You cannot use exitzone to enter the caves because it is a dungeon, meaning it can only be accessed through the monastary level. It does NOT appear on the map.

Maybe it was a one-time glitch. They do occur. Eg. I attacked Master Hoge at the Roamer Swamp in Harmony Isle and though I didn't kill him, he didn't appear at the Bulwark Inn.

Although you can sometimes kill him before he uses the magic.
I thought I had played the game fully as a loyalist... I even explored every map fully and never heard of this summoning orb. Where do you get it?

editor scripts*don't* work in Geneforge Series

On my Geneforge game, I modified the state for the first option ("Leave It") to 110. After that editor works for me. If I want to leave the editor, I enter the editor then choose the exit option.

Look:

begintalknode 7;
state = 110; //modified by universe_jdj
personality = 0;
nextstate = -1;
condition = 1;
question = "Leave it.";
text1 = "You regretfully walk away, knowing how much power it could give you.";
action = END_TALK;

begintalknode 8;
state = 5;
personality = 0;
nextstate = 6;
condition = 1;
question = "Use the editor.";
text1 = "A panel folds down on the obelisk and list of options glows behind it.";
text2 = "You can change your skills, spells, creations known, and money here, and also add experience.";
After that it worked. Before that I got a dialogue script error message.

The main reason that the south end editor does not work is that there are two nodes that have State=5. The game creates the error because it doesnt know which talk node to use. Both nodes with state=5 are right next to each other. Simply change one to another(high) number and the editor should work. I *think* this problem is in the first script concerning the editor, the one that says "Use the editor", though this may be wrong.

Rentar will teleport you over or around 10 times. It will say "Rentar is drained by constantly teleporting you" or somewhat then once you get to the panel and get teleported out over or around 10 times then Erika will appear. If you dont wont to trust a n00b go ahead.

Continuing after Beating the Game!!! in The Avernum Trilogy

After you beat Rentar the game, it says you can continue to get artifacts and so on. But the buttons on the dialog only say Restore (meaning load), restart (go to main menu) and Quit (exit game). Can;t you continue like in Avernum II.

Greetings from Spiderweb Software! We just looked up from frantically
working on our newest game, and we realized that we have a birthday to
celebrate. We couldn't wait to let you know about it, since it gives us
a great excuse to sell games on the cheap for a month!

Plus, we have the first information about Geneforge 3, and great news
about Blades of Avernum.

* Spiderweb Software Tenth Anniversary Sale

Ten years ago, we at Spiderweb Software began our great work. We had
nothing but a new computer, a cockroach-infested apartment, lots of
coffee, and a dream: to bring the great fantasy rpgs of the eighties
back to life. With pretty much the same quality graphics.

Eleven games and tens of thousands of satisfied customers later, we're
still in business. The coffee is better, there are no more cockroaches,
and we're still putting out fun, cheap games for fantasy gamers.

So come join us in our celebration! For the month of November, all of
our products are ten percent off! Explore the alien, completely
open-ended epic story of Geneforge, or sample the many free adventures
made by the Blades of Avernum community. On the cheap!

And countless thanks to all of the people who have supported us over
the years, with your kind words and your hard-earned money. Thanks to
you, we hope to keep going strong for ten more years. Or until we
totally burn out.

Nice, big demos for all of our games can be found at

http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com

* First Geneforge 3 Screenshots

Our next game will be Geneforge 3. It's the sequel to the hit fantasy
adventures with a sci-fi twist, Geneforge and Geneforge 2. Soon, we
will be announcing the new title to the new world, but subscribers of
this newsletter get the very first look at the new screenshots.

To see how it looks, go to:

http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/geneforge3/shots.html

Geneforge 3 will be bigger and more exciting than the previous games.
And, as always, it will let you decide what side to fight on, and
follow your goals with your own army of deadly, custom-made monsters.
Watch our web site for more information. It should be ready in the
first half of 2005.

* Blades of Avernum Updated

Blades of Avernum, our new fantasy role-playing game for Windows and
Macintosh, is doing great. There is already a community of bright and
hard-working folks making new adventures for it, and many gamers
struggling to overcome those new challenges.

We have released new versions of Windows Blades of Avernum (v1.0.2) and
Macintosh Blades of Avernum (v1.1.1). These updates fix a number of
small but annoying bugs. The new demo can be found at

http://www.avernum.com/blades/index.html

To get the patch, click the "Upgrades & Support" button.

* New Blades of Avernum Adventures

We now have five quality adventures for Blades of Avernum. Finished the
quests that come with the game? Come by our web site for some more free
fun. The available adventures, A Perfect Forest, Emerald Mountain, The
Cave of No Return, Babysitting, and Roses of Reckoning, can be found at

http://www.avernum.com/blades/scen_list.html

By the way, there are still quite a few months in the Blades of Avernum
scenario contest, in which the best user-made adventures can win cash
prizes!

That is all for now. You'll hear from us again when Geneforge 3 is
ready. And, hopefully, we'll have some good news about Avernum 4 for
you soon. Have happy holidays, and be sure to stay indoors playing
computer games!
