He wouldn't put so much at risk unless he really believed in what he was doing. The Drayk wouldn't be able to shape, and therefore wouldn't be part of the conspiracy. Khryk could have easily joined the Rebels and become very powerful. He chose not to, although they would love to have him because of his power. Doesn't look like much of a backstabbing group does it.
