Awww... TM, if it makes you feel any better, I *really* like your scenarios... :D If you don't care about us, then why do you post here and take part in the community? I bet there are people here who care about you... maybe... ;) But seriously, why don't you care about anyone? This could take the topic in a completely different direction... -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

I *really* hope this topic does not die yet, I have tried twice already to make a worthwhile topic and they just fizzle out... So, from what I have read, I realized that you all are not faceless weirdos... well, MOST of you are not faceless weirdos... So if this topic does die, I hope it's last post is meaningful, and dies an honorable death. The internet and online communities are not bad. They can be good, if used properly and not abused. I do beleive profiles are pieces of art. So... goodbye cyber culture/what is real? I will miss you... :( -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Do you all know of any scenarios that have a snow or desert based terrain? I have found a few that have desert, like TM's Two Strands. The only thing with that scenario is that it was too short. I have not come across a snowland scenario though... PS What is the name of that web site that has all the backup files for BoE? I believe it has and updated version of BLADBASE. I can't seem to find it... [ Sunday, October 24, 2004 18:21: Message edited by: Mad Mezzulah ] -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

I totally resonate with ADos's comment. I have met people on these boards that I can really relate with. There are so many stupid, brainless drones, it is hard to find a really good friend. Some of the folks on these boards make up for my poor excuse for a social life. -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

I think that Kelandon made a very good point. Moral dillemas and deeper meaning is a big thing in rpgs now as well. Philosophy and ethics adds more meat to a scenario, and makes it more fun to play. -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Well, in games like BoE, (where you make your own scenarios) I think the challange is not just making interesting plots, but taking the BoE engine and pushing it to its limits. In scenarios like Bandits 2, you have the option to read books. In Drizzt's scenario, Shadow of the Stranger, he throws a day and night sequence in there. So I think that RPGs are not only making good and interesting plots, but making them more reallistic and fun to play. -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Well, I guess I kind of underestimated online communities. I didn't think there was such a "real" presence online. I used to think that the whole internet thing was kind of bad, and would fry your brain. I have found that you all are not together in a conspiracy to ruin my potential to do other things besides stare at a screen. I can find really good friends online, that I might meet one day meet. YOU ALL ARE SOOO GREAT! Except for FBM. (Just kidding.) -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Yeah, it is impossible, but it was a cool idea. I myself am not independent of my parentals yet and I doubt they would let me go somewhere to meet a bunch of strangers. But it would be nice though, even if we had one in each country, or a big one for the US and Canada. I am not as tech-savvy as most of you are, and have not had the opportunity to help a member of the community out. But if someone asks, I will try my best to help out. -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

I have the unregistered version, (though I am considering buying the trilogy soon) and I need a place where I can make my weapons flaming. Is there such a place? -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Well, after watching the movie The Matrix, and after my dad taught a class about it, I began to think what reality is. (The first one was pretty good, the other two sucked really bad) As Morpheus (sp?) said, reality can just be electro magnetic signals (or something like that) to the brain. If that is so, than if we make a machine real enough, than it will experience "reality." The whole notion of different accounts come in play as well. We can assume different identities, and in a sense, be different people. t SupaNik: I agree. I come on here to meet friends, partially. Though I think a dangerous thing to want to be someone's friend, and becoming attatched to that. For example, I would love to meet Thuryl in heh, "real life". He seems like a really cool dude and has helped me out in the past. But I don't even know he cares to meet me. So if I dwell on that, I would get mighty depressed, wouldn't I? So I guess attatchment to our views on people plays a role as well. If I do meet Thuryl, he might not be the same as I pictured him. And in real life, he might ignore me, and not give a sh*t about me, which would be mighty depressing as well. Also relative to preconcieved notions, I can relate to someone's house, or a place. I have a picture in my mind of what it looks like. But of course, when I see it, it will be different, and may dampen my original enthusiasm. Hmmm... a better example is christmas. You really want BoA for christmas. You told your parents you want it, and under the tree, you see a small package and you just KNOW it is BoA. But when you open it, it is Exile I. You are dissapointed, and your experience with Exile I will be ruined because you know you really wanted BoA. So I think it is important to realize attatchments, and erase preconceived notions. PS, We should all get together and have a party that lasts like a week. :P [ Friday, October 22, 2004 10:16: Message edited by: Mad Mezzulah ] -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Well Lighter, from what I have gathered, we like Jeff's games, but his attitude and attention to the community is little, if any. Especially BoE. If that answers your question. -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Since my remotely intelligent topic about Holloween is dying, I guess it is worth a shot making another one in hopes it will flourish. What do you all think about... talking to people online. I mean, I am stating my thoughts to a bunch of complete strangers. It is weird, isn't it? Another thing is, do we care about the people we might IM or bash online, or are they just faceless weirdos? In a way, the person is just a part of your imagination, not real. They are nothing but a few lines of text and maybe a picture or two. So what is real then? They talk to us, we see their picture, but do they really exist until we meet them in person? I don't know if I am making sense, just let me know and I will try to clarify so we can all talk... -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

I think it would be capitalized Alorael. You are talking about a specific race, a group. Or maybe not. You don't capitalize "cats" do you? But on the other hand, you capitalize "American" and "Canadian." Hmmm.... the plot thickens... -------------------- Wham Bam Shizam Posts: 247 | Registered: Monday, September 6 2004 07:00 |

Really, how many of you are glad to have polls back? I was just wondering if it was really a big deal not having them. PS I am so clever, making a poll about polls...
