That a Simpsons fan with too much time on his hands has somehow crossbred a tomato and a tobacco plant...
Thus spawning tomacco.

There is a new species on Earth.

It might be in the news.

I was thinking there would be more replies in a topic that's about a new species of plant.

I'd just like to see what everyone thinks of this......bit of suprising info.

There is really nothing objectionable in this topic, but I'm tempted to lock it anyway.

[Edit: Some things are best left unsaid. Fortunately, on forums like these one can retroactively unsay them.]

"It tastes like feet!"

"Why are you eating it?"

"Because, it's refreshingly addictive."

Umm... That was a cartoon. I don't believe it's actually possible to make a tomacco. It is possible to put some genetic sequence from a tomato into a tobacco plant (or vice versa) but it would hardly result in a tomacco.

You probably wouldn't get exactly the right mix you want, it would take a long period of trial and error.

Interesting, I should like to know what happens to Snow White if she were offered a tomacco instead of an apple.

It's not a new species at all; it's a tomato plant grafted onto tobacco roots. This works because tomatoes and tobacco (as well as potatos and eggplants) are nightshades.

If this plant was to reproduce, it would breed completely normal tomato plants. The DNA is still tomato.

Or it wouldn't breed at all... that's also an effect of crossbreeding, sterilization.

It's not a crossbreed, it's a graft. There's no mixing of genetics.

BTW, Merc? Try to avoid saying the same thing twice

Thank you Mindspark! That's the kind of thing that I find fun! I could almost hear you saying that, with wideopen eyes and looking dunbfounded and surprised! Nothing's funnier than innocent amazement. Thank you for feeding my strange humour!

Oh and BTW, I have seen these two goofies (<-forbidden word?) put up at least three topics over this same subject: the suckiness of SW and all its members. A kind suggestion: couldn't you keep it all in the same place?

Reminds me of that Dilbert cartoon where they tried to combine, Tomatoes, (I think), and beef. Ending up with a square piece of inedible food that had spots like a cow. It was funny, because they took it to a starving nation and they ended up using it as a weapon and to build homes, as it was too inedible. The whole plan to use it to feed a nation backfired so Dilbert brought in his mom. I think she showed them how putting ketchup on it would take the bad flavor away and...Poof! Suddenly it became edible. I loved that episode. Great comparison to this story.

Is Dilbert still on TV yet, by the way?

The boards are so bitter... these members complaining are making SW sucky. SW has never sucked. Then they came and started complaining... Who gets them? Not us.

BTW, tomacco sounds unreal to me... Or at least the name sucks. Tomacco sounds like a cheap toys brand.

Last I spotted it was Sunday evenings on Comedy Central. Some episodes are good, but most struck me as being mediocre.
