Word. Hmm... I seem to remember saying I would never congratulate someone when they made a round figure. Usually kilo only means 1024 when one is talking about bytes and such. I believe it will suffice to mean 1000 in this case... -------------------- Lt. Sullust Cogito Ergo Sum Polaris Posts: 2462 | Registered: Wednesday, October 3 2001 07:00 |

Right. Since most memory comes in units equal to powers of 2, 1024 (2^10) was so close to 1000 that adopting it as a "kilobyte" would make many calculations a lot easier. But when away from the computer and by practical definition, the prefix kili refers to 1000. A kilometer is 1000 meters, a kilogram is 1000 grams, and so on. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

I'm 7/8 of the way to 2000, but 250 is still quite a few posts to make before I get there. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

My congratulations, AM! That said, I really need to get over to 2000; too many new arrivals to a territory that used to be rather sparse. Here's your congratulatory ferret, with your acheivement as well as your (far more signifant) upcoming life event in mind. :) -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. Please don't tell us that you could get that just by typing 'ferret wedding' into Google Image. -------------------- It is not enough to discover how things seem to seem. We must discover how things really seem. Posts: 3335 | Registered: Thursday, September 4 2003 07:00 |

That you painstakingly photoshopped it, of course, because not even among 6 billion humans was there a ready-made ferret wedding image. Please? EDIT: AAGGAHHH! *pours SoT another shot* The world is an astounding place, young Student, and as your mind remains to be opened to its wonders, a bit more booze will certainly do as a temporary solution. :P -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. I personally prefer Dolphin's cookies. Although booze might open your mind to new things. A bit more now can mean a nasty morning after. *This post is brought to you by herbal love.* -------------------- Wu wei... it's the only way Posts: 154 | Registered: Monday, June 20 2005 07:00 |
