rant*/ I drive a BMW. Pretty fast, too. There's a joke: "You get your cruising license from the DMV. John's the one who you talk to about driver's licenses." Anyway, I get irritated when I'm stuck behind a slow person. But I understand that on a narrow street there's nothing that can be done, and the person in front of me is in no way obligated to go out of their way for me. However, today someone cut me off on the road. Worse, the road was two lanes wide in both directions. They were at the head of their lane, but they changed lanes to absolutely no benefit of their own. I spent a mile stuck behind that idiot. Finally, I was walled in on all sides because everyone else was driving slowly. /*rant -------------------- "What can you do with an anthropology degree other than study people?" "...Hunt people?" I know that the "?" button brings up my statistics sheet. But what button or key can I use to see my skills? For example, if I want to know how many levels of Create Fyora I have, what do I do? -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

The HBO show "The Wire". Hence the title. No, I never noticed that. That's a new find, as far as I know. There are also "Arrested Development" characters in G3, I believe. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

Invest in wands; they use three AP, meaning you can attack twice without worrying about hasting. You probably know this by now, but the concentration of fire on one target at a time is essential. If you want to get really technical, mark the ones which are hasted by the other Aranea and go after them first. Also, try summoning a decoy shade. Their immunity to ice might prove useful against Aranean Ice Lances. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

I enjoyed Pirates 3, but mostly because I had been anticipating its release for so long. Harry Potter 5 suffers from a disease called bad acting, caused by acute exposure to England. 300 looked cool and managed to not offend me very much. Finally, I haven't seen anyone mention Shooter...? I thought it was good. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

This is a partial list. Wine (no idea what type): Fort Remote Ore Sacks: Dharmon Sack o' Meal: Harston Empire Records: Castle Cheap Wine: Fort Dranlon Sugar: Silvar (I only ever found one bag of sugar, but I hear there are about three) Healing Herbs: Formello Iron Bars: Fort Draco Also, I think there are three quests (Castle, Egli, and one other place, I think) which ask for Drake teeth and only two instances of the item, so choose wisely. I also remember a mage who wanted a Red Lizard Egg, but only one. I never found a use for Drake Eggs or Aranea Fangs. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! I remember that in A2 there's several uranium bars out in the chasms (the north east part of the Vahnatai lands). If you get a message saying "You see a sort of dull, glowing metal. Pick it up?" or something along those lines, don't pick up the item. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

If a cursor is missing, my guess is that the code names a cursor to be used by the game, but isn't in the folder when it needs to be compiled. You should have cursors named "BOOT" "C" "D" "DL" "DR" "KEY" "L" "R" "SWORD" "TALK" "TARGET" "U" "UL" and "UR" already, I think. Which one does the compiler name as missing or needed? Also, approximately how many errors are you getting when you try to compile the program? And where did you get your source code? -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Actually, I changed my mind. If someone could help me more, I'd appreciate it. For Avernumscript, there's a list of all calls, divided into different sections depending on the nature of the call used, known as the Docs. Is there a compilation of calls for C++ as well? Where can it be found? -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

In order to create BoE from the source code, you need to compile the game. To compile the game, you need a project with the source files inside it and also a compiler. I'm not sure how to move the files into your project using MC C++, though. But once the files are in your project, your compiler (MC C++) should give you an option somewhere to compile the program. Then, most likely, you'll get a bunch of error messages. Solve them if you can; when you're done, the game should finally compile. However, if you just want to read the code, what you already have is what you get. There's nothing simpler, as far as I know. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! I think I have a working version of the BoE source code. Now, how can I turn that source code into a BoE application? What program do I use? Sorry if this looks like a foolish question. I'm very unfamiliar with coding utilities in general; my furthest experience is with Avernumscript, in Wordpad. So if the program's name has appeared previously in the discussion on these forums, I probably didn't recognize it for what it was. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! So will this essentially be another Encyclopedia Ermarian, except for Geneforge? Or will it be something new? If you folks want to break the mold, I think it would be a good idea to include information on character builds, even though they aren't directly mentioned in the games. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi! If I understand correctly, you have registered the game? Assuming so, and assuming that the problem for sure is with the scripts, I believe I know an easy solution. Copy your preferences file to a safe place, then delete and reinstall the game. Replace the game's newly written preferences file with the original one that you copied and saved. -------------------- It's just trying to say hi!
