Sorry for the delay, but i had some pc trouble ... again ... Anyway - THANKS!! I sorta hoped it was not it, coz i usually increase it (if at all) last, but at least it's the cheapest. Cheers for the raise when the level goes up. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Posts: 185 | Registered: Sunday, June 4 2006 07:00 |

quote:Well maybe it's the other way around, maybe the "older" players are too addicted with avernum (maybe too much skribbane :) ) to not notice the excitement of geneforge. As i think, both games are cute it just depends on what you want of the game and how you feel like. I believe avernum to be quite attached to the old style of rpg games, where you were a hero and all and geneforge is more realistic and morally questionable. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! I believe that could be due to the fact that avernum/exile were the first (at least widely popular - at least to my knowledge) spiderweb games. I think that the emptiness is mostly due to the holiday time. EDIT: Or some might have been reabsorbed to essence by the shapers [ Tuesday, July 18, 2006 04:02: Message edited by: Anarhiztok ] -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Another thing. In the geneforge series and a4 there is yet another GREAT thing. A lot of scripts come along with a game - these scripts you can edit. For example if you replay a game, you can customise items, abilities, spell/item cost etc. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Ok, thanks, i just wanted to be sure, coz some sites aren't friendly to opera (like panda online scan). And yes, i agree with you very much, the cosmic rays seemed very strange the other day. I'd almost bet they're consipring against us. [ Monday, July 17, 2006 14:02: Message edited by: Anarhiztok ] -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! quote:Well, i wasn't saying that classical music is crap or anything ... I even like a lot of classical music - ok, i confess, i like it even better in a punk or (hard)rock version, but i most enjoy the "classical" versions as well. By my post i was merely making a joke, for from today's view, as far as i know, all of then's music, EVEN THOUGH, AS I AGREE WITH YOU, UNJUSTLY, is cathegorised as classical music. Please enlighten me if i am wrong about this, cause music and history are two fields that i enjoy learning about a lot!!! -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! I seem to be having some troubles navigating this forum lately - is it just my computer, or could this forum be opera-not-so-friendly. Coz i have a cable connection and i have to wait ages for a topic to open and sometimes i get a message saying something about an internal error i didn't get before today.       EDIT right now i had to try about three to four times just to post this. Drow, you're right, but at exile/avernum you weren't supposed to wipe out a city of peaceful folks, as fare as i remember, but at geneforge the cities of different sects can frequently turn hostile towards you when you allign. But still, maybe a lack of human children would be due to maybe a catastrophe or something that made a lot of people of terestria (i hope i spelled it right) sterile and now the shapers shape humans (it also says somewhere in the introduction to one of the games that you might reshape the world, well, if one'd look further, one could see, that the only living beings are shaper experiments (even rats as mentioned in the intro to the second game)) - that'd even justify the fear and respect everyone has of shapers. Gee, looking at what i wrote, i hope i didn't make too much philosophy. I'd better get some rest ... :) :) -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Wow, i see there's a lot of interresting history here, in just a few years. About the topic on music everyone listens to - hya, i believe that would be one of the longest topics everywhere, at least after the 19th century, where if you didn't listen to classic you could listen to classic, classic or even classic - although i even heard there were some crazy dudes who listen to classic, could you believe that ... :) Andraste: hehe, i believe your topic would meet the conditions to hold a referendum about seperating and becoming an independant forum, don't you think so? ;) -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Yeah, that is kinda funny, especially considering how pople are afraid of shapers and you, but they still become hostile and attack you. They are either very brave and make a stand for them selves or they are depressed and have suicidal tendencies ... -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Well, an idea just struck my mind. I was looking a little how many post are in a certain topic, saw that some have a rather large amount and so, and i wondered - is there any record of how many posts per topic was the maximum number and so on. Nothing special, just being curious and, i guess, having too much time, there being holidays and all ... :D -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Well, speaking of previous/latter games ... Avernums and Genforges are first of all like series - while not actually needed it can be fun to play from the beginning and see how the world and certain characters evolve through. At avernum, i would say that the first one is probably the best, maybe to to the originality, for at later games, not that they repeat, not at all, but still, there is something - maybe it's just that avernum is a nation and in the first one the world was very open and unsettled (by civilisation) and the nation wasn't so far established yet. But still A2 was terrific, to say the least, but A3, well, its concept for me was very good, but it got boring all too quickly ... A4 is a game many found the worst of the series and spiderweb ones as well, but i found it somewhat cool - at least better that the third one, although it is quite a short game. Now geneforge, the first one was cute - for me at least (i played little games before spiderweb ones (actually just albion from rpgs)), a refreshing game, with creations and morality and all. But here, the second game for me was THE game of spiderweb ones. In my oppinion that was to show how a second part of a nice game should look like - new creations, spells (and A LOT of them), etc. While the number three introduced traders with unlimited money and infinite "space", thus eliminating a problem with having to search a certain shopkeeper, but still removing the realism, it in my oppinion didn't bring an improvement - G4 is said to do so and I'M LOOKING FORWARD VERY MUCH TO IT!!!! So in my oppinion, the previous games in the series were better, although that's just me - i'd suggest you play the demos to all and see! And don't forget to look at the very close to unlimited fun, the blades versions bring!!!!!! EDIT: Maybe the fact that A3 got too boring for me and all issues concerning Avernum games in general, was that it is actually a remake Exile triology, which in my oppinion was even better - but that's just maybe because it was the first two games (E2 and E1) that i played. HI! From your post it deducted you havent't played any pevious A or G games, have you? If that's so, it would perhaps be better to start from the beginning ... In Geneforge you can indeed get one or more permanent companions - from the very beginning on. But also the creations you create stay with you for as long as you like - or for as long as your enemies let you that is. :) In A4 as far as i know you can't get anyone to join you, as you could in the previous games, but you can play with any number of characters from 1 to 4. I usually play with four, but a lot seem to play with only one - although i haven't heard anyone say they tried with 2 or 3 ... so you can maybe be the first. In my opinion i liked G3 a little better, for the creations and more spells, but that's just me. Hope to help you a bit. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Posts: 185 | Registered: Sunday, June 4 2006 07:00 |

Hey, has anyone noticed a lack of (human) children in the geneforge world? In avernum there are a lot of children, but i can't remember a single one from geneforge. OK, i realise it's not such a big deal, but i just noticed. :D -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Posts: 185 | Registered: Sunday, June 4 2006 07:00 |

Well, sorry, this topic just is ancient, i see, but i must've overlooked it. I always favoured the awakened - could never truly feel for the other sects - maybe takers if they weren't so bloody violent towards the awakened. It was at first difficult in gf3 where the rebels get quite cruel, but still, the summary of the "official" previous endings where shapers mercilessly destroy all and everithing with their own mind made me choose the rebels nonetheless - they still cared for at least those serviles and normal humans that didn't oppose them. I hope (as it was said that there will be three different endings for gf4) and believe that there will be a (for me) suitable ending in this game. -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way! Well, Zeviz, it may all be a joke to you, but there are proofs of those slaughters ... Maybe in usa you don't get a chance to hear such things, the jewish loby being so strong and all ... I wonder how you'd react if you were a palestinian child playing hide and seek with tanks and armed soldiers, having exactly no future ahead of you, because something that is your birthright to have is constantly being pulled away from you. How'd you feel if you got arrested just coz you'd look like a man who your mother (if you'd have one that is) spoke with yesterday at the store who is a friend of a person who is a niece of a man who is distantly related to a man who was seen at the square at which the bomber blow him/her self up. So how'd it be if you lived next door to an uncle of an alledged Hamas member and the buldozer'd "accidently" run your house to the ground while destroying his house. ... I'm not saying that terrorists're good or anything, just that the Israelis are doing exactly what's been done to them half a century ago - they maybe haven't actually killed as many people, but dehumanization is in my opinion just as bad. Can humanity really not learn anything from history - or are they just in the fase of coppying the pattern they see???? -------------------- I don't care what you say, I'm punk and Hardcore all the way!
