I knew there was some buried significance in Alorael's sentence "It's been fun, Spideweb." I believe now that he was saying that all good things, like what Spiderweb used to be, must end. I'm not sure if this is how everyone interpreted it, but that's what I got out of it. It was 70F here in Chicago two days ago. Yesterday it rained and dropped to 40F. Today there is 6" of snow on the ground with my window thermometer reading 29F. These were drastic changes in my opinion. My take on it is pretty simple. The capacity for magical essence is encoded in the genes. Any mage can use magic to manipulate objects and materials; however, it would be impossible to create life by manually inscribing each and every letter of the DNA. Essence contains the essence of life; it naturally helps to guide shapers so they do not have to deal with the specifics of the DNA itself. The permanent, independent creations must have their forms chemically solidified with no magic so that they can persist even without any of its creator's essence. I don't think being boring factors into this discussion. It is a matter of striking the right balance between what is intelligent and interesting, and what is humorous and otherwise pointless. Boring topics, like spam, must exist since not all topics can be captivating masterpieces. Additionally, some boring topics every once in a while still spur discussion though it may be slow-paced and overly academic. The voter turnout amongst young adults would skyrocket if they ran for president. Schwarzenegger's governorship entertains me, but it is only more evidence of the growing power of the Hollywood media to influence people in every way. This type of appeal to popularity instead of policy is exactly why presidential elections were not originally set up to allow the American people at large to vote for the office. But he has excellent aides and advisers and hasn't made any errors large enough to lose him the vote, so he's not the worst thing imaginable.
