Hi all. I am new to the world of RPGs. I am currently playing Geneforge and am really enjoying it. Can any of you recommend more games that I might like? I have slow reflexes, so I am trying to stay away from real-time games. Thanks in advance!

Exile 1, 2, and 3.
Blades of Exile
Avernum 1, 2, and 3.
Blades of Avernum, when it comes out.

Or if you really like Geneforge, you could try Geneforge 2. I thought it was a pretty good sequel.

<Looks oddly at Alorael, unsure if he left out GF2 by accident or on purpose>

Not RPGs as such, but roguelike games, such as Nethack , ADOM and Angband might be what you are looking for, deep down.

Try Disciples 2 or 1. They are good.

I am surprised nobody has recommended Fallout and Fallout 2 yet. I am also surprised that Alec and TM have not posted on this thread yet. I suspect these two facts have something in common.

Don't neglect to mention Nethergate, Alorael. It's the best SW game of them all.

And Zelda Classic is a custom quest driven game that, in my opinion, rivals BoE.

Fallout and Fallout 2 is some of the most famous RPGs of all time, you wander around in a post apocalyptic wasteland, hunting vermin, screwin hookers (and various other persons), taking drugs, and listening to the largest quanity of the F-word ever in a game. One of mine (And many others) favorite games.

Yeah, Aleshar: World of Ice is every RP-gamers dream.
"Combine the elements and feel your heart bursting into pieces!"
"Try to figure out if the little dot beating the hell out of you is a goblin or a wraith!"
"Get lost in the snowstorm for the 234th time and curse the creators of the wicked sextant!"
"Slaughter the evil cultists one-handed and then get killed by a miserable goblin!"
"Boldly walk across the snowy stepps. And walk. And walk. And hey, walk a little more!"

How can you not love it?

If you're looking for non-computer games, try "Traveller" - the classic version (www.farfuture.net is the publisher) is the easiest, but the D20 version (www.travellerrpg.com) is the newest and uses the D20 system.

Can't really recommend any computer games, though.

I have recently discovered a rather nice MMORPG called "Ashen Empires" which has proven somewhat addictive, even if it still is in beta-testing phase. Ohhh and Fallout Forever!!!!!

games like fallout are very good indeed, but trailblazer said that he'll only play non-realtime rpgs.
if you like geneforge, you'll love avernum.
i recommend that you buy the completely trilogy as a package. the best three games ever for only 55 bucks.

IMHO, the Fallout games are the most similar RPGs to Geneforge - it has great interactivity in the game world, multiple endings, the same sort of Realtime movement/turn based combat, a similar sort of wilderness travel mode, and so on. Multiple characters are not handled as well, IMHO, and there are no spells or real factions, but character development of your hero is very well done. The game flavour is also somewhat different.

Well worth giving a try.

I would like to thank you guys for all of your suggestions! This will certainly keep me busy. ;-)

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming. I'd be lucky if I were 1/10 of the way through Geneforge, but I still want to know what's out there...

Stay warm!

P.S. I'm definitely going to check out the Spiderweb games first. Gotta be loyal, right?
