Party Imbalance (A2-Lvls) in The Avernum Trilogy

I created a 2 character party with a mix of advantages. The problem is one of my characters has something like an 80% xp penalty and the other has a 50% one.

Unfortunately it's gotten to the point where the level difference makes playing the game difficult. Fighter is at level 9 while Mage/Priest is at level 16.

Any ideas for evening them out? Will the XP gain eventually get lower as her level increases?

As is the game is becoming increasingly difficult to play, I'm into Chapter 3 and just took care of Elderan's tower. My fighter would die every major battle if I didn't buff both characters up considerably. And even then with repeated Beast Ceremony/shields/haste it was extraordinarily difficult.

So I've been playing through as a two character party, and am getting my butt handed to me on a nice avernite platter.

I remember in previous games (A3, Nethergate etc.) a singleton's power grew exponentially. Slow at first, but then continually faster until the end of the game you had a /really/ good character.

The logic of this seems simple: More party == more ways to divide xp.

Did A2 NOT divide xp amongst party members? Or am I just not doing enough of the side quests?

Best (and Worst) Movies of the Year in General

Don't have time to really think it through, but one of the best movies in the last year was definitely Stranger than Fiction.

It my be my literary geekiness or my love of framed stories, but it was superb.

Funny, I think for all types. I saw it with a group of about 5-6 other college students and all but one of us loved it.

Plenty of humour, "smart" and otherwise.

For the record I loved Nethergate to death. I really think it has been their best game. The historical elements really clicked. Furthermore it was their first shift to the new engine.

Singleton Level? in Blades of Avernum

Hey I played BoA a few years ago and I want to pick it back up again. Problem being I'm in college and don't have the time to play through all the base scenarios to get my level up to what it should be (before I play one of the other 3rd party scenarios) so any of you who've played singletons what was your level after completing all the standard scenarios?

Note: I was planning to use Artifact Hall and HLPM

And by complete I mean all of them + Za-Khazi twice.
For the loot run.

Any responses appreciated, this board doesn't look as active as it used to be.

No level select screen as in the previous version.
Upon entering scenario:

partymaker error: Unknown command clear_buffer in line 56

Crossing XP runes:
t0Party Build error: Unknown command clear_buffer in line 684

None of the shops work, nor do the runes. Arena is inoperative.

Downloaded both zip and sit formats...

Anything else you need?

Now this may have been mentioned before, but when I use any spell or item to haste myself, and then use the AutoCombat feature, the program still acts as though I had 4 AP. Yes my PC will move, but if I'm surrounded by enemies, the character will make one attack and 2 AP (usually) left over, enough for another attack that is never taken.

Another AutoCombat failure, it ignores and APs "stored" via the wait button. Upon entering AutoCombat, my foes recieve a turn and then I recieve a turn, despite the fact that I have 12 AP's "stored."

Yeah. Oh well. Don't think it matters o'er much anymore. I'm through the scenario a second time. I was afraid my singleton might not be up to Za-Khazi run, but after going through ASR, I gained a grand total of one level. Heh.

Thanks anyway!

In the locked room behind canizaries shopt in SR, there is a chest. Once I got a brass key out of the one on the left but now I can't... I don't know why! I checked the .txt files and it said something to the effect of must have tool use>12. I pumped it up to the mid 70's via editor and still nothing. Any help?

How is the rank on the main screen for your different PC's done? I checked the Docs... Nothing.

Right now I just completed VoDT, with everyone at level 11.
Fighters Rank: Warrior
Priest: Aspirant
Mage: Evoker

Thoughts?

Ye Gods say it isn't so.

Downloaded BoA on Dial-up. Took aproximately 4-5 hours... And the archive/vise installer won't expand.

Total size is 13.6 megs. Throwing Error -39.
"Logical End of File reached during Read operation"

Anyway to fix? Downloading it again... Uggh.
