Bush has suggested his brother Jeb as the next president. The position is not yet hereditary, but you have to take into account the possibility that Bush's successor will not be sane in any sense of the word...

Fortunately, at the moment, it's a product of the lunatic fringe. In a couple of years though, who knows? And yes, I'm from the US.

Is there a particular reason why the president adamantly refuses to affirm that there will be no nuclear strike? Currently it sounds like "we don't intend to as such, but all options are on the table", which is somewhat reminiscent of cold-war politics...

Leet is still an effective way of avoiding auto-censors and ban filters, apparently, and I heard it was developed in part for that purpose.

At my parents', we share one DSL access in our subnet; in my college dorm, we're all connected to the university backbone (T1 access, about 2-4 mbps)

—Alorael, who is actually rather curious. He thought it was one of those absurd things that only makes sense in a totally surreal dream setting.

Actually, that Myst door not only rotated, but at the same time slid in its axis, to sink down flat onto the floor. Now I also remember where it was - in Myst 3, the door to Saavedro's study.

--

I had yet another dream last night that I've also forgotten most of, but two details remain:

I was standing in front of a mirror, but the mirror had a "lag" - that is to say, when I raised my left hand, it would take a few seconds for the mirror to copy my movement.

Then I asked my father (who was in the next room) why the mirror did that, and he launched into a dizzingly complex explanation about physics. The only part of it I remember is "time is divided into infinitely small instants that are alternatingly either 'light moments' or 'dark moments'. If the mirror drops the dark instants and reflects the light instants, that creates a field of compressed time around it, which would make it seem to you as if the mirror's reflection took some time to react."

As it turned out, however, he was wrong. In fact, the computer that runs our universe was overloaded, causing it to lag.

---

The second part I remember is that my grandmother gave me a diary (I'd told her my old one would soon be full, so I'd need a new one), but it turned out that the diary had already been written in by someone. My grandmother told me something like "there is plenty of room in the back though, it's not even half full". I looked at the entries and saw that one of them was dated in 1515. Tucked between two of the pages was a letter addressed to "Marlenny" and signed with "Kel" - also dated 1515.

Alo: I've actually seen doors that open in the latter fashion.

In a Myst game. Of course. :P

---

I just woke up ten minutes ago from a dream where I was working in some big company with all of the other Spiderwebbers. I was told off by our boss because I fell asleep on top of a really large bookshelf during the night shift. There was a lot of other weirdness as well. I had to make a company trip to a city that might have been Celephais. The details of the dream are fading fast, unfortunately, so there's not much else I remember beyond a few dim concepts that are difficult to put in words without making stuff up.

I do remember I was waiting for - I think - Riibu to submit a report on some project. But I couldn't find her office and didn't know how to contact her, so I just started riding up and down in the elevator until I met her - with the luck I have in dreams, her office was probably at ground level.

You can tell us. It's not as if any of us can, like, reach all the way over to Italy and grab it. Arm's too short.

Nico: "usual classmates" as in your classmates in school (and you've never been in a fencing class), or the ones you usually are with in fencing class in real life?

If the latter... mental note: Nico not only has a mechanical pencil, she takes fencing classes. Annoy at peril.

I dreamed that I got up, showered, had breakfast and went to work. I was so relieved that I hadn't overslept that I didn't even hear the ring of the alarm clock.

Gah.

You have been here so long you should know that this isn't the first incarnation of the official SW forum, and not by a long shot the first community Blades fans have ever had. It goes back to the mid-nineties for some - compared to that, my three years look quite pitiful.

Dude, I'm a newbie, and I've been here for precisely three years (minus three days). :P

I also realized it had to be a mistake as soon as I saw the thread.

It's a bit like a topic titled "RiB is out!"
