Here's to another scenario being completed! Yay! And this time, I'm the one who finally got his act together enough to finish a scenario. The title may seem unfamiliar, but it's the scenario formerly known as Ghosts on a Boat. Anyway, it needs testing, and that's where everybody but me comes in! (I've tested it enough) I don't need too many testers, since this is a relatively short scenario, but I'd like some windows folks and some mac folks. What I need from you: Name (what you'd like to appear in the readme) Email address Platform/OS Prior experience Whether or not you'll actually provide any useful feedback -------------------- TM: "I want BoA to grow. Alright, I was gonna go the civil route and just send some PMs, but I sense that isn't what's expected of me. I do not inherently dislike long RP posts. What I dislike, and our friend Nioca's writing is an excellent example of this, are posts that go on forever without achieving any element of depth. I hate posts that slap up a couple shallow paragraphs about twenty different places on the face of Ermarian. If you follow a handful of characters and give them depth, that is perfectly acceptable and basically expected. If you try to give real-world depth to every single minor page you introduce in your faction, it is not only unfeasible, but impossible to follow and still have any will to live by the end. Now the luxury of a factional RP is that you can develop events that are happening on the other end of the world through the eyes of another character. This, instead of naming every single insignificant servant asked to fetch coffee for your leader and detailing the route they take to the Ermarian equivalent of Starbuck's. You don't have to jump your perspective around, unless your faction is the least organized group of twits on the planet, in which case they shouldn't be a faction, just an unorganized group of twits spoiling everyone else's fun. ET, as much as I dislike your constantly insolent demeanor on these boards, and as much as I wish you'd drop your petty little fantasy that you are the revolutionary who will stir up this little message board's inhabitants into a frenzy and elect you Supreme Leader of Everything That Doesn't Suck, I actually like your RP style. I enjoyed it in LoD, and thus did not enjoy your character's prolonged absences (which were mostly related to some aforementioned dislikeable characteristics). Your posts may be long, but they actually say something about characters that are essential to your contribution to the RP's story. I have no quarrel with you, sir, aside from your behavior in the forum at large. Oh, but look, my post is too long now, and if I don't want to look like a hypocrite I should shove rusty sporks through my *&%#^ eyes to appease ET and his relentless quest to abuse everyone with a lower member number than him. Good day to you all. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Posts: 4130 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

I second Nikki's sentiments about the title, but I might actually have the time, willpower, and interest to participate in it. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. Posts: 4130 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |

I'm similarly at a loss for what to do. If people just want to wrap this up, then by all means go ahead, and just keep your noses out of Vantanas so I can wrap it up myself. My only plot contributions so far are snubbing the Sanctuary, getting my leader kidnapped, and putting about twenty or thirty druids into Valorim. If we're going to continue, then I'd like to start enforcing a page limit on posts. And I'm dead serious about that. If you can't say what you need to say in a nice, concise post, then you shouldn't be involving your faction in every single corner of Valorim. We don't need to hear that random miner X is still toiling away somewhere slightly northwest of Pergies, we don't need to know that courier Y saw some interesting bluffs on her way to Gale. In conclusion, blurp. I'm trying to catch up on sleep and nourishment right now, as well as finish a Blades scenario, so any involvement I'd have would likely be a little patchy, but my spring break starts at the end of next week. So there. I'd hate to see this thing die again, but I'd also hate to see it continue in this gross parody of unlife that is characterized by endless rolls of continent-spanning posts. quote:Why would he, if Aran wasn't going to show? But yeah, I agree about prom being absurd, and the same for both high school and college. But for all the absurdity of high school prom, I actually went... but only because someone asked me (this was one of those things where out of all of my friends, I was the last to know about it). Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have bothered. But what I really find to be absurd is the number of ways people have spelled 'college'. EDIT: Well, what do you know, number 4000. Milestone-tastic! Lexinator, welcome to the Spiderweb Software Boards. Leave your sanity at the door. Sadly, this topic has come up many, many times before, and it usually comes to the same conclusion: no dice. I honestly don't think that the games would gain much in translation, and in fact they'd probably lose more. I'm not sure about Jeff's views on the subject. Though I will admit that using the DS stylus for targeting could be nice. -------------------- TM: "I want BoA to grow. Evolve where the food ladder has rungs to be reached." Excalibur, they never stop spamming you. I'm a junior in college, and I occasionally still get college mail. During freshman year, I think I might've gotten some at my college address. But what's even better is that since I'm younger than the average college junior, the mail kept arriving for longer. In fact, my own college kept sending me admissions mailings until about halfway through my sophomore year. -------------------- TM: "I want BoA to grow. Urgh... well, fair enough. Now, the thread should be locked, and Dikiyoba should take a nice vacation from writing to properly mull over the inevitable sequel. :P -------------------- TM: "I want BoA to grow. You know, one of the perks of a factional RP is that you don't need nine pages of backstory for every peripheral character. :P Sara, it's cool... I was similarly inactive. Figured I'd wait to do anything with Sister Nimbus until you showed signs of life. -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice.
