house elves.
Dumbledore went off when Harry's name came out of the GoF. Another wtf.
No potions class at all. Actually, the only class that we saw was DaDa.
No Flitwick. (if that little guy was him, he doesn't have a beard!)
No Weighing of The Wands.
No footage of the other people in the first task. Davids right.
No s.p.e.w.
No Hogsmade.
1 thing of Sirius in the fire. That really pissed me off. Sirius was the best.
I'm sure the lake is deeper than that. And its not the Black Lake.
The mermaids were ugly. They were portrayed as pretty in the book.
No mer-men either.
Harry didn't nearly drown in the book. Well, he did, but he didn't get swarmed by Grindylows.
No Barty Crouch going mad, and no Harry and Krum talk. Crouch was just dead, and no mention of it.
No Ludo Bagman.
Only one pensieve scene.
Voldemort didn't have red eyes. That was another thing that pissed me off.
No 1000 galleons prize money for Harry.
Harry and Ron only kissed once by Fleur Delacour.

--------------

Maybe I'm just too fussy. :P

About the last one, if I remember correctly, I think Hermione kissed Harry on the head shortly after Fleur kissed him, and Ron was kissed again near the end of the movie (as well at the docks) by Fleur (again!), and some other girl (not Hermione.)

Still though, in the book Herm doesn't kiss Harry until the end, and it's on his cheek, not on his hair.

No, I just checked. Read:

"We will see each uzzer agian, I 'ope,' said Fleur, as she reached him, holding out her hand. 'I am 'oping to get a job 'ere, to improve my Eenglish.'
'It's very good already,' said Ron, in a strangled sort of voice. Fleur smiled at him; Hermione scowled."

(GoF, page 628, UK version)

And Hermione kissed Harry on the cheek at the station, but not Ron.

EDIT: Minor punctuation and spelling.

Oh, and another thing regarding Fleur: Because the World Cup did not feature any Veela, and we did not know that Fleur is part Veela, it kidnda ruins the whole Fleur being hot thing. She is, but it does not have such a huge effect.

Oh, alright. I was talking about the book when I said that Hermione does not kiss Ron.

And another thing: Hagrid did not say that he was part-giant.

Really, when you think about it, "Herm" is a pretty unfortunate abbreviation for "Hermione".

I'm just sayin'.
