I'd like to say that I think that the middle 6 were pretty evenly matched, in my opinion, and where they placed really depended on the judge's tastes. Once again, congrats TM. Five years you've waited....and you finally won an annual contest. (Not to mention TM also won the rankings contest this year) Also congrats to Ephesos, EoR was very nice. Really, congrats to everyone for designing. And thanks to Stareye for having the contest. :) 7th place...that's not too bad. Just encouragement to make the next one even better. :) Interestingly enough, ND also had 7th place in the 7th contest, but of course ND was nowhere close to the other entries. The results for the 8th Scenario Contest are going to be up today - so I'm going to go ahead and start it. This contest is open to both Blades of Exile and Blades of Avernum. Submissions should be e-mailed to box1_10_2@yahoo.com[/url]. The deadline for this 1/10 Contest is April 15, 2007, 11:59 EST. The rules have been discussed before: Scenarios may have no more than 1 outdoor section and 10 towns, editor definition. Your scenario may have less than this, but your scenario may not have more. You may do whatever you want as long as they fit into the limits. Unused towns and outdoor sections do not count towards the limit. Judging will be done by ranking from best to worst, and I will total up the rankings, lowest score wins. Tie breaking will be done by which scenario more people prefer. (I'm not decided on what to do in case of an even number for both.) There is no special criteria for judging, it is just which scenario is the best. The only exception is judges may not favor BoE over BoA or vice versa. I'll start collecting judges early in March. I may change my mind, but if there are entries from both, I will most likely require judges to own both BoE and BoA. The amount of time I will allow will depend on the number of submissions into the contest. Scenarios entered in this contest will be elgible for the 9th Scenario Design Contest when it comes. Also, for those of you who plan to do a BoE scenario, please do not password entries. I want to check in the scenario editor that your scenario is elgible. I'll probably do more levels this year if I can find time. However, I'm working on a BoE scenario that's not huge, but is taking lots of work to make because the plot is branched out in five different ways, and other choices affect the solutions, and.... yeah, you get the idea. I don't anticipate on having it released until late 2007. Nioca - that's great. New level designers are always good news. I'm most likely going to go with the 4/1 deadline, since I have the week after off from school, and I'll definitely be judging this contest. The amount of time allowed for judging will depend on the number of submissions, I guess. If anyone's not clear on judging, it is done by ranking every scenario from best to worst, it's added up, lowest score wins. Judging criteria is up to the judge (i.e. there's no special way a judge is supposed to judge), with the exception that you can't favor BoE over BoA or vice versa. There's only one round of judging. As for Laz's question: Submissions aren't released until after the contest by the coordinator, but designers may choose to release their scenario before the results are announced on their own. For the judging, if there are entries from both BoE and BoA, which I doubt, I think I will require judges to have both. It's a short contest, and there's not too high of a demand for judges. I'd be surprised if there are BoE entries, though, because as far as I'm aware, I'm the only person working on a BoE scenario, and it's definitely not going to be a 1/10 scenario. -------------------- "Let us see what the new day brings." - Temas, Areni. 1. Don't play Geneforge, prefer Exile engine to Avernum engine. 2. Avernum - Exile is pretty much done, I hear Avernum 5 will be great, don't know about G5. 3. I've been playing Exile since 2000, but I didn't register until 2001, and I didn't get BoE until 2002. Started Avernum in 2003. 4. Started Mac, switched to PC. Only registered E3 on Mac though, and I also have it for Windows. I'm with Thuryl. It's about what you can do with ten editor-defintion towns and one editor-definition outdoor section. Plus, it be easier on the judges. Also of note - you don't have to use everything. You can use less than 10 towns and/or not have an outdoor section.
