The crystal of power is used in the waste controls. The glowing portculli: you should have an item in your inventory that reflects this. Use it. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

quote:That's not a bug. There have to be some internal variables to make the program work. The program will not let you, as the user, change a variable essential to the code. This is actually good programming. I think we could rephrase this as follows: Internal varables such as "shop" or "pay" should be listed in either the Documentation or Appendicies. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! I have a couple ideas to try: 1) Try removing one of the special abilities and see if the cursing works. 2) Try taking off the magic attribute. If neither one of these work, definitely e-mail Jeff Vogel. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

So now you've become the spokesperson for everyone. I'm not sure what doubling the number of spells would do other than making the menu more complicated which is bad from an interface standpoint. It's easy to say that you want the spells doubled, but providing effective, balanced, non-repetative, and meaningful spells is another story. For simplicity, I would prefer to have useful spells over wading through tons of non useful ones. More useful spells would be nice. I don't know what your beef is with the unlock doors. In BoA, you can just go in and change the scripts if you want. Avernum 4 will be a new engine, so we will have to wait and see what will come out of it. Personally, here are my wises: * An immersive plot that is more than get some guy to tell you to (insert quest here) saving many lives and you receive (insert reward here), followed by another (insert more difficult quest here) with increasing importance for (insert better reward here), and so on. * Characters that are actually more than 2D personality cut-outs. * Non repetative and challenging combat. Less battle of attrition and more tactical cleverness. * Less "oh no! monsters are everywhere!" or "oh my! this passage is heavly trapped!" dungeons. * Something new and creative. No new monster plagues. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power!! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Valley of the Dying Things- 4.0 A Small Rebellion- 4.5 Za-Khazi Run- 3.5 Diplomacy with the Dead- 3.5 Anyone who gives any of these less than a 3.0 should seriously consider the scaling of the Spiderweb scale relative to the CSR. A 3.0 on the Spiderweb is the minimally accepted scenario to stay on the tables. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! How about no damage cap period? Dream On by Aerosmith -- this topic's theme song. Jeff does what he wants and feels and that's about it. Even his betatesters have a hard time extracting change from him. BoA was the notable exception, but that depends on a strong and dedicated user base. Believe me, we've seen about 28 topics just like this before for every new game. They never work. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power!! Arguably Spy's Quest was a pioneer in this sort of stuff. It was weak on the plot, but did a lot of experimentation along the lines of tough combat. I suspect Doom Moon II borrowed a lot of this. Oh yeah, I still don't recommend playing Spy's Quest. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Since this scenario is officially out, please make questions in a separate topic so they are easier to locate. This topic has outlived its use, so it shall be locked. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

You don't, as TM said, just go in and make bookshelves impossible to walk through from the west and north via your scendata script. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

Well, what you can do is make a loop from i = 6 to the highest number character in the town and set each one to a friendly attitude. Not compact, but simple enough. -------------------- Your flower power is no match for my glower power! Posts: 3726 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

You could have different NPC's join you depending on which side you take. This could include monsters. A young dragon could join you, an imperial dervish, a vahnati, or if you are evil a raksashi that would pretend it was a nephilim when it entered towns. This would add a little spice to the game. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Star Bright, Star Light, Oh I Wish I May, I Wish Might, Wish For One Star Tonight.
