The editor is clunky right now, but other than being a bit more convenient, I don't think the new one will be that much easier to use, at least in the forseeable future.

I mean, BoA is hard and arduous to design in. No amount of utilities will make it easy, even if they make it easier.

He was pretty darn successful, though, so I don't think his charisma was his undoing.

I did this in LP. You just make graphics that have the same ID as the ones you want to over-write, and tell PC users to copy them over into their data files. You can just include it in the .cmg file for Macs and it will work more or less fine.

If you want to look at how I did it, just download Lord Putidus.

The answer, for lurkers with the same question, is that you have to switch the portal manually up in the northeast. Touch the rune to alter the portal's destination.

To prevent ridiculous spam, I'll lock this topic.

I strongly suggest that you talk to Berra again, make sure that you've told him about the evidence you've acquired, and then return to the Bunker and look back over your dialogue options again.

If all else fails, you don't actually need the weapon that the Bunker makes. It just makes one encounter easier.

So what happens when you go to the Bunker? What are your dialogue options (in the final room, in the southwest IIRC)?

Remember that he himself was forced to kill Count Dooku (or whatever) when the Count was unarmed and begging for mercy. It was an almost identical situation, and he was overcompensating for his previous failure.

The other part of that is sort of what was just pointed out: his loyalties are already to Palpatine much more than to anyone else at this point (even more than to the Republic itself), and those loyalties are not easy to relinquish. Episodes II and III both make a big deal out of how much Anakin owes his entire place among the Jedi to Palpatine. It's hard just to forget about that, especially in light of the fact that he doesn't like the unarmed-and-begging-for-mercy bit.

That also helps explain why he goes so quickly evil from there. Apparently that moment — standing and watching Palpatine kill Windu — was the turning point, the point from which there was no coming back.

I liked this part, because I felt that it showed how he felt that he had no other choice when he sort of did but also how it turned him evil. It was a bit startling, but I think it's right.

Episode II is on TV right now, and I'm reminded of how bad it really was and how much Hayden Christensen has grown as an actor since the last movie.

I thought Episode III was compelling and well-done. A few of the lines were cheesy but certainly not unbelievable. But I did feel a little bit of the same of what Alec felt: the movie really should've ended with the shot of Darth Vader and the Emperor in front of the Death Star, without the next two shots. This was Anakin's movie, and it should've closed with him.

The complexity of the transformation was the most admirable part of the movie: I could understand how he could choose evil while feeling that he had no other choice.

I really liked the movie, overall. I thought it stood right next to the original three in terms of overall quality and may have had a psychological depth that surpassed them. It certainly blows Episodes I and II out of the water. And the transformation near the very end will, no matter what you thought of the rest of the prequel trilogy, give you chills.

Neato. Good to know that progress is being made. I look forward to seeing the result soon (mere weeks from now, it sounds!), even if it may be a bit crude at first.

Wizcozski has requested that I take over her beta testing position, so send future e-mails to me instead of her. It's tomwatts (*at*) berkeley (*dot*) edu.

Even Bahssikava only had four testing versions altogether (if you count the first one, which was partial). I think it's about time that this one simply get put out there and considered finished. And if you want to keep designing, start fresh with something new.

But eh. I haven't played UV yet, and I have a fair bit of free time on my hands now, so I guess I'll give it a shot and submit a beta report.

I think English is pretty easy. You don't have to remember if the table, or the tv, or a pencil is supposed to be called he, she, or it. That takes out a whole lot of memorizing! It also makes conjugation easy, because if you'd like to use a verb with your table, you have to know what gender it is.

Few languages actually make their verb agree with the noun in gender. Russian does in the past tense, but that's the only one I can think of. The Romance languages certainly do not.

Another reason it's easy,
He is, she is, it is. He runs, she runs, it runs. There's a lot of not changing that goes on here.

Yes, because those are all third-person singuar. English still has vestigial tense in the third-person singular (he runs, they run) and in the verb to be (I am, we are, he/she/it is). English also has somewhat deformed pronoun case (I see him, but he sees me). This is just enough in the way of conjugation and declension that it screws up non-European language speakers, but not enough that it can have the power of a heavily inflected language.

And memorizing our spelling is generally far more heinous than remembering arbitrary gender.

No, not usually. Irregular verbs tend to descend from Anglo-Saxon, which employed vowel mutation to mark tense, rather than adding an ending (I run today, but I ran yesterday vs. I surf the Internet today, but I surfed the Internet yesterday). And since Anglo-Saxon was the linguistic ancestor of our language, these are the only words that can be said not to have been borrowed from other languages.

In basic vocabulary, but not in grammar. German is heavily inflected, whereas English is about a lightly inflected as any Indo-European language.

Let me see if I understand you. You know who is responsible for the monster plagues, but you can't get the right dialogue option to tell the people in the Bunker who is responsible?

What evidence have you gotten? Have you talked with Berra?
