School Rumble, Azumanga Diaoh and Naruto are my favourites. Most animes are fine, though.

Cowboy Beebop is also fun. The old Robotech series, though a bit dated, is also pretty cool - it's what got me into anime to begin with.

The granddaddy of them all, though, is Akira.

Some things that I didn't see mentioned: Full Metal Alchemist, FLCL, Samurai Champloo, Air. All well worth watching.

And whoever said there isn't bad stuff, you are so wrong.

(Interesting fact- "Champloo" is Okinawa slang for a musical remix.)

Isn't FLCL that Anime about a kid who is out on a date with his girl when some woman comes on a motorbike and hits him with an electric-guitar? And then a big robot grows out of his brain? If it is that one I can tell you it is the oddest anime I ever seen. But it does not mean it was a bad anime.

FLCL stands for Furi Kuri... which is a typical example of engrish.

Bad onomatopoeia, maybe, but not precisely Engrish...

Yes it is. F is written as Fu, C is written as Ku and L is written as Ru. It's because Japanese do not have stand-alone consonants except from N'. L is missing in the japanese language and japanese people can hardly hear the difference between the L and the R. Therefore the L has been replaced with R.

I've seen Cowboy Bebop once. Really good stuff. Also seen a few episodes of Robotech the Macross Saga (I think that's what it's called). That was cool too. I've never seen Akira, but from what I've heard, I probably should.

Yes, but it's only "Engrish" if it was meant to represent English in the first place. There are several different stories about the origin of the title of the series, and one of them is that it's simply meant to represent a certain sound.

To be precise, it's the sound of breasteses being groped.

(Which goes a ways to explain that manga-esque scene from the first episode.)

Hm, well. I generally like mecha anime, and will at least watch most of it. (and VWM, I enjoyed Gundam Wing a lot, so shame on you :P )

For non-mecha stuff, I have to say that Gantz was pretty darn good. Maze and Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan are at least amusing.

Oh, and I liked Angelic Layer and Saiyuki, when I saw them.

Yeah, that should probably cover my tastes in anime.
