Bah, grunge is your soulmate, then.

Actually, I don't mind emo; I really don't see why people bash it so much. I've even come grudgingly to like Jimmy Eat World, although I haven't bought their album. If you want to crucify someone for whining go after the "Dad, why didn't you love me?" crowd (Linkin Park, Staind), or the "Stupid government/parents/corporations always telling me what to do" cohort (Antiflag et al, even Greenday of late), or System of a Down, which combines the two. In my music, I always prefer abstract angst to trite family drama or stupid politics.

Pretty Much the same here, do I do have a few Countries and Pop etc. But a lot of the time I just listen to movie soundtracks. LoTR, PotC:CotBP, HP, etc.
- Archmagi Micael

I know what you mean, i can't stop listening to soundracks at the moment! I'm currently hooked on Phantom of the opea, moulin rouge, lotr and romeo and juliet sountracks for now. My friend has also taken a fascination with opera and tagged me along for the ride, and i've taken a liking to listening to Carmen as well as a few others.

Also anyone who hasn't heard Mad World by Gary Jules is surely missing out.

No R&B/Soul option? Shame on you.

I listen mainly to hip-hop, rap, and R&B, with a little reggaeton thrown in.

My favorite artists are probably Biggie, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, TI, Kanye, Tamia, and pretty much anything that sounds good.

I'm currently listening to Wagner's Ring cycle in its entirety whilst committing acts of self-abuse. (Come to think of it, I suppose the former already implies the latter.)

The All Your Base flash movie, and the LotR Movie Soundtrack (only good thing about the movie, but that's a different argument)

That is all I ever listen to if I can avoid it.

I really enjoy the soundtrack to the movie 'Hook'. I'm probably biased though because I learned the music in my symphony orchestra. I usually group orchestral soundtracks in with classical music in my own mind, probably because it's played pretty much the same way. Mr. Holland's Opus and ET are good soundtracks too. I haven't listened to the LotR soundtrack seperate from watching the movie. I think I'd have to inorder to appreciate it fully. 'Bout time I got out the movie and watched it again, too. :)

Beck. Belle and Sebastian. Big Black. Broken Social Scene. Dismemberment Plan. Dizzy Gillespie. DJ Shadow. Fugazi. Gang of Four. Glenn branca. Interpol. John Coltrane. John Zorn. Joy Division. Liars. Miles Davis. Minutemen. Mission of Burma. Morphine. Ornette Coleman. Pavement. Pixies. Portishead. Rolling Stones. Santana. Sleater-Kinney. Slint. Sonic Youth. Stereolab. Talk Talk. Talking Heads. The Beta Band. The Clash. The Fall. The Fiery Furnaces. The Undertones. The Velvet Underground. Tom Waits. Wilco. Wire. Xiu Xiu. White Stripes.

To be brief.

On the Chris Cornell debate - yawn. Cornell's voice is accomplished, sure, but it's deathly dull. At least Cobain sang with conviction.

:) Slint is good stuff, and also hail from my hometown of Louisville, KY. I remember hearing them live back when I was in middle school.

EDIT: In fact, owing to the memory you helped conjur, Morgan, I just went to Amazon and purchased the "Spiderland" CD (back in the day, I had the album on a bootleg cassette, which has long since worn away).

I know. My polls always seem to be lacking, especially in the 'Favorite Author' poll.

Now that I think of it, the bands I named before were the bands/singers I have on my MP3 player. I also like Sum41, but because my CD's of them are burnt, I can't convert them to .MP3.

Wow...long time, no post.

My top three favorites are Metallica, The Doors, and the Beatles. Others I like include Queen, Tenacious D, Powerman 5000, Nirvana, Sarah Brightman...I also like some classical/orchestral (Gustav Holst, John Williams, many more).

I voted for "Other", and "Alternative". Whatever Depeche Mode can be defined as, it wasn't on the list. My favourite bands right now are Depeche Mode, Yaz (Yazoo if you're outside North America), and The Smiths. That's not to say I don't like music by any other bands, though. Those three are just the ones I'm most obsessed with (and particularly Depeche Mode and Yaz).

If Hitler were alive today, he'd listen to The Cure, The Smiths, and Depeche Mode.

Pink Floyd
Amon Amarth

People says Microsoft paid 14 million dollars for using the Rolling Stones song "Start me up" in their commercials. This is wrong. Microsoft paid 14 million dollars only for a part of the song. For instance, they didn't use the line "You'll make a grown man cry".

Depeche Mode...are they the band that sing 'Personal Jesus'? I'm pretty sure they are.

LlamaGod, your music preferences have a pretty wide gap, no offence. Rock, Heavy Metal, to Opera. I havn't heard much Opera in my time, so I'm not sure wether is is good or not. I have heard a bit of Michael Buble, but I'm not sure wether or not he classifies as opera.

I have Quadrophenia, Tommy and Thick as a Brick on my playlist as-is.

I don't really by music much as well. The last decent album I purchased was Songs For The Deaf by Queens Of The Stone Age. I will also some-day soon buy their new album, Lullabies To Paralyze.

I don't have much money, so I don't usually buy albums. Once I do have the money I probably will though. The last CD I purchased was Famous Last Words' "Everything You Wanted But Could Never Have" EP, which was $5. The next CD purchases I hope to make are the Final Fantasy VII OST, The Beatles Revolver album, and The Darkness's album, Maximum Darkness: The Unauthorized Biography Of The Darkness. Maybe something from ELO too.

I haven't bought a CD in some time. They cost $20 and most of the time I only like about a third of the songs. With MP3s being so accessible these days it's just easier to download music.
