Exile was my first Spiderweb game. I found it on a CD that contained hundreds of other games and game demos(I think it was called Galaxy of Games, or something). A couple of years later, I visited Spiderweb Software's website and downloaded demos for Exile 2 and 3. The first game I actually bought was Blades of Exile. I also own Avernum and Blades of Avernum, and have demos for Avernum 2 and 3. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

Natural Mage's SP-restoring ability recovers half your character's total SP, if I'm not mistaken. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

I loved Khassper's name. I also like Machrone. He's the only NPC(to my knowledge) that has been carried over to multiple scenarios. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

Well, I restored all three games, and now they work. Go figure. Anyway, Start Menu is back to normal, sort of. It is still lower than it should be, but nothing is cut off. I'll remember that uninstallation thing. Should of known better. Thank you to all that responded. Up and down arrow isn't appearing. No Exile game open either. EDIT:I have WindowsXP, if that makes any difference. For some reason, none of the game's in the Exile trilogy were working on my computer, so I deleted them. Now, my Start Menu ends below my screen, and the last row is "cut off." This happened immediatly after I deleted Exile III, so I assume that had something to do with it. I am pretty computer inept, so if anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. EDIT:I forgot, I re-downloaded Exile but for some reason it wouldn't install. Now I can't delete it. A message comes up saying that it's being used by another program, even though I deleted everything else that came with it. It's not a *bad* idea, I just don't like being forced to play a party dictated by the scenario. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

Yeah, but I go by the "Code for Adventurers Who Suck At Adventuring." It goes something like this: RULE ONE:Fight only after you've exhausted all other options. RULE TWO:Do whatever it takes to avoid difficult combat, even if that means using the cheap enter/exit battle cheat just outside the room with the statues in the Za-Khazi Run. RULE THREE:Don't be afraid to take your 20 level party fresh out of the Za-Khazi Run and into, say, A Perfect Forest. I just downloaded A Perfect Forest, and copied it into the Blades of Avernum Scenarios folder. However, it isn't showing up on the list of scenarios. I just checked the manual, and did everything it said to do. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT:Nevermind, I figured it out. Thanks. I thought I had searched everywhere for hidden passages, don't know how I missed that one. As for the time limit, I'm only worried because I remember playing BoE's ZKR and *barely* making it's 21 day time limit. My heart sank when I realized it had been shortened to 2 weeks for BoA. I know I can use the editor to change the day, but I'd really rather not. Overuse of BoE's editor lessened the experience for me, in a way. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

My lockpick skill was too low to open the first locked door in the Blood Glee Clan, so I'm forced to tackle the Dark Maze. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get past the Chasm of Fire. I've searched everywhere for hidden passages, even tried wading east through the flames until the game stopped me, but I can't get to the other side. The hint book that I just received in the mail today doesn't have a solution to this particular tough spot. Also, it's already Day 4, and I'm a fairly slow player. Do you think I'll be able to finish the run before the time limit is up? -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

Thanks. I'll look for the secret passage today. I knew there had to be an easier way of getting to Stalker that didn't involve crossing the courtyard. EDIT:Found the secret passage and the rest of the scenario went smoothly. Fight with Stalker was easy compared to trying to sludge way through legions of elites. I'm inside Stalker's Fortress, in the building you end up in right after you enter the portal in the destroyed magic lab. There are two ways out, but no matter which I choose my party is completely decimated within a few rounds. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would prefer not having to resort to the character editor. Here is my party: PC 1:Zander Health:112, Spell Energy:N/A This is my frontline warrior/tank. The Elite Guards can take him out in as little as two hits, though. Carries assorted magic items including Wand of Slowing, Wand of Acid, Wand of Lightning, and Wand of Fire. PC 2:Vastin Health:95, Spell Energy:N/A A fighter/rogue. Not as powerful as Zander but usually is at the front as support. Carries some wands and scrolls, and is equipped with a bow. PC 3:Cordelia Health:73, Spell Energy:60 My cleric/healer character. Knows priest spells up to Summon Shade, and also Radiant Shield. PC 4:Alazaar Health:70, Spell Energy:57 Offensive spell caster. Knows mage spells up to Lightning Spray. Zander and Alazaar are Level 17. Cordelia and Vastin are Level 18. Is that too low for where I am at? Or do I simply have to modify my strategy? I'm playing on the Normal difficulty level, if that matters. -------------------- "The Fate of Norns awaits us all." -Amon Amarth Posts: 24 | Registered: Thursday, April 15 2004 07:00 |

None of the outdoor signs in Valley of Dying Things work. I have the unregistered version of Blades of Avernum. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, is there an update I can download to take care of it?
