I assume the standard BoA Editor works for you? Possibly the download was corrupted, and you should try downloading it again?

Same old story in Blades of Avernum

All relevant skills - Intelligence, Mage/Priest spells (whichever's relevant), and Magery - increase the damage of affected spells by the same amount. Getting one intelligence increases your damage by the same amount as one Magery or one Mage/Priest Spells skill. This is described in the Blades of Avernum documentation, Spells, Bonus.

Each level of intelligence only increases damage by 1. Since the amount of damage is randomized anyway, I suppose it's possible that you didn't notice 6 extra damage, especially if you were unlucky.

If intelligence doesn't help, then magery won't. It's odd that intelligence doesn't though, because the BoA Docs say that its damage is increased by your bonus. (it's been known to be wrong, though; it isn't too surprising).

EDIT: After doing some testing with the character editor, I found that Intelligence does increase Repel Spirit's damage.

Fun facts about script calling order! in Blades of Avernum Editor

Also, for the party triggering step-on specials, if there are multiple types in the same place, the order is terrain script, then special rectangle, then script for stepping on that terrain type (one of the possible special properties of terrain).

EDIT:

So that's why certain terrain scripts that I've heard of blast the party into oblivion instead of just damaging them once a turn. Things like that would need to check the tick to make sure it's different than last time. Or of course, do it in the town's START_STATE, but terrain scripts are nicer for some things.

No. I found that without them I couldn't tell where the spaces were. Although it would be possible to modify the code to remove them, there isn't room for more buttons to do all these suggested features. If I decided I wanted to work on this program some more, though, I could add another row of buttons.

Problems designing stairs in Blades of Avernum Editor

Use terrain #1, "Blackness", at the end of your stairs. That's what the stairs you copied do, although it's hard to tell (I figured it out by drawing cave floor all over the Solid Stone, and some of the black area didn't seem to disappear. That's Blackness terrain, probably designed for this purpose).

I have converted the graphics in a way I think will work. The code would have to be changed for it to work on Windows.

I have finished version 0.9b1, which includes the tiny rectangles in 3D, and Tab to switch between 2D and 3D, as well as some more bugfixes. Get it at the same place. Unless I get the tinting code or more bug reports soon, I will release this as version 1.0.

Jeff (or anybody else who would know), what should I do with it when it becomes version 1.0, to make it available to everyone?

Does this apply there too?

Hmmm... If you could post your tinting code, then, well, I'll probably implement it. If not, I doubt I will. After all, I don't even know how much each thing tints it, and I don't know how to do "bit by bit editing of the graphic data" (although I bet I could figure that part out).

If not, I'll just switch to 2-d. No big deal.
I am going to implement that tomorrow.

That reminds me, I was actually intending to implement that, with the exact same key, but I forgot about it. I'll do that too.
