Owning a cell phone doesn't mean being attached to it. I spend a lot of time without my phone for a variety of reasons. Sometimes I know I can't take any calls so there's no reason to have it. Sometimes I don't want to talk to everyone who might be calling. Sometimes, alas, it's just sitting under my bed.

—Alorael, who believes this may be tied to his use of his phone as an alarm clock. When turning it off he usually just smacks it and continues to smack it until it stops beeping. He then wakes up a good half hour later, in a rush, and forgets the phone where it's been knocked under some furniture.

Don't listen to Dintiradan. I'm glad someone had the balls to say they'd erase Hitler from history. I was getting tired of all the "oh, I wouldn't want to ruin the time continuum, wah." Makes me sick. Not only is the question hypothetical, but really, is our current world worth keeping the way it is?

If I had to pick somebody... Jeffrey Dahmer. I was thinking Ossama Bin Laden but it wouldn't make much difference since someone else would have just rose to the occasion to be the leader. Jeffrey worked alone.

And for the record. Everyone who has ever lost their life for the name of Jesus was saved.

If your going to play with words, get my words right. I didn't say "lost their life for the name of" I said "killed in the name of." There is a dramatic difference, but either way it's still death. I had saving lives in mind.

Jeffrey Dahmer, I guess that saves what, twenty people? Commendable, but not very impressive.

And once again the oldbie/newbie debate emerges. The problem is trying to pigeonhole everyone into only two pigeonholes. Oldbie and newbie cease to be useful terms when you use them like that.

There are different levels of oldbiehood, so some might distinguish Drakey's from Alorael's, but for practical purposes and for almost everyone here there is essentially no difference. I might classify Kel and Aran as 'neo-oldbies'. I might call myself a 'pseudo-oldbie' since I am not really an oldbie at all, but camouflage well.

Newbiehood correlates to some degree with noobishness but mainly just with time, and there are levels of this as well. This label is more subjective than oldbie.

There are certainly users who don't fall into either category, and categorically. Dikiyoba would be a good example. I propose the term 'midbie'.

Really, the 'favorite user' questions are so stupid, so socially ranking and jealousy arousing. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Anyway, I'll answer the interesting questions...

Current:
Book you are reading? Modern Psychotherapies
Game you are playing? Live-a-Live, Zelda 3, Magic Stones, Battle for Wesnoth

Fav:
Cartoon? The old X-Men series, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and of course Captain Planet
SW oldbie - Servant of Trinity
SW midbie - Dikiyoba
SW newbie? - Arghhhhhhhhh (R.I.P.)

Have you ever?
Been in love? Yes, twice.

Random
First quote that pops into your head? "...while to my shame I see the imminent death of twenty thousand men, who for a fantasy and trick of fame go to their graves like beds, fight for a plot whereon the numbers cannot try the cause, which is not tomb enough, and continent, to hold the slain!"
Name a song that makes you sad - Ziggy Stardust
If you could remove a person from history, who would it be? I wouldn't.

On the subject of newbie/oldbie-ness: part of the problem is that there have been waves of joining. Basically every two years or so the community recycles itself with a new wave of departures and arrivals. We're just now beginning a new wave, I think.

Anyway, people who have been around for a couple more waves than other people seem oldbie-ish to them. I seem like an oldbie in comparison to, say, Tullegolar, because I arrived (I'd say) two waves before he did. Thuryl makes me look like a newbie, though.

When was the last time that:
You showered? This afternoon.
You lost your cell phone? Where? I don't think I ever have. I destroyed one in a washing machine once, though, long ago.
You lost your keys? Locked them somewhere? I really can't remember. Loooong ago.
You cut your hair? June or July, I think.
You overslept? Mildly — Thursday. I had some work that I needed to do, but was too lazy to get up. Seriously? I can't recall.

Current:
Mode of transportation? Car, too frequently.
Book you are reading? Gradually working my way back through LotR. I'm at Two Towers right now.
Model of cell phone? Uh... Cingular... something....
Jewlery you are wearing? The only accessory at all is a plain watch.
Game you are playing? I'm between games right now.

Fav:
Cartoon? you can include cartoons that you used to like South Park. Family Guy. (When I was little, Gargoyles.)
Baseball team? Giants, of course!
Location? Heh.
SW oldbie Thuryl, of course.
SW newbie? I'll give you three guesses. And the first two don't count.

Have you ever?
Stalked someone? Define "stalked."
Been in love? Yeah.
Missed TM? Oddly enough, yeah.
Gotten lost? Duh...
Thrown a pie at someone? No.

First quote that pops into your head? "Better to reign in hell...." Perhaps my favorite quote.
Name a red object in your room My TPR shirt.
Name a song that makes you sad "Last Kiss," Pearl Jam.
If you could remove a person from history, who would it be? Not sure. One of the post-Hitler genocide-committers. Hitler himself, as atrocious as he was, was useful to show how utterly horrible genocide is. After him, all the other ones have been entirely without use.
If you could call someone a 'best friend', who would that be? Heh.

I have a bunch of questions I've been planning to post, but I'm stuck with them now. Can't change moniker - can't post topics. If only I had net connection on my own computer.

They're pretty good questions though. Deep, thought-provoking ones about shallow topics.

That does make more sense. Sorry to misquote. Many have been killed in the name of Jesus, but many more were killed in the name of God. Might do better to take out Moses as he caused the death of all the soldiers of Egypt and initiated the genocide in the promised land. Again though he was just one of a group with like mindset. Someone else could have easily rose to the occasion.

I realize it's just hypothetical, but I really don't have an answer there anyway. Besides… it's true. Maybe I've just seen too much Sci-Fi where they use time travel, but my answer was the thought that first came to mind.

Now, as far as the world being worth keeping the way it is, well… that's up for debate. I must agree that I think the same thing every time I hear about someone getting robbed or murdered. Or every time an idiot gets behind the wheel of a car. Or any given time that Michael Jackson is not caged up in a zoo. However, these things can't have been prevented by removing any one person from history anyway.

I take great offense to this. Hitler was a racist. Racism is not only a tool of the weak but too often it is not backed with reason and logic. My philosophy is always pragmatic, and I always back up my reasons for killing off groups of people with facts and well though out justification. I have yet to hear a convincing argument against my philosophy, while I myself can think of many against Hitler’s.

Jesus: I believe that Jesus was a key part in the globalization of Christianity. Anyone could have replaced Moses, but without Jesus, Rome would not have converted and the crusades would have been diverted. We would also be free of today's current Middle East dilemma.

And this topic didn't have enough decent arguments against your philosophy?

I tried to think of something witty to put here.

Needless to say, I failed.

Not 'convincing' ones. Sure, they put up a valiant fight, but I always responded to their banter with cold, calculated logic. I think we can conclude that my methods were harsh and even barbaric at times, but also very reasonable. Besides, in the end, I got the last word. Why, is there something about my idea you have a problem with?
