I use MSN because it is what my pals from little school use. But let's keep that a secret. MSN is not cool. I also refuse to converse with anybody who spells someone 'sum1', not to mention ever 'eva'. -------------------- fame fame fatal fame it can play hideous tricks on the brain Posts: 407 | Registered: Friday, May 14 2004 07:00 |

I only go on AIM when I'm lonely to talk to my dad or aunt. I'm not allowed to talk with strangers on it. Not completely. Although I do know that Spiderwebbers aren't the only ones to use Room 3, thanks to UA. They were talking about MSN messenger, Ben. The chat client, not the website that's about as much fun as stabbing yourself in the face. -------------------- Voice of Reasonable Morality Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

Stabbing one's self in the face is not conducive to living. I personally don't dig IM - it is an indirect method of communication at best, and distracts from accomplishing anything else while it's on, due to the interruptions. Viva la cellphone. I'm not a big fan of mobiles. I don't particularly care for being contacted on the move, attempting to type a text message of a reasonable length is not comfortable for your fingers (and I don't have the patience or inclination to learn how to use predictive text) and it's not as easy to ignore people as it is on an IM. I do have a mobile, since it's difficult to be a British teenager and not possess one. Nevertheless, the purchase of it was not my choice, I picked the cheapest model on sale and use it sparingly (mostly as an alarm clock and when I miss the last cheap bus.) I'd complain about the cost, but I have no idea of the average mobile to mobile tariff these days and I've only ever bought £10 of credit on it anyway (I've spent the past year and a bit working my way through £30 stuck on by my parents when they wished to use it abroad, before discovering it wasn't compatible. I think I'm down to about £22 now.) -------------------- Voice of Reasonable Morality Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

I was a bit tongue-in-cheek with my remark, to be certain, but I would say that mobiles have made several aspects of life much easier, including finding people when you're out, getting help when you're lost, and getting help during an emergency. Also, there's the fact that you can take your mobile (number and all) with you when you move, saving the trouble of setting up a new service or informing everyone of your new contact information. And you can ignore calls as easily as IMs, thanks to caller ID. Things I don't like: mobiles ringing during movies/restaurants/wherever, flakiness through plans constantly being made at the last minute ("I'll just give them a call, they won't mind..."), sometimes shoddy connections, diminished battery life. Still, it seems a pretty good thing, to me. If I recollect correctly, prepay phones in the UK don't even charge minutes for incoming calls (which is not the case in the US), which would really make your pound go far, I imagine. BtI-Okay, I see now. Yes, I do have MSN Messenger, but I don't use it. To me, it's just another annoying icon in the system tray that I can right click and select "Exit." Which is what I do when I'm not on the Internet. So. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

quote:Even though you exit it, it'll still run in the background and open up every time you use Outlook. I do not use MSN for that very reason...if I want a program to be off, I want it to be off if it has an exit button and I expect it to stop working when I click that exit button. That and MSN isn't as popular as AIM so I went and uninstalled it. [ Thursday, September 09, 2004 16:34: Message edited by: RC ] -------------------- Austrian Alex - Reality Corp. My AIM list appears to include ADoS, Drakefyre, Alec, Morgan, Imban, and a couple others I know belong to these boards, but cannot connect AIM sceen names to Spidweb Screen names. I believe this list came entirely from my time spent in the Arena. I am Apocalyptic Alex, by the way, for any who are bored, as I am this particular moment. -------------------- Take the Personality Test!
