Za-Khazi Run: Spiraling Crypt: Insane Solutionless Time-Warp Death Trap? in Blades of Avernum

Yup, kill the others first, then tackle the demon golem (the winged thing)... I just blasted the passive statues with lightning and fire. That will make the battle a lot easier.

I found out how you could steal the scroll (had found the cupboard before, but it was empty at the time). But where can I find the opal and the crystal thingy?

I refuse to use the editor, but I'm only at day 8 and I have some earlier saves as well.
But where can you find the opal - I went to the east of Morog's place, but I could only find a rough opal.
Where is the chrystal soul? I'm hoping it's not the banished undead vahnatai in the middle of the spiraling crypt since I kicked his alien butt.
And can you get the poppy charm without trading with Morog, or can you get the scroll back after trading?

Anyone?

----------

Oh, and Ninjai and benji, ignore the winged thing and attack the statues immediately before they come to life and start fighting back ignoring the winged thing. It seems as if the winged monster can heal itself as long as the other statues/monsters are alive unless you can kill it in one turn. Blast the statues with lightning spray or something, after that dealing with the other monster should be a lot easier than other encounters along the ZKR...

I didn't want to start a new topic about this, so I thought I'd resurect this one... I've reached Khoth and I apparently have none of the objects he wants (which made me curse out loud and bash my keyboard for a while).

Where can you find the stuff he wants? If you traded the scroll for the poppy charm, is killing Morog the only way of getting it back?

Is that what the Ur-basilisk is guarding in the lower left corner of Stalker's fortress? I couldn't dispell all those barriers with just one piercing crystal so I gave up. It's been bugging me since...

Blades of Avernum HELP in Tech Support

Tried that, but it didn't work... The 'Unregistered version' and 'Registration code 0' seem to be stored in the old .dat-file. I guess I better mail the people at Spiderweb.

I guess you should make a backup of the .dat-file immediately after registering since the game isn't all to stable (I just registered it this morning, and now it has crashed and burned).

My registered of BoA just crashed on me (it just dropped dead on me when I started the game) and forced me to reboot, and now when I start the game it says 'Unregistered version' and 'Registration code 0', so I can't use my code to simply reregister the game. Any suggestions what I should do? (Oh, and I didn't copy the game .dat-file before the crash...)
Thought I should ask if there is a simple fix to it before I start whining at the good people at Spiderweb.

True. And Avernum hasn't really got too impressive graphics. But that isn't Avernum's strength. Screenshots can't really convey depth or fun gameplay...

If you guys want more people to discover BoA, you might want to place a vote on the demo on Adrenaline Vault , 'cause let's face it, the screenshots don't exactly look too impressive...

Ok, so I'm kinda hooked and thinking about registering. But since the registering code you recieve seems to be linked to a random set of numbers on your installed copy of the game I have a question. What happens if you reinstall the game?
Will the random numbers be different and your $25 code useless?

I'm asking because I will have to change computers in august, and will most likely have to download the game from the web again...

Thanks heaps for explaining the hit point system. And even more for assuring me that I won't have to bring my tool use up to level 25 and return and pick that lock. :)

However I'd still like to know what the special skills do exactly... Anyone?

You don't exactly "find" the skills. You get special skills when you pour enough skill points into certain skills. To get 'Parry' you place a lot of skill points into 'Dexterity' and 'Defense' (I think). 'Magery' is probably linked to 'Intelligence' and 'Priest/Mage level'.

Thanks for the rundown on the damage potential, but how does the game decide exactly how much damage you do (is 3-12 a 3 or a 12, or somewhere in between?), and how does the +8 fire damage work?

I've finished the scenario, completing all sidequests I've stumbled upon. But I have a couple of questions that keep bugging me.

1) What is the most powerfull weapon you can find?
I can't figure out which one does more damage, the flame sword, or the fine waveblade (I haven't quite learned how to decypher the damage potential). I'm trying to make my primary fighter (a berserker) as bad as he can be.

2) In the school, in the vahnatai (or how the hell you spell it) cave there is a door inside a secret passage that i couldn't pick (it's difficulty 25). What's behind there?

Oh, and I've managed to get the skills 'Parry' and 'Magery' (I believe it's called). What exactly is it they do?

I couldn't find Avizo in Fort Talrus, but you can find his stone by breaking in to his house, disarming the traps and checking the flower pot...

I got thru there without dying or cheating, with a low level party. The priest spell 'repell spirit' kicks furry butt when it comes to clearing those caves. On the other hand the reward isn't too great...

Good luck with getting that tooth.

Avernum 3 - Goblin Crash in Tech Support

Hi.

I'm playing the unregistered (I'm considering registering it, but I'm a bit short on cash for the moment) version of Avernum 3 for pc. I played the Exile games a long time ago (on my good old Mac LC III), so it's sort of nostalgic. However I've encountered a bug of some kind. Almost every time I'm fighting ogres the game crashes giving me a dialogue window saying:

"Unhandled Exception

Unhandled exception: c000001d
At Address: 00424220"

Is this a known bug? Is there somekind of patch which addresses this problem, or is there something I can do to avoid it?

(I can't very well register the game unless I know there is a way to avoid this bug, since it would seem impossible to progress in the game if it crashes on these encounters... )
