What are your files named? In the BoA editor, you have to go into the "town" menu and select "town details." There, where it says "Town Script," pick a filename. Create a file by that name. Create another file by that name, and add "dlg" to the end. Then, make a Town Script in the first file (see the docs). After that, put your modified dialog stuff in the file with "dlg" on the end. Not that it is not ".dlg" but just "dlg" (it is still a .txt file). Hope this helped! Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

Yeah, I learned C well before I learned BASIC, and I do believe that BASIC's syntax is positively awful. Everything in C is just so ... intuitive. Great language, that C. Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

I would like to see, well, not really calls, but just be able to define more stuff in custom objects scripts. I wish weapons and missile weapons could call scenario state when you attack with them. I also wish you could define custom fields and make custom sparkles and missile animations. That would allow designers to make much cooler items in their scenarios. EDIT: Custom PC graphics would be dandy as well. [ Sunday, July 04, 2004 19:25: Message edited by: Prophet_of_Doom ] Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

You should call it "The Kelandomain," because that would rule. EDIT: I just realized that "The Kelandominion" would be even better. [ Sunday, July 04, 2004 19:01: Message edited by: Prophet_of_Doom ] Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

For a good SF read, try anything by William Gibson, Neuromancer in particular is good, also any of his short story collections. My favorite book of all time is Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace. I cannot stress how incredibly good it is. Read it. Don't read his other books, though. They do not compare. If you can make it past the first couple chapters, you won't be able to put it down. I can't really say what genre it is, but it certainly isn't SF/F. Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

All right, here we go: Juwan the Slith warrior, no traits. Lots of Str, Dex, Blademaster, Quick Action, Pole Weap, Defense, and Assassination. He just, well, kills stuff. Occasionally does around 250 damage when blessed. Josh (My cat's name) the Nephil Archer, no traits Lots of Dex, Bows, actually more strength than Juwan, some parry, some melee, lots of tool use (about 20). Usually does between 100 and 150 a pop with a blessed crossbow and Iron bolts. Rayneesha the Priest, no traits. Priest Spells, INT, Magery, and Magical Efficiency are pretty much the only skills I bother with. Creepy the Mage, Natural Mage. Pretty much the same, only with Mage Spells. Oh, and he has Morog's sceptre. An interesting byproduct of giving my spell casters Magical Efficiency is that they have a lot more endurance, and therefore health, than my fighters. It's weird to see my archer with around 135, while my priest has, like, 220. Oh, and, all the times I've tried to play without an archer, I've regretted it. It's easy to get them a lot of tool use and keeping them effective in combat. So, when I opt for the second fighter instead, no one can pick locks, and it stinks. I'm trying to make a sequence where the party will have to guide another group somewhere, and I have no idea which calls might be useful for that. Don't kill yourself looking for a solution, but off the top of your head, how might you create an outdoor group that would follow the party step for step? On a somewhat related tack, I would like the editor to have a mini-map with a square representing the selection currently being edited. That way, I could click right where I want to go. Or else just make it so you could choose where you zoom back in from the zoomed-out mode, because I hate scrolling around looking for stuff. Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

About that Null Bug battle, I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but when I ran across those null bugs I didn't even leave town mode. My Slith Soldier killed them in one hit. Of course, maybe that's cause I stole an iron pike from Marralis (They don't mind if you take everything in their storeroom), or else because I ran around doing side quests (including the Vale Infestation, which is actually quite challenging if you go there right away), so I was a pretty good level by then. Leave the town, go South in your boat, and then land on the first land you see to the West. Go North, and you can enter by land. Now for my grievance with this torture of a scenario. I'm in Khoth's palace, and it's making me want to cry. Help. In detail. Please. I'm begging you!! Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

Uh... I response to RH's question, you can't disarm that kind. The mine in the commander's office just goes off when you get in there. Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

Well... If you weren't goin to have anything on the space directly above the space where you wanted to put the graphic, you could put a two-part terrain there, leave the bottom blank, and then use the upper part to make the upper third of the other graphic. If you made it so the party could wak through it, it would be pretty much like one terrain. If that didn't make sense, sorry. Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |

I would like that a lot. I understand AvernumScript well enough to implement dialog and such things, plus I am a competent typist, so you needn't worry about your story getting messed up by my typos. I haven't used it yet, but I've gone over the docs pretty thoroughly on a mac that's not mine, and I am familiar with C, of which it is basically an easier version (IMO). One little hitch: I'm a windows user, and I lack the software to convert PICTs to .bmp's (I think) Drop me a line if you're interested at Adam_The_Prophet@hotmail.com[/url] [ Saturday, May 29, 2004 15:20: Message edited by: Prophet_of_Doom ] Posts: 293 | Registered: Saturday, May 29 2004 07:00 |
