dude...i moved the mirror from the first room in the wrong spot, and it destroyed the thing that opened the door. but the door didnt close, so i walked through it thinking that there wouldnt be a problem, and the darn thing closed and wouldnt open. i tried to go into the editor to just get rid of the dang door, but for some reason even when i saved it, there was no effect. yeah, that whole height thing is another sad loss. we have these new graphics, but no height? no hidden walls, no darkness... its just so geneforge...which i like, but...i liked avernum too. Posts: 15 | Registered: Thursday, March 24 2005 08:00 |

alright...so, im one of those people who likes the games to be separate. i like geneforge, and i like avernum...but i dont want one unified type of gameplay. whats with the geneforge graphics in the game though? the avernum characters were already cool. and whats up with only having two options for nephilim and the slith? racism...hahaha. j/k. *what is with barely being able to move during fight mode? it was much better when you at least had some mobility. its worse than geneforge and avernum. *what is with not having a character editor? yes, its cheating, but it speeds things up, and it was an option that was enjoyed in avernum. everyone knows its kinda cool to have a "god" party. *i actually liked the separation of towns and the world map, things might not have flowed as well, but the space wasnt so full. *the availabilty of good armor, weapons, spells...etc, at least in the beginning, is virtually nonexistent. *it takes forever to replenish health/spell energy (or it doesnt happen at all, i was too involved to check it out for sure) in avernum and even geneforge (cant remember for sure) if you walked around you gradually recharged. *like everyone has said, the story is a little weak. (ive only played through the demo, but im pretty sure i dont really need to play further) ok...so there was the bad...here is the really cool and good *not having to replenish arrows is awesome, and the automatic healing/spell energy walking into the town is cool. *the flowing map IS cool...even if its kind of a pain at times. the graphics are cool. *its harder, which is a good thing. basically...i dont see a need to buy this one. umm...in that room with all the lasers and stuff...how do you get through there?!?! ive worked on that for hours, and i cant seem to find the way through. and then, i decided that i would just cheat and tried to edit the level but it wouldnt let me! cold...lol. anyway, i agree completely with everyone else, this scenario is incredible. and i guess it has parts that are incredibly hard too. alright...so i also have no clue what to do. my party is of an extremely high level (probably like everyone else due to how many scenarios we have gone through) and once i get to that darn altar after the drake lord im stuck. what do i do? im asking for spoilers here, ive searched for too long, i cant even get out of that area without being zapped to death, and my characters have 1500-2000 HP. how in the world do i get rid of that darn altar?! ug. this isnt a poll, this is completely open ended...but, be remotely serious. like, how do you want the game to start, new creations, new spells, new power, new factions, storylines...etc. and i want to say before i start this...i completely respect the spiderweb software people and the wonderful games they create, im not trying to be insulting in anyway, i was just saying that i had thought of some things and maybe other people had too. personally, i think it would be pretty sweet to continue with this line of different types of shapers. For example, in the first game, you were a shipwrecked apprentice. next game...you were an apprentice with your teacher...next game...oh, still an apprentice, but at a school. i suppose that makes sense so you have a point to start from...but... what about a human who has always from an early age had this strange, natural ability to shape and to use magic. like an outsider from G2. or a young, newly created drakon from the rebels... or maybe a weapons crafter? or a human who starts the story with his village being razed by rebels and runs off, finds a cave with a few canisters in it and... holy cow batman! i can shape! i mean...none of these are too far-fetched and all of them are a departure from the apprentice storybase. ok...first, the part i didnt like. the whole game implied that we would get to use the geneforge or something. especially near the end when litalia was talking about how someday, you can be shaped by Akahri Blade, or however you spell it...just like litalia has been shaped by him. and then when you are in the geneforge area, she says that she has been shaped, and that you will get to use it too once you know what you want to be...and i was like...oh cool! but....no. and then...Ghaldring. a potentially interesting character...but that was the huge surprise that was lurking in gazak-uss...come on! a slightly insane but albeit brilliant war general, hell bent on shaper destruction? thats it? and...i guess i can buy that...but, throughout the game, it was implied that we would meet ghaldring. but, no. and i felt like there were a lot of problems that were spoken of but couldnt be solved, i.e: fixing the problem of how unnaturally cold it was on the isle of spears. and...then there was that drayk that was protecting the newborns...he said that it was possible to control the insanity caused by the canisters, but that he wasnt going to bother teaching you how. why not?! i dont want to go crazy just because i have the power! and the whole trade off thing/absolute power corrupts thing totally fits right here. now...what i did like...it was pretty cool having allies like greta and whats his name. and...you did get pretty powerful. and i loved the crafting...but...i think that should have been a larger part. there werent that many items...i think that you should have had more control in that...but...thinking about it, i could only imagine the amount of time it would take to make a game with that much freedom of gameplay. the story was pretty awesome...but, i felt like it was missing something. and i think that happened because this game is more like a lead-in to G4, instead of a game that could stand on its own and be done with it at the end. this one is entirely composed of a story that is leading to something. and that is mostly good...because i definitely cant wait for the rest of the games now. ok...so maybe you just missed it...but in geneforge games you need to talk to everyone thouroughly. killing before exhausting all possible conversation options is always a bad thing. if you remember, or maybe you dont, if you asked "wait, there is a key somewhere?" or something to that effect, i dont exactly remember, the warden will say something like, you wont need it. and then it says that you notice that his eyes look to the northwest i think. anyway, the key is somewhere in the wardens room. then you just have to clear the central path through the prison to the exit, go talk to the servile, and then leave. talk to the servile first though, he will tell you something you need to know. first>>>excuse all of the freakin arrows> im using a windows computer right now and it wont let me use numbers or punctuation marks> so all arrows like this ">" are periods> the others are commas< you get it> anyway< like many of you< i am openly addicted to the geneforge series< they are just so darn entertaining> i think its because there is a philosophical approach in these games that the others dont seem to possess> what my point is>>>i would almost prefer it if the planned date was in april and it actually came out in early_ish april> instead of hearing about it since the beginning of march and pining away on the lost hope of seeing the next game and realizing at the end of the month that all of my lost hours checking on its progress were for nothing> i think that all i wanted was a date that was kept to>>>whether that wait was in march or even in may< i felt like the chickens were being counted on this one before it was hatched> and its ok if the game just wasn"t ready for release< the games that come from here are always worth the wait< all that im saying is that i felt all excited and>>>wait< nope its not out yet> Posts: 15 | Registered: Thursday, March 24 2005 08:00 |
