The ring is found in a dialog box when you wander close to a pale skeleton on the ground near the Jagged Aerie. If you weren't paying attention, you might not have noticed that you picked it up off the body automatically.

I think sugar caning is still performed in Hawaii. It hurts, but it makes your blood taste sweet.

Very Self-ish indeed. Anything I invoke for my Self, I also invoke for all of our Selves..and vice-versa. All the masters of history have conveyed the same message, that we are all one. This isn't meant to be a cute metaphor. It's a literal truth on an energetic/Soul level. I want the best for my/our Self. I wish us to get where we really want to go. I can't go there by my Self. So, oddly enough, being Self-ish, in a sense, is being truly loving. When we love our Self, we are able to love the whole of our Self, which is at about 6.6 individual representations on this planet at present.

That would be evading the problems, not solving them. Then we'd have to spend another few millennia getting back to where we are now and see if we could work it out better the next time. I'd rather we aced it this time. And it's not necessarily the first time we've been at this crossroads as a species in the distant past, for that matter.

If you can never die in the absolute sense, death is nothing to fear.

I'm not so good with pain though. I'm more afraid of suffering than death. I'd invite the Cougar to make it quick.

I'm in agreement with Aran, essentially. Nationalism is a damaging symptom of an illusion we live under...that we are all separate beings threatened with insufficient life (we "die") and a perception of lack in ourselves and in nature. We justify killing and discrimintion based ultimately on the world's various conceptions of a God that kills and judges and lacks and fails. We have long come to reflect the gods we have believed in. It does't even matter how many people do not believe in a God now. The beliefs and attitudes and morality have saturated all cultures for millennia. Huge portions of the world are still fighting and willing to die in the name of their god.

We operate out of fear and self-preservation, doing damage to ourselves when we do damage to others. Nationalism needs to dissolve. We need to see that what we do to others we truly do to ourselves, that all boundaries are contrivances, based on trying to hold on to what we think is "ours." We need to see that there is nothing to fear but fear itself.

Welcome to one of the four grand Existential Paradoxes of life: Isolation and Connection. No matter what you do, no one is ever going to really know what it is to be you. You come into this world alone, and you leave it alone. And that is okay. It is something we have to come to terms with. Even in connection, we experience our separateness. This is also all an illusion. In reality we are all one being, and there is no separation at all, but the Existentialists describe the paradoxes of the illusion well.

Have a nice life. You must be at least this tall to ride this ride.

Lest I be misunderstood, I don't think technology is inherently either good or evil. I agree it is what we do with it that is all important. I also think that technology has very little to do with what really makes life worth living as a human being, though I can readily see how debatable that point would be to many. I would also argue that the human being truly began losing its soul 1000 years ago with the invention of the clock.

As I stated earlier, the concern now is that our technological evolution is far outpacing our own social and spiritual evolution as humans, and that is a recipe for disaster without a significant shift in our thinking in this century.

The slith is improved! The nephil continues to dominate. The poor human continues to languish, except it is even more accentuated now with no inherent bonuses and the need to work harder for Battle Disciplines. I keep complaining to Jeff that humans are so boringly and unattractively unuseful as PCs, and that I would love a reason to choose one. So far, the only practical reason is so you don't have to look at four fuzzy or reptilian faces on your screen.

If you're going extreme, go all the way and just eliminate money. We could just trade or do stuff for others out of love. That's what I'd like to see.
Hmm, I see I didn't quite write that correctly, so I will fix it. I think the idea I mentioned was radical enough that it would take a serious paradigm shift to consider. Ultimately, you are right of course with the suggestion to eliminate money, and I'd invoke the same wish. That's further down the pike. But let's not ruin the surprise just yet.

Secrecy is the policy which enables business to proceed as usual, and the rape of the masses for the riches of the few to persist. You wanna start a revolution, baby? Cast off the veil that mercenaries, power fiends, CEOs, and corporations hide beneath. Watch the outrage of how women are systematically underpriced for the same roles in the marketplace. Pricing and salaries would massively readjust within days to weeks.

It's worse. It's better. The real threat is that we are still operating on belief systems we have been employing for millennia. Our laws and morality are shaped by religious beliefs that linger long after the religion itself may be in vogue. Our justification of killing one another to take or to keep what is "ours" does not work. Nationalism promotes separatism, along with nearly every other belief, law, and practice we have. Until we come to the conclusion that we are one body and one people in the world, we will justify the harming of other parts of humanity that "aren't us."

The crisis of the present century involves dangerous and incorrect beliefs held by humanity at a time when we have technological means that have outstripped our maturity in our dealings with one another. We have the means to put an end to life as we know it on planet earth. We will almost surely do so unless we take a quantum step upward in what is essentially our spiritual understanding and vision, and begin to change laws and policies that reflect that we are all one people, and to hurt or deprive another is to hurt and deprive oneself.

I am confident we will be taking an upward step, just in the nick of time, but this century may prove to be mighty messy. In many ways, I see it will be the end of the world as we know it.

Thank God.

We are truly insane on planet earth for holding to the same essential belief system for millennia, when clearly, our beliefs are not serving us. What we are doing based upon them does not work. Insane people keep trying the same thing and expect different results. I have hopes for this present time. It's an exciting time to be alive, pregnant with possibility, or our complete collaspe.

Enjoy the ride. You must be at least this tall to ride this ride.
