I can see why the parody contest might not be a good idea. I'm in favor of another 1-10 contest (just thought of the idea yesterday), BoE got some decent scenarios out of that, and its easy. I think I know why the Pearl contest didn't go well, but I think we should run something easier before attempting it again. Plus, the 1-10 should be pretty new to most, as most of the people around today, including myself, weren't around for the original 1-10. With the 8th contest underway, it might be a bit early, but I've noticed usually there's a 'theme' contest between each annual contest. (1-10, DFTS, Pearl). Kelandon mentioned a thread that Ephesos suggested some theme contest, and with no other ideas coming out, we might be able to make it happen. So anyway, I'd just like to collect the idea(s) and see if there's enough interest in such a thing. I'm up for running/administering this contest myself if it goes through, FYI. I hate to say it, but I think TM's ban is permanent. He posted some offensive image, I think. Haven't actually seen it. He'll be unbanned on 12/17 for the contest, but he'll only be allowed to post on the judging forum, so only judges will notice him. His ban will resume on 12/23. Yay more discussion on TM! Easy and simple. The objective is to take groups of scenarios, and combine the titles. (Rules changed) 1. The scenarios in a title do have to have at least one thing in common. 2. Groups can have no less than five scenarios, no more than fifteen. 3. You can leave it to guess, or just reveal it. Have fun! Believe it or not, I am actually considering making the scenario after the one I'm currently working on for BoA (Not the one I'm currently working on), the reason being I'm seeing better BoA scenarios coming out, and the idea for the setting of my fifth scenario might be really cool in 3D. I'm not sure I like the idea of judges being able to review other scenarios, even with less weighing, because it may still cause imbalance. However, I think that the 'weighted judging' may be a problem, because if you take 60% the assigned judges and 40% the not assigned ones, the non-assigned judges may actually have more impact on the score than they should. It seems like your system goes like this: Judge A (assigned) - 8.5/10 Judge B (assigned) - 8.5/10 Judge C (assigned) - 8.5/10 8.5*.6=5.1 Judge D (not assigned) -7.5/10 7.5*.4=3 5.1+3= 8.1 (total) In this case, the total is less than a straight average, even though non-assigned judges "weigh less" then assigned ones. If you want to keep it possible to judge other than your assigned scenarios, I say that un-assigned judges ratings should be halved or something, with the total possible adjusted, like this: Judge A (assigned) - 8.5/10 Judge B (assigned) - 8.5/10 Judge C (assigned) - 8.5/10 Judge D (not assigned) -7.5/10 (convert 7.5 to 3.8 out of 5) Total possible = 35 Earned = 29.3 8.37 This way, it's higher than a direct average or a weighed system.
