Your confusion stems from Andraste being not Spanish but Brythonic.

For General American, the name "Anna" plus the word "pest," with the stress on "an." Received Pronunciation also allows "pist" with a short i.

"Poe-et" for my original name, and "Object of every persons desire" for the current one.

Edit: The new current one (the old one being Jimmy Dean) is "Muss-o-leen-ie".

I think.

I think your dictionary is working with a different set of long vowels and short vowels than Thuryl and I were referring to. I think your dictionary is talking about Latin longs and shorts, whereas we were referring to English longs and shorts. If that is the case, we're saying the same thing with different terminology.

I'm talking about English long and shorts as described on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_vowels
Short vowels: pat, pet, pit, pot, put.
Long vowels: The names of the letters a, e, i, o, u. (bait, beet, bite, boat, boot)

That'll teach all you "Lenner" types.

Thus far, the only name I've been pronouncing incorrectly is Kel's... putting the emphasis on the first syllable.

I pronounce Alo's name "a-LORRA-el".

It's kinda wierd and puts a feminine twist on it but I've never spelt his name wrong since. Spelling is the most important after all.

Isn't that right Dintiradan?

Like the Spanish word for Sea "Mar" (pronounced like the 'Mar' in 'Martian') with the name Lenny next to it. No, it is not Marlene or Marleeny. About the rest: Alorael, Dikiyoba, Andraste, etc. I pronounce them the Spanish way. I've been doing it my whole life, and it's kind of hard to stop being used to it.

On a completely unrelated note, Alec wanted me to let you all know that he will not be coming back after his banned is lifted. And I guess since we are talking about people leaving I'll take the time to announce my goodbye. Which should be noted has nothing to do with Alec leaving, I mean he is Alec. (Meaning he'll probably be back in two months under a different account :P ). Anyways, I haven't posted much in the past couple of weeks, and prior to that I only posted for the spam fest so I guess I've been gone without really saying goodbye. There is a chance that I might be back when GF4 comes for windows, and you can all IM me whenever you see me around. Bye!

Dammit, I am actually more than a little upset now. And only the death of Dick Van Dyke could make it worse...

Not so. Since I finished the EOL I have become a true paragon of evil. Now, anyone who merely utters my name draws my attention.

Seems I've been pronouncing nearly everyone's name right. Dikiyoba I got wrong: DIK-key-YO-bah. Arancaytar looked so Sindarin: ah-RAN-kay-TAR.

The Silent Assassin spent part of his early career on a rogue merchant vessel.
He and his commrades were put out of business only after Augustus took the throne and actually started paying attention to the condition of the fleet.
The Silent Assassin tells me he went into real estate for a time after that.

I "left" during the elections last year and it was completely ridiculous because for the week I managed to keep off my main account, I used a second one to post about once a day.

That's "absent". :P

Edit: This is gettign annoying. Yesterdy I kept confusing Nikki for MagmaDragoon; today I keep confusing Thuryl for Tyran.

Might be the cafeine and sleep drepivtaion.

There was also Thralni (whom I believe was going by the moniker MC Mini Thralni at the time) who also announced he was leaving at one point. He never did, though.

It's been a while, but I think Thralni said something along the lines that he would stop visiting General on a regular basis. He still appears once in a while (he posted a picture not that long ago), and he's in the Blades related forums infrequently. Not gone forever, just... semi-retired.

The main reason I remember it was because someone made a very TM-like remark (a particularly nasty one, too), and everyone was complaining about Thralni being over-dramatic about something.

I have a habit of over emphasising each letter, even when they're supposed to be silent. Probably a Biology Reflex.

BTW: I'm leaving too . . . mmmm ice-cream, good thing the fridge is close.
