This is a WEIRD bug. I am currently working on a scenario, as well as play through Bassikava (great scen. btw ^_^). I just went through a bunch of cinematic bug testings, and got tired of it. I then went back to playing in the scenario with my group of adventurers. I then just realised that I has turned the vision variable to 1 (set_total_visibility(1)). I realised this because now, in Bassikava, I can see everything!!! It turns out that when you turn this variable on, it turns it on for the entire game until turned off. This is, imho, a nasty little bug. Anyone would turn it on in a dump scenario, and then go into another--no walls, no secrets. lol More of a cheat, sure, but it is still a bug  . Quitting the game resets this, as I have found out. EDIT: Hmm..it just occured to me. Is this listed in any of the warnings in the documentation? Or perhaps already been listed as a bug? (Just remembered you didn't list them all here...) Sorry if it is in either case ^_^'. All you need say is "AP Tests" and I will TOTALLY understand. 2 weeks from now aren't they? I don't know aymore, since I Graduated last year. I hated every one of them -_-'. (I did the Computer Programming AP Test...which turned out to be one of the hardest in the school since they just released the new edition for the first time ON US....lol) quote:What is Alint? Never heard of it...now I feel stupid  . As for BBEdit Lite, I used it for a while and then realised that I had been missing out on a great program. I went out and got the Pro edition the followinig hour ^_^. Now...repeating my question ;) : Does anyone know if someone has made a BBEdit Language Plugin for AvScript? It would be very conveniant...not to mention allow us to debug our scripts w/o requireing BoA to do it on the fly. I tried to say that I understand someone (now I know who) was working on a new editor, but I obviously didn't get across that it isn't much use to any of us until they can release it. This plugin would at least HELP...any ideas if there was ever one made? Thanks ^_^. -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Uhh...around the forums somewhere?? I heard that someone (I think it was Kel...no idea if it truly is..sorry Kel  ) was designing an entirely new Editor program with all kinds of super improvments over the current one. Was that somehow classified as a top secret project soon after I saw the post or something?? ^_^ [ Wednesday, April 20, 2005 10:00: Message edited by: SpineRaker ] -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Well, I recently got myself a full copy of BBEdit. (Worth it!!) I just realised that it has a built in Lanuage Display (for a lack of a better term :S). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has ever thought of making a Language Plugin for BBEdit, based on AvScript?? I have heard of a few people trying various off shoots of this idea, and I think one of you out there (Kel??) is even making a Super Editor--which I am currently hopeing has a built in text editor based from the language (though, hope springs eternal eh?). I'd just like to know if anyone has actually released such a plug--it would be interesting to see it, and might help a lot of us ^_^. Just a thought ;) . -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Posts: 40 | Registered: Saturday, January 24 2004 08:00 |

While working on my scenario, I decided to make some makor tweaks in the script; I'd been working on terain for so long, I needed something different. When I finished and loaded it, I got a Major Error. Well...I fixed it. It turns out that the Editor DOES NOT LIKE SMART QUOTES!! I am not aware of this being a warning anywhere in the documents, so I am just throwing this kind thing out there...took my a good 20 minutes to find out this "illegal character" the dang thing was screaming about. I use Tex-Edit Pro (OS 9 text editor with REALLY cool features, and it's free!!!! ^_^). This program lets you choose to use Smart or Stupid quotes--turns out I need to set it to stupid if I am going to be using it to code with...bleh. Just a kind announcement. ;) -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Posts: 40 | Registered: Saturday, January 24 2004 08:00 |

I am attempting to import the Vampire Lord's Keep (from Diplomacy with the Dead; town #7) into my scenario. I like the way it looks, and it gives me the basic form I need for this new area I'm building. (Ya..I'm kind of cheating by using it, but it will be changed from what it is.) My problem is that when I use the Import Town command, it imports this hoplessly GARBLED town thing...there is NO town in this imported garbage thing. It is pieces of the original, randomly strewn about the town layout, and thrown into only the area of a medium sized town. This is a Large town, and I am importing it into a Large (blank) town in my new scenario. Is this a bug?! I would really think this is a nasty little bug if it is--but please tell me if it isn't, as I need to start trying out different ways of making this actually work. I have so far only duplicated the entire scenario, taken everything but terrain out of the Keep, and then imported that; same thing happens. I use OS 9.2.2, and below describes this a bit better. (Pictures!! :D ) This is what it looks like in "DwtD": This is what it looks like after I import it: Help is wanted, and apreciated! ^_^ -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." **slaps on the cool shades of clueless** lol. I was just asking...lol. I try to keep up-to-date as much as possible :D . I hadn't noticed any of this myself. As for the alien beast killing without entering battle mode, I thought that was an improvement over Exile...I didn't realise it was an unbalance issue...lol. heh. Well, I dont want to be a nagging person or anything, but I've recently decided I might either have a problem, or be TOTALLY impatient...either way, I'll just ask this once and be happy either way :D I submitted my tester form in jan. and recieved the NDA. I then sent that NDA back to jeff, signed and all. Problem is that I still am not testing :| . Did I do something wrong? Or does Jeff send the NDA and THEN pick who he wants? If he picks after you submit, I understand why nothing has happened :D . I just thought I'd ask so I don't have to keep hounding the inbox every other day lol. (...though I still will if its a "be more patient" thing...) Then again...the thought occurs to me that beta might not even be ready for tester teams yet...but I keep hearing people act like they test it constantly, so I am lead to believe that it is indeed being tested. Hmm..well, anyway, just thought I'd ask... Hope I'm not ticking Jeff off by asking this...lol. Just thought this is the most relevant point to post it ;) -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Posts: 40 | Registered: Saturday, January 24 2004 08:00 |

hehe. A pet would rock. I've always wanted to have my very own legion of undead spawn to take over various sectors of the world! :D . The idea comes to mind that having a Dark Wyrm as a pet would guarantee a safe house :D I'd use one just to guard my little fortress in the forest ;) And the idea of actually making a Xian Skull is punishable by anhilation  . That evil creation was a freakin pest, and I was dumb enough to keep it with me until mid-point of the game!! GUH! (the thought of "dropping" it didn't occur to me...) I would personally want to create a little fuzzy ball of torment and name it Furzy T1000--the apidemy of all out destruction :D (then I'd have it clean my room...heheh) -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." heh. I''m sorry...I guess I am kind of out of the loop on this one  . When exactly did they put the damage cap in the games? Avernum? I don't think there ever was one in Exile...(thinks evil memories of "omni-god character") And what is this "A3 inflated Damage?" I don't recall seeing any unusual damages when I played...course, thats just me :D -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." OOOO! BURN! :P . And for those that are interested, if you beta test--you can't enter the scenario contest. (at least the first one anyway ;) . I'm sure the Lyceum will put up more in the future just like they have with BoE.) Just thought I'd add this little point since someone is asking about the contest, and I have nothing better to do :D . **runs around in circles screaming "my toungue is being eaten alive by rabid squirles!!"** -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Though I don't know who coined it, and I don't think you can find out, "terraform" makes since to use as a title for what it does. Lets sit down for a quick review shall we **busts out the graduation cap from out of nowhere and wips out a long stick to point to a chalk board** For those of you who don't know, and I hope there are very little...lol...in laymens terms, to terraform something means to change it to inhabitable, wrather than UNinhabitable. The exact phrase from websters I can't get right now, as the word does not apear to be in my dictionary...(GUH! Thats really sad Webster....lol. i HATE you...) Moving on, we can break down the word by using simple Latin, and simple english logic. Terra: Earth, Earthen Spirit, Mother Spirit Form: Change, state of being, material being Terra (Earth) Form (Change). EarthChange. Putting it this way, we can easily see that the word was probably coined by some idjot that was paid a few "measily" million to come up with, over at NASA. So in a nutshell, I think someone at NASA did it . (though again, I dont know...and I doubt you can officially find out.) This has been a wounderful Happy Hour, funded and brought to you by our friends: spiders. Cuz as we all know, they are the only food we eat....in our sleep -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." Posts: 40 | Registered: Saturday, January 24 2004 08:00 |

Heh. Well, sit and behold at the one with knowlege. Ironically, I happen to know of this myth, and one of its original catalysts. In 1982, a High School Science book-- published from the classic 2 Authors McDougle & Littel--was released through High Schools throughout the nation. My 9th grade Science teacher told us this story, and since I've actually seen this Science Book...let me reiterate that--OFFICIAL High School Science Book--I believe her story. The story goes that one day she was flipping through one of these books, suposedly filled with nothing but facts, and found an article that said: "The average person eats 8 1/2 spiders in their sleep every year." Well, that day became eventful from that point on. She didn't believe it for one moment. Her reasing was simple. 1) How do you eat 1/2 a spider every year? 2) How do you sleep through eating a spider? 3) What, exactly, is the definition for an "Average" person. She immediatly mailed and called various people. (NOTE: 1982 didn't look on e-mail as a very reliable source of comunication. Not to mention the fact not many people had the very expensive service.) Eventually she was told that the only way something like that could get through to the official books was if it was put in there by the ACTUAL authors or publishers. Turns out not even the company that mass produces these books believes everything in them...(great...we're being tought by a book of which has information not even trusted by those who make it...) After about 2 weeks of work, my former teacher eventually contacted those in charge and got to the bottom of the bogus book article. Well, she was very disapointed...lol. Turns out this book had one problem the authors thought was okay: they ran out of things to put into its side notes, and barely got it to the minimum 347 pages required in High School text books for science at that time. The suposed fact that you eat those spiders in your sleep was made up just for the purpose of filling the book to the point where they can publish it. Well, they reprinted it without the bogus info. With a little talk with the National Board of Education, they never attempted that stunt again. Fortunatly, they were let go with a small fine of $85,000--the re-printing cost for all those books. Considering there were nearly 5 millon books released nation wide, I think they got off with a slap on the wrist. (Someone paid for the rest of the re-print...85k isn't much when you talk about 5 million books...) McDougle and Littel then later went on to publish many more of our wounderful books, and various supplements. They're still at it today too! Go look, for those of you still in school, at any of your school text books. Chances are you will find its made by McDougle & Littel. Now you know where the myth came from . Its actually not that old of a myth...okay fine...I'll admit this is probably only one of the sources. But the information I'm given leads me to believe that this is the catalyst for the entire thing OH! And as for Snopes.com? Forget them . I have looked at alot of their stuff for months...I gave up on them since they are COMPLETELY biased to almost every myth. They get their information from broad sources like CNN and MSNBC. Some of it I've even found re-worded from sources like MSN and ESPN. (Yes...that last one is a stretch...) Go ahead and trust them if you want...I can't stop ya there...but at least know that they aren't as trusty as the Myth Busters on Discovery channel. At least they test, using real things themselves, the myths they are given. Its kind of wierd when Myth Busters prove something actualy is possible, or has happened, and snopes sais its impossible . I rest my case. [ Monday, February 16, 2004 05:53: Message edited by: SpineRaker ] -------------------- "I am not stubborn, your just stupid." I personally think that mars is inhabitable even now...but thats just me . I'm a Mars Conspiracy Theorist...right along-side teh Moon Conspiracy Theorists . There are alot of various photos that have been supressed in the media that, if real, proves there is--or once was--a civilization on Mars. Search around for Richard C. Hoagland stuff. He's the master of Mars Conspiracy and has alot of these photos that I am talking about.
