Dolphin would do good. I vote for Dolphin.

EDIT: If Dolphin would refuse, I would put my vote on Marlenny.

For the record I was joking, not fishing, but if I thought I had a slight chance I would go for it.

Seeing as how the balloting will be top secret, and there will be no repercussions, I will throw my support behind dolphin.

Please, supporters of mine, join me in joining dolphin in her race to the finish in this nonexistant race to moder-hood.

Edit - "fishing?" hhrmph

Isn't it a little premature to be supporting Dolphin when the candidates haven't even announced themselves yet?

Yeah, we should remod MM. Keep Alo and Imban. Lose Saunders and Schro - no offense, but when was the last time one of those two did something toward their moderational duty. Heck, Schrodinger doesn't post but once a month if he's lucky. We need a couple new, more active mods.

Thuryl, MM, Alo, Imban. What about it?

Saunders is more active than you think. Schro is usually around, but never really posts. Then again, even Imban's posting has dropped off, recently. No offence to Thuryl, but I don't think he'd make a great mod. Dolphin, to an extent, has the same. You really need someone who can be quite impartial and not have favouritism cloud things. Specifically, you've got to have a mod that just hates everyone equally and wouldn't mind if we all died, overnight.

That's why I feel compelled to nominate UA, Mind, MM, Djur, tGM (In his... extended absence) and ADoS, to an extent.

I could become a good moderator. I have a sense of right and keeps the rules the best I can. But who would ever vote for me?

EDIT: I forgot... I am also active and I take action immediately.

I could be a good mod, I suppose, but I wouldn't monitor all the threads. I'm trying to cut down on my message board time. But I'm online a lot, and if anyone has a problem with a post they could IM, PM, or email me and I'd see what I could do. But really, I think Thuryl would make a much better moderator. I don't think MM would, though.

ADoS is only saying that out of his abnormal hatred for me. I, on the other hand, have equal hatred of you all, and would be the perfect moderating addition to this team.

Thuryl reads the boards a lot as evidenced by his post count and he also seems to have a good sense of what should be allowed and what should not.

I would be thinking that those most eager for any elected office are usually those least qualified to hold the office. Leadership is a burden, as decisions suddenly affect many rather than one.

Hardly so. Since when is willingness and enthusiasm to bear a responsibility mean you're unqualified? Would Bush have won by more if he had said that he didn't know for sure if he wanted to be president, because the job was too hard?

(Note: Please don't turn this topic into an argument about Bush's qualifications for president. Yes, I think America could have done better, but that's not my point.)

So, you read the fortune cookie expecting some wisdom??

All I said was that eagerness to assume the mantle of leadership (with all the inherent responsibilities) is suspect, at best. Typically the most eager are not really sure what the job entails. I'm not sure I would want to ban, can, lock, prune, edit, delete, or whatever else the job would entail. And that is the whole point. How can a person want a job without knowing what the job in fact is? I could post a job for "firearms tester," and only later reveal that I needed to test how quickly a person goes deaf when firing a weapon.

You must not know me :P . I was the first or second moderator ever on Spidweb. I used to mod General, Avernum 1, and Miscellaneous. Those were the days.

Others, on the other hand.. aren't as qualified.

Eh, mostly because I was pissed at TM. I called him a fag, everyone turned into a gay rights activist, and I was demodded. AIM convos of me bashing TM posted by another member also cut me down. Although I don't know why what I say on AIM should have any bearing on whether I should be a moderator or not.

Oh yes, I also used the word, "fok"

Well, I only mentioned it because you compared your competency to that of any other candidate, but you didn't seem to be an impartial mod.

TM was a mod then too. You weren't even around then, were you?

Why are we discussing this like it will happen? I'd be surprised. If it does, I don't even know if I would run. The majority of what I've been saying hasn't been said seriously. Being a moderator isn't all that glamourous, and the mod board lost it's luster when Mariann stopped letting us goof off in there.

So what I'm really saying is, I don't care who runs, or who wins it. What I would apreciate though, is if you would stop evaluating my moderating tendancies of long past, especially if you weren't even here yet.

MM WAS A HORRIBLE MOD

In other news, an anonymous source close to the Office of the Pink and Pretty Page reports that Kelandon "might be thinking about considering planning to size up the possibility of an announcement of candidacy." More on this as it develops.

Ok, I'm sorry if I upset you. True, I was not here at the time, but that doesn't mean what I said is untrue. I don't see why it's unfair to ask you why you feel yourself to be most qualified, but I won't ask anything if it bothers you.

The most qualified thing was a joke. I don't know who's qualified or not.

KELANDON SUCKS... AT LIFE.

Edit: But by Smoked Sausage's standards, I'd be one of the more qualified. :P

I thought of it first! Soon it will be the summer grilling season and the healthy yet tasty alternative will be salmon sausage! Yes, it's not just for smoking anymore.

But, see, that's where the difference between "ability to get oneself elected" and "qualification to do the job" comes in. I don't deny that in such an utterly anxious and closed-minded society as ours, anyone doubting themselves publically is immediately denounced. "Heavens, he is questioning himself! Oh, what do we do, we might be questioning ourselves next! Can't have that - get rid of him."

Edit: That said, the small and cramped space that would be the Encyclopedia's office if it had one has decided to release a rumor more or less similar to Kelandon's...
