I put punk. That was the closest thing, I'd say. "Underground bands" could also describe, but some people have differing definitions.

I listen to the wide varieties of punk, pop-punk, emo, and underground rock.

Well, I answered "Pop," but keep in mind that I rarely listen to a damn thing made after '79. I am a classic pop/rock fan, but I have a soft spot for progressive rock as well.

In terms of my favorite artists:
The Beatles; John Lennon; George Harrison; Paul McCartney; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Traffic; The Kinks; Steely Dan; Chicago; The Zombies; Argent; King Crimson; Gentle Giant; The Beach Boys; Cream; Blind Faith; Derek And The Dominos; The Hollies; The Byrds; Jefferson Airplane; Simon & Garfunkel; Procol Harum; Soft Machine; and Marvin Gaye.

There are others, but they're all marginal so I opted to leave them unlisted.

I like a lot of music.

I like rock, I like classic rock (similar to Stug), but I guess techno is my favorite.

You left out Classical; that is what I listen to most of the time, if I listen to music at all (while I draw, script…). From time to time I listen to Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, or other music of that nature.

Rock. Think "The Strokes" for what's nearest to what I dig most for the time being.

I listen to classic rock (also similar to stug) and I also listen to some newer rock and some old pop is good, although the new pop is just really annoying. Favourite bands would be -
Queen
Led Zepplin
Deep Purple
Metallica
Powerman 5000
Presidents of the USA
Pink Floyd
Poison
Beatles

Thats pretty much all I can rememeber.
Favourite song would have to be total eclipse of the heart by bonnie tyler. That song is the ultimate drunk song.

EDIT: Forgot to include Beatles. I'll put that in now.

Classical, by which I mean the occasional Renaissance piece, a great deal of Baroque and Classical, and some Romantic.

Mostly rock. Some punk and pop too, though.

I listen to a little of everything, including, by themselves and in various combinations, and in no particular order:

Rock
Rock And Roll
Hard Rock
R&B (the good kind, not the hip-hop crap they call R&B these days)
Punk
Emo
Pop (no modern pop though, ugh)
Hip Hop (pretty much just Gym Class Heroes, an Emo/Hip-Hop band, and a little of Eminem's stuff is bearable, but none of the early 90s crap like Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer, ugh)
Grindcore
Metal
Disco
Classical

Ah yes, it's been a while since this topic sprang up. Alternative rock all the way, as usual. Preferably with Dave Matthews Band and Fastball out in front. Among others, Hot Hot Heat, Jet, Straylight Run, Smash Mouth, and The Killers.

Favorite song: "Human Torch" by Fastball

Come on, MC Hammer "can't touch this" is pretty much the only hip hop I like/find funny.
That is, unless we're including Faith No More, which is pretty much Funk rap. Or funk rock. One of the two.

Yes, rock is popular. However, I am surprised that so many people consider classical music their favourite musicstyle. I mean, I also listen to classical music, and my favourite piece is the Troisième Gymnopédie by Eric Satir(Anyone else ever hear about this guy? No? Didn't think so.) But Hard Rock is my main focus in life.

Oh, and how does "Rock" differ from "Rock and Roll"?

Mmm, good point there. But seriously. I don't see any difference.

I like classicalmost, but it's not on the list (?). I picked rock, because I like hard rock and the likes. Some of my fav. artists are: Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Stratovarius, Falconer and Motorhead.

S'gotta be:

Classical
Sinatra
Bennett
Martin
Davis (Jr)

Music that was never meant to be "cranked" or "blasted", but actually enjoyed and listened to critically and lovingly.

I voted "Alternative Rock". But really, none of the labels fitted...

My lists of bands/artists include...

Radiohead
The Smiths
Morrissey
Muse
Pamela Wyn Shannon
The Beatles
Queen
Blur
The Killers
The Jam
Madness
Massive Attack

...and two local bands "Scream Culture" and "Better than Fishing". "Scream Culture is the better of the two, and has a hot front woman...

EDIT: Added "The Jam" and "Madness"

I always thought I'd find more screamo people here. That is, until I got to know people. Then the "classical" genre seemed to me to be the most widespread.

Speaking of local bands, Shrimp Shack Sunrise (ska) plays tonight... And Sullivan (emo, and a personal favorite) plays Wednesday.

I only advertise SSS because all the members are personal friends. I don't like ska, but whatyagunnado?

My favorite kind of music is baroque: Domenico Scarlatti (who wrote 555 fantastic little sonatas for the harpsichord), J.S. Bach (especially the Brandenburg Concertos), and Handel (harp concertos, The Messiah, Water Music, etc.).

I also like Celtic harp music, especially as played by Laurie Riley, but any kind of traditional Celtic music is also nice, even bagpipes. I also like some of the newer stuff that uses Celtic themes as a starting point.

I used to listen to the Beatles a lot, but not so much any more.

Enya is one of the few contemporary artists I enjoy.

I also like Terry Riley and Philip Glass (whatever the heck they're classified as!). Riley's In C is one of the greatest pieces of music ever created. Glass' soundtracks to Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi are his best.

Wendy (aka Walter) Carlos is another—she does synthesized classical, but also very unusual original compositions (Tales of Heaven and Hell). I have her to thank for introducing me to Scarlatti, Bach, etc., when I was 6 years old or so as my dad listened to his old hi-fi records.
