Welcome back!

By the way, Queen has better songs than Princes of the Universe. Like Bohemian Rhapsody for example. Princes of the Universe is pretty good though.

Are they ever.

Welcome back, all, but please, Toenail, if ever you find yourself in this situation again, be a little more subtle about it. Let people figure it out for themselves when you start posting again. We don't need to know that you're back for its own sake. Ben's got the right idea - use an existing topic.

Oh, and Gaelic? That's one of those languages I'd like to know but wouldn't like to learn... how long did it take you?

Glad to see you back! Both of you! It was getting a bit boring without you. Want your fortune/future predicted by the mighty chicken gods? *points at sig*

Sorry for that last remark. I just couldn't resist the urge.

I ussually don't listen to queen. I mostly listen to Rachmaninov, Elgar and Wagner.

I usually don't listen to Queen much either. Mostly AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Van Halen.

So that's why you haven't been on IM lately.......Welcome back to you too Ben! And I've always wanted to learn Gaelic, but I can't find any lessons on it where I live. What type of Gaelic did you learn(there are six variations, all similar, but different)?

What do you mean "Ewwwwww?"

Considering AC/DC has sold over 19 BILLION albums and most of their albums (if not all) have gone platinum (Back in Black went something like 21x platinum recently, I think), that Def Leppard's song "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is one of the most recognized songs ever and they can play just as good with a one-armed drummer, and that Eddie Van Halen was one of the greatest guitar players ever, qualifies all three to be considered "good bands." Tell me, what "great music" do you listen to?

I'm with Eldibs here. ACDC may not be my favourite band but they do have their moments and are very popular. As to the other two, they're awesome, I mean, have you ever been to a party and someone puts on jump? That song is a classic drunk song. Classic rock is better than most rock of today, and is certainly better than the other genres of today. Queen is certainly a good band as well, but the state of Freddy Mercurys head. I mean, I'm sorry the guys dead and all but jeez...

I have heard a good myth:

In a british high school, the last test in philosophy was coming up. All the students were being nervous for it and studied hard. At the day of the test, the teacher put a chair on top of his desk and said, "Use everything you have learnt to prove that this chair does not exist". The students started writing pages after pages but one student only wrote one line and went. When the results came, he had the best score of the class. He had written, "What chair?"

Belive and it will be true. Science is like that. You come up with a theory, test it and confirm it is true. If a scientist or more says something is true, It is true.

We humans are so much more manipulateable than we want to belive. Adolf Hitler's success, Stalin and the wave is proof of that. But what if all that is false? Hmm...

--------------------
So, as the great Groxy, I have come back to be served by goblins. In the "main hall" of the goblin cave was a large totem which resembled very much of... me.

That story lacks verisimilitude. Philosophy exams rarely ask the student to prove anything in particular; instead they ask for a discussion of a question.

Some real questions are equally wacky, though. One of my favourites is, "If unicorns don't exist, how can they have one horn?"

They can't. But since they can also not have two horns, or three horns, or any other amount of horns, the answer must be one.
