I only vaguely know what you're talking about, but if memory serves there's a portal that's only there for decoration and that's the one you're thinking of. —Alorael, who must add that the Vale of the Sould is one of Jeff's better concepts. Samael and his dummy are great. It's a shame you can't pawn your souls and make resurrection that much less convenient. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I don't know about political relations, but I can assure you that my personal relationship with Canada is at an all-time high. I need somewhere to run to when Christianity becomes mandatory in the U. S. of A. —Alorael, who expects Canada's power to grow as the world's population does. Canada has a whole lot of a resource that will become critical very shortly: space. People need space, and Canada has lots of it. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Ahem. The conspiracy will not be televised and it will not be exposed on forums. Do not adjust your implants. —Alorael, who would like to remind everyone that the back rooms are for private use only and the smoke is decorative. Any questions? (Hint: the answer is no.) Right this instant? Nothing. Now in a general sense? Luciferase immunoprecipitation systems and better buffer change systems. —Alorael, who probably should be researching research techniques. His aren't sufficiently advanced or magical. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Dintiradan, and not really. I've never wanted to inflict mass destruction. Localized and very specific destruction, maybe, but not mass destruction. —Alorael, who already has his precision weapon, thank you very much. All the problems he has left are the ones that don't respond well to sniping. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Given that Scorp has inflicted slow and painful, especially the latter, on so many, I think it's a reasonable expectation that slow and painful will eventually be done unto him. —Alorael, who has yet another idea, and this time a somewhat practical one. With all the concern over designer babies, why not have all the babies delivered in one hospital collected and put into opaque "eggs," then let the parents pick a random egg? That would keep things fair. If the state wanted a little more profit, they could even give out babies by lottery, with the most heavily and positively modified ones for the very lucky and your ordinary, natural baby for the hapless. What we really need is spawning. Make it millions of tiny little eggs, most of which don't survive to hatch. Those that do are helpless, worthless little grubs until they eventually develop into real human beings. —Alorael, who doesn't even think it's all that different from the current system. Not too many. It'd be fragile as an egg. I suppose the expression "walking on eggshells" would take on an entirely new and sinister meaning, too. —Alorael, who wonders if pro-lifers would start egging the houses of pro-choicers. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

In E3 you see a tree and ask what it's for, but you never bat an eyelash (or whatever sliths have) at roofs. I conclude that roofs are commonplace in Avernum. —Alorael, who now wants to climb on top of the Bunker and see if they left out a crucial part of its impenetrability. Or not so crucial, since Avernites are very limited in climbing ability. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

A1-3 have elevation and outdoors. A4 has neat combat. Personally, I'd like the best of both worlds, and I don't think it's so far-fetched. Given one or the other, though, I'll go with the originals. —Alorael, who actually wants the best of all worlds. Exile spells in Avernum's engine with A4's nice tweaks! Human babies are already as little developed as possible when they're born. They're completely helpless because a more developed baby would be even more awful to squeeze out. So yes, I think human eggs would be more or less the size of human babies. They'd either need to contain the full baby or everything necessary to make it. —Alorael, who would also like to remind everyone that you can't make an omlette without breaking eggs. Technology gives us all kinds of advantages. I say babies should be birthed/laid in packets that are then assembled once they have all been received by the, er, something. —Alorael, who just wouldn't really want to watch that process in action. And now he's afraid to use BitTorrent. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

The critical part is the time machine being indestructible. If it survives catastrophic locations and events, it will end up going through everyone's hands, and someone among everyone will eventually want to go everywhere and everywhen. That's a grotesque approximation, of course, which is why I added the standard excessive physics disclaimer. —Alorael, who wonders if Zxquez is, in fact, a time machine. Or perhaps Imban. That would explain why they're everyone. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |
