Seriously, at least he was quirky. Our current batch of noobs are more nauseating than anything else. Hell, bring back llama and bomber, just get rid of these guys.

The old noobs only seem appealing because you forgot what they were really like now that they are gone.

Bring back Shotts!

I did fail to notice the part when Bomber went insane. He was a normal poster for a while, I thought, and then he was an insane spammer/troll. I missed the transition.

Considering the massive topic deletions in Ed's last days, I won't miss a chance to say "In before lock" that many times.

If you really want something interesting then try to convince JV to reinstate TM for more than contest judging. At least he could make an interesting post when he wasn't flaming.

Although TM is one of my favorite people to grace the boards, it's hard to argue for his reinstatement, he had that coming for a long time. Still, I'd welcome his return.

Given a choice between stupidity, and stupidity combined with puerile profanity, I'll take stupidity.

In other words, no.

(This to Ed et al, not TM)

Awwww. I figured from the thread title that Ed was a bot, and after a little tweak to the program, err music, he could be re-introduced.

Come on Aran, you know you want to do it.

:P

Salmon, you'd only say that if you were hopped up on Goofballs—or because you actually miss the somewhat tolerable old noobs compared to the wholly aggravating, crazy-making new noobs by comparison. I can't say I'd blame you for the latter. The former would be yer own damm fawlt, junkie.

For your information, EndeavorBot read your post and wanted to challenge you to a duel to avenge this insult. I talked him out of it, fortunately - Asimov's laws aren't messed with. :P

I'm pretty sure Ed doesn't want to come back. I've talked to him over MSn a few times.

Oh god no, don't bring Ed back. he wrote me an email some weeks ago, wanting to be friends again. However, when I told him why i didn't really trust him, he went all mad and again starting flaming me. So no, you don't want him back.

I'm not sure anybody saw the moment where he cracked. It was so sudden...

And please, no ed. No talk of ed. We don't need more topic deletions making the board more unstable, and personally, I don't want to try and defend newbs intent on their own banning again...

EDIT: So I don't make the exact same post as Dolphin, I agree about the below posts.

Seriously, why do you ask for people to come back?
They are gone. It's still nice to look at their old posts and/or talk to them on other sites but i still don't know why you want them back?

Doctor Faust i presume, we'd rather be insane that to be stupid and act like infants.

Well, if you take things out of context...

Also, for all his potty-talk (yay for American lingo), TM is pretty reasonable, at least in my experience. And I've been around long enough to remember when he wasn't banned every two minutes.

Nioca: TM, like most people here, is actually a very reasonable person, in case you hadn't noticed. I mean sure, his posts could use a couple gallons of disinfectant every now and then, but beyond that, he's fine. He's as core of a member as any other "oldbie," or whatever we're calling that now. And when he does go off, he does so in a fairly restrained way. Like, instead of posting six topics full of gibberish, he'll make one topic with a really pointed (and possibly offensive) comment. And honestly, I think that's easier on everyone.

And honestly, if we brought him back, we'd probably have fewer of these disputes between oldbies and newbies, if only because TM would say something that just makes everyone stop and think for a while (even if they're just trying to figure out if they've been insulted or not).

When TM says something, everyone should feel insulted. Whether or not it was directed at them.

It's sad, but I actually agree. At least those noobs are gone and never really lasted, these ones seem to have stayed far too long.

I think the difference is not that old troublemakers were better, but that mods used to pay more attention to the boards, so those trouble-makers got banned very quickly. Llama/Bomber pair were more annoying than Nalyd, but those two got banned so quickly that now we fondly remember them as a colorful episode from the past.

So the solution is not to bring back Ed. It's for the mods to remember that they are supposed to do more than just show off their IP checking powers and collect pretty pictures for topic locking.
